SE will never go to the same extent Blizzard goes with WoW. Blizzard's priority is WoW since that's the companies primary success. However, SE's primary focus is their single player RPGs in the series and keeping FFVII alive as long as possible

If this doesn't get successfully appealed, it does open the door for pretty much any third party modification to any game to be slammed down under laws which weren't designed (but apparently successfully shoehorned into) to cover it.

This is a bad, very bad thing.

To be honest, we've needed laws to cover third party services, hacks and add-ons for a long time. What would be perfect is if we can get new laws, or precedents with existing laws used in creative ways, to be able to successfully sue third party service and software distributors. This includes RMT companies, as well as hacks/bots/etc.

I fail to see how it's anything but good.

The moment companies like IGE and FFXIApp can be sued successfully with no grounds for appeal, it'll be a much welcome and anticipated day for the digital world.

We coordinate Skillchains on Ventrilo or people say TP once in PT Chat when they have 100+ is so minimal of useless Chat in our Log that it doesn´t bother us. I understand it is terrible for many people to use more macros and some jobs would need for every small thing 3 macros. It was possible before Windower and it is still possible. Windower users are just used to the lazy way. All what I am saying does also not mean that I am for Windower to be gone. I´ll be glad if it stays forever and I´ll be glad too if it does not stay and will get rid of some idiots.

Glider was mainly a levelling bot, but I believe it doubled as a farming bot.

Glider is not just a botting tool per-say it exploits major game mechanics and basically hacks the system. Not only can you program it to do complex farming > crafting > AHing, leveling, etc. but it can actually cheat resetting timers, double hitting with abilities, and casting PC centered AoEs at range. Being that WoW is heavily PVP based and a huge chunk of the best gear is obtained through Arena and Battlegrounds it truly gives a PC with Glider a very unfair advantage.

I laughed at my friend because he was punished (took away most of his PVP gear, all his money, and delvled his rogue) after using it for 2 weeks straight farmed 35,000 gold, leveled a 25 Rogue to 70 and did a crap load of cheating PVP. Now he's going to loss his glider service completely I guess, lol. Paying for a program to play a game that you pay to play I could never get but I guess if time is more important than money that's really why there's such a huge draw to cheating.

I played this game for ages before windower came out/I knew about it.
It was terrible. It was a horrible, masochistic practice that proved we were all insane. I mean, really, imagine lfg in Valk for 5 hours, because there's 150 people there. No intarwebs to browse, no aim, nothing. Couldn't go away from the comp to do something else, because no tell dinger.

I know I'm not the only person who went through this hell. I contemplated quitting the game, but then I heard about windower...

And the skies parted, with a multitude of heavenly host lifting me on high to the salvation of windowed gaming.
Even without all the plugins, etc. windower is far superior to the official windower. Buggy as shit, laggy garbage.

Windower is *nothing* but a positive. Its plugins don't hurt anyone's gaming experience. Me using plugins doesn't encroach on your fun. If anything, it enhances it for everyone. Most of the things in windower should *be* in the game anyway.

Maybe the times have changed a bit, now that the entire NA community isn't the same level in the same camps, but I'm sure you all remember the horrors of pre-windowed NA-release FFXI.

Normal macro sets don't lag *at all*. Right?
Hell trying to do sorc ring macro before I started using windower macros would lead to an unholy marriage of MP and Nuking gear.

The lag in normal macros is atrocious. It's not like I can't use them (I was using them till 3 weeks ago), but damn if it wasn't intensely frustrating.

If you heard that from your friend, he's full of shit, glider is just a bot/scripting tool. The only thing people use it for pvp, is to essentially afk for a for small amount of points. For example, a script in which your character keeps queing for battlegrounds, than runs straight across the map towards the other faction getting killed, maybe autocasting certain abilities.
