God damnit. I bought a PS3 mostly for the fact that I'd have FFXIII in a year or 2. Why did MGS4 have to come out before this news hit? Hopefully this atleast means we Europeans wont have to wait a year for our version to come out, though I doubt it'll change a thing.

Great news for 360 owners that don't have the money to invest in a PS3 though, it's nice that more companies are starting to go multiplatform. Although it seems Sony are getting screwed and Microsoft just keep nabbing exclusives.

Sony still has its E3 presentations tomorrow and they usually are not one to disappoint. I'm still looking forward to White Knight and FFXIII Versus 13 so hopefully they have some info on them tomorrow.

Still picking up the PS3 version of FXIII cause atleast I know I'll be able to play it without worrying about another RRoD. 2 already and a third feels like its on the way.

But I'm all for multi-platform. More money for developers means more quality games (I hope..?).

Yeah, I don't know why PS3 fanboys are getting so uptight about this. They're acting like the game isn't coming out for PS3 anymore. If MS secures exclusive DLC, alright, then I'll join in on the whining. :D

I really doubt it unless SE is compressing shit very well. Lost Odyssey was two DVDs I can't imagine FFXIII being smaller than that.

Lost Odyssey was 4 discs, not 2. I imagine Square will end up using multiple, I know Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon were huge mostly because of the multiple languages and FMV's, but I'd like to think Square would be making a game big enough to span atleast 2 DVD's.

but i understand they have to worry about install base.

in any case, BluRay > DVD for sure.. so the PS3 version will be superior. Crystal tools works for both platforms so I think any rendering differences will be minimized even tho the Ps3 is superior..

Except that in FF7-9 the entire functional portion of the game (i.e. the whole battle system, world map, and every dungeon and town) was on all 3-4 discs. The only thing different between the discs was which cutscenes were stored on them.

Kinda, but partially wrong.

In FF9 - I believe access to certain places was limited (all I can remember is the fog).

In FF8 - all cities were blocked out on disc 4.

In FF7 - everything was there.
