Why are people getting so upset and defensive when someone calls Windower cheating? More importantly why are people who say Windower is cheating poking fun and acting like children? It does not negatively affect the gaming experience for anyone who chooses not to use it. It's only against the rules because there is a blanket rule covering the use of 3rd party programs. Let's go back to the other discussion on how everyone in China is a piece of shit RMT. This is the same kind of blanket statement as referring to windower as cheating, and both are wrong.

A number of people are misreading how the case could potentially apply to something like Windower.

First of all, the article mentions that MDY had already stipulated to some aspects of tortious interference. This case was only looking at one particular element of that type of lawsuit. Even if Windower falls into the same loading parts of the program in RAM thing, sorry not a techie and don't really completely understand that, that does not mean it meats the other elements of tortious interference.

Also, don't get your hopes up, or down, about SE bringing similar lawsuits. Blizzard was not even the one that started this litigation. MDY was essentially preemptively bringing suit against Blizzard in an effort to legitimize its software by seeking a declaratory judgment. So it's not as if Blizzard was on the warpath trying to clean them out in that sense.

The case is certainly interesting but still only really applies to one main element of the tortious interference claim.

Glider is not just a botting tool per-say it exploits major game mechanics and basically hacks the system. Not only can you program it to do complex farming > crafting > AHing, leveling, etc. but it can actually cheat resetting timers, double hitting with abilities, and casting PC centered AoEs at range. Being that WoW is heavily PVP based and a huge chunk of the best gear is obtained through Arena and Battlegrounds it truly gives a PC with Glider a very unfair advantage.

I laughed at my friend because he was punished (took away most of his PVP gear, all his money, and delvled his rogue) after using it for 2 weeks straight farmed 35,000 gold, leveled a 25 Rogue to 70 and did a crap load of cheating PVP. Now he's going to loss his glider service completely I guess, lol. Paying for a program to play a game that you pay to play I could never get but I guess if time is more important than money that's really why there's such a huge draw to cheating.
