    Corsair Endgame Gear Questions

    I recently hit 70+ with my Corsair. As such, I would like to start focusing on getting the end game gear that will be most benefitial to the job.

    Please include reccomendations for the following:

    -TP Building

    -WS Sets (assuming the use of marksmanship)

    -Quick Draws

    Also, what weapons do you reccomend for building TP (Phantom Fleuret, M. Kris etc?)

    Can you be a bit more specific about what you want to do in end game?

    Reason I ask is that you seem to be approaching end game COR like you would XP COR and the two are quite different. Most endgame activities outside of merit don't even prefer the use of a DD sub. Most of the time /WHM is the preferred sub since COR is not an effective DD against endgame mobs. Certainly if you're meleeing for TP on endgame mobs, you're usually just feeding a mob unnecessary TP. The only event that I consider to be endgame where I would use a DD sub would be dynamis. On CoP dynamis bosses when feint is on, COR can actually do decent damage.

    One thing you definitely should focus on for end game is shot accuracy and/or damage so focusing on AGI and MAB for end game is a good place to start. AGI gear is usually pretty cheap however the MAB gear can get a bit pricey (and gl convincing a LS that a COR needs a Novio earring).

    For /WHM you will probably want an MP set so you can help out with healing.

    As I said earlier, things are different for merit and there are a few ways to go about that so if that's what you want just mention it and we can get into that. I didn't though because I don't consider merit to be "endgame".

    Sorry for my lack of clarity. I will likely be using Cor for meriting predominantly as I have more desired jobs for other linkshell endeavors.

    However, are their any reccomendations for end game gear for HNMs etc too, as a reference in the event I am asked to come as COR to one of those events.

    TP set for COR/RNG shooting, you want to focus on as much RACC as possible, or gear that has a good combination of both. i.e., Crimson hands over skadi, beater's over triumph, and gun belt (or buccaneers) over a STR item.

    Without merits especially, it's pretty hard to get a decent hitrate on shots. My TP set for shooting is:

    Corsair'sTricorne
    Faith Torque (pcc alternative, might be better if you plan on meleeing as well)
    Blood gauntlets
    denali jacket (skadi is better, p body is a decent substitute)
    behe+1 x2
    skadi's trousers (sub in dusk for more evasive mobs)
    skadi's jumbalaya (corsair's bottes work here too)
    vision/beaters
    amemet +1
    gun belt
    coffinmaker/steel

    If you're going for more evasive mobs (any HNM like sky gods, dynamis, some T3 ZNMs, certain mamools) subbing in dusk trousers, p. body, o.hat and possibly corsair's bullets could be helpful. I haven't had alot of experience with those particular bullets. If you are subbing ninja in EXP, loading up on all the RACC you can get and using sushi (especially if you're meleeing) is going to be most desireable.

    If you're trying to shoot or melee on HNM's like Kirin, Dynamis lord, or land HNM's you're probably going to be better off subbing white mage. In any situation where you're short on healing or the mob is particularly evasive your RNG sub leaves much to be desired.

    For a TP melee set I would recommend joyeuse if subbing /RNG, though I haven't really looked into offhand options for /NIN. This set would be kind of the same, although prioritizing ACC, then haste, then anything else. I actually do have a set for this (that I never use, lol).

    skadi's jambalaya, denali or pahl work here too
    suppa (for sword skill, even without /nin)/minuet/diabolos

    For slug you want to concentrate on Racc and STR, I would assume the same for detonator. I fire off slug as often as I possibly can when sharpshot is up, otherwise saving it to 200%. It's a really innacurate WS, so loading up on STR all rangerlike style doesn't work very well.

    I use:
    Corsair's Tricorne
    Denali Jacket (skadi is better, p body is a decent substitute)
    Breeze Gorget
    Enkidu's Mittens (skadi's bazustuff, barbie muffs)
    dusk trousers
    amemet +1
    gun belt
    beaters/vision, although triumph works here also
    skadi jambalaya (corsair's bottes work here too)

    For Quickdraw focus on AGI and macc...there's not alot of macc you can put here as was mentioned

    Corsair's tricorne
    ugg pendant, if your set can activate the latent, I don't use this - I just use my agile gorget.

    marine f shoes, enkidus leggings, corsair's bottes
    denali kecks, war brais +1
    suppa/genin

    My /WHM set just basically adds in as much haste and MP as possible, keeping the QD set but dropping the others. When casting cures and such, it looks like this:

    Walahra turban
    blue cotehardie
    custom f pants
    swift belt
    loq/magnetic
    Mp back/feet/hands

    I also carry staves for QD accuracy and cures.

    I also have a stoneskin set, although cor gear doesn't give you much to work with in that department. That's mostly rings, earrings and belt, neptune's staff + raptor strap and RSE that gives me as much +MND as possible.

    Zoot gave a good list of specific gear so here are some general guidelines:

    melee TP: all the accuracy you can get. You'll either need sushi or a BRD singing madrigal to make this effective.

    shooting TP: all the Racc you can get unless the gain in Ratt is so great that it's worth the trade-off. Once again , whether or not you'll have a BRD in party who will prelude you as well as the quality of gear you have will determine whether or not you can eat meat or sushi. You won't be able to hit shit w/o sushi if you don't have a BRD.

    Barrage: Max Racc always

    Quick draw:
    1: for light and dark shots: Macc, AGI
    2: for elemental shots: Macc, MAB, AGI

    If you want to be able to focus on damage, you should make sure you cap Winning Streak and Quick Draw recast merits. However in any party with very good DDs in it, no matter how good your gear is.. you won't even break 10% of the total damage in the party. It's something you should take into account when deciding gear choices. Zoot and I are both lucky in that we have much of the gear we use on COR, we also use for other jobs. But if you can't poach gear from other jobs, it becomes a real question as to whether or not it's worth it to spend millions of gil on something that's going to amount to around 6-8% of the total damage in a good XP party (When I say good I mean 27k+/hour).

    Ops, I forgot about macc on damage QD shots. I don't actually have any macc gear that this job can equip so I don't use it there, but totally.

    Don't think I would have dumped all of that work into cor if I didn't already have MND, staves and matt from RDM, AGI and a TP set from THF, and MP set from bard cures and na's already in my inventory. If you are outdamaging your melees on COR, the party is pretty sad. Pickup groups on COR typically make my head spin, so I only party it with friends.

    In endgame just be smart about when to sub /WHM and don't be stingy about it. Know when your healing capabilities outweigh what you might do in damage. Remeber that for all intents and purposes on some mobs you can and should be an acting bard. MP merits couldn't hurt here.

    If it helps here's mine:

    For merits I'm always Joy/Martial, for big fights Vulcan's/Coffinmaker.

    Melee TP:

    W.Turban/PCC/Hollow/Brutal
    Paluwhan/Dusk/Ecphoria/Woodsman
    Amemet +1/Life Belt/Denali/Dusk

    Belt should be Swift but having a hard time getting it. Note that I have full sword merits, prior to that I wasn't really comfy with a haste build and used more of an accuracy build.

    Shooting TP:

    Tricorne/PCC/Hollow/Drone
    Paluwhan/Crimson/Merman's x2
    Amemet+1/Whatever/Denali/Bottes

    Rings were Behemoth's but I needed Merman's for tanking so I consolidated, belt is meh til Bucaneer's, there's that new Corsair's Belt though.

    WS:

    Tricorne/Light Gorget/Drone/Drone
    Denali/Crimson/Garrulous/Ruby(Merman's for Slug)
    Amemet+1/Warwolf/Denali/Bottes

    Blue Cotehardie is a decent holdover til Denali, Paluwhan pants are great too. I also have full MM merits, prior to that I was using 2x Racc rings for Slug.

    QD:

    Tricorne/Uggy Pendant/Drone/Moldy
    Denali/Mage's Cuffs/Garrulous/Balrahn's
    Amemet+1/Scouter's/Denali/Crimson

    Could do better in the back slot, but I have console macro limitations so nothing I can do about it really. If you have MP merits like I do, making a separate macro that swaps 2x Physical Earrings in and back out real quick is nice for killing MP to activate pendant latent.

    Quick draw varies somewhat. If I'm in a support role on a big NM, then I'll have mage SJ and HQ staff in the weapon slot which changes some things.

    - / [matching] Obi / Denali kecks / Denali gamashes
    (I don't own any decent hand or back items for now)

    Light and Dark shot don't use Magic attack, so I use Denali head instead of Tricorne and Scouter rope instead of Obi. One could also use more AGI on neck and ears if they wanted a perfect setup but these abilities miss so rarely to begin with.

    I have some of the gear you guys have mentioned and have a fairly solid RAcc build, but will put some more effort into getting some of the other peices mentioned. Thanks for your input ^^

    Since you just hit 70, I'm assuming you've been mostly shooting for TP in exp parties, unless you own a Mercurial Kris. Once you start meriting, mobs are going to die so fast that you're going to find it much more efficient to melee for TP. Forget about Phantom Fleuret; you're going to want a multi-hit weapon to melee for TP, so that means either Joyeuse or M.Kris. You're also going to need to invest in a good melee TP gear set.

    I find it handy to have both a +Haste TP set and a +accuracy TP set, and swap between them depending on the mob. I always eat sushi, and currently have 4/8 Sword and 8/8 Marksmanship merits.

    /RNG is the most popular and probably "safest" subjob for merit parties, especially if you don't have combat merits yet since the +22 accuracy will help a lot. /DNC is an effective subjob for merit parties if your party needs some extra support, and /WAR is great for boosting damage against less evasive mobs like Greater Colibri; just watch the hate line. I only go /NIN if I'm going to be expected to pull, although generally I prefer having a BRD puller.

    Here's what I currently use. Biggest pieces I'm after to improve this are PCC (why can't that drop in price like everything else? ><), Skadi's Jambeaux, Dusk Ledelsens or Enkidu's Leggings, Enkidu's Harness, a Triumph Earring, Buccaneer's Belt, and possibly upgrading a couple of my NQ staves to HQ.

    Haste TP:
    Joyeuse/Martial Gun/Steel Bullets
    W.Turban/Spectacles (need PCC)/Brutal/Suppa
    Pahluwan Body/Dusk Gloves/Woodsman *2

    I see many people use Precise over Gun. Justification?

    In my opinion, Buccaneer's is the best all around belt for COR. The reason I say that is because the +4 STR is going to benefit you as much if not more than the +~5 attack from gun belt, especially on WS, and buccaneers belt is also more accurate.

    +5 to marksmanship skill is much better than +5 ranged accuracy. However, when subbing ninja you would use the precise belt instead, so maybe some people use that in order to save inventory space.

    Definitely agree with that, the new Corsair's Belt isn't terrible, but Buccaneer's is tops for everything but QD. Until then Warwolf will get the most bang on WS, and Precise is probably best for shooting TP. Gun Belt is decent, but I've personally moved away from /RNG for most things, I generally /WAR to merits and /RDM to large events.

    I personally would probably prefer Antares since it could double as a QD piece(if you didn't have Denali already) but meh @ needing 2 separate body pieces for melee TP and shooting TP when Paluwhan is more than sufficient for both.

    I'm doing Buccaneer's for Ranged + WS, Life for Melee (until Swift, been putting it off...) and selling my gun belt. Scouter's for QD setup.

    But Paluwhan's is SOOOO ugly >.>; ;

    I'm thinking of buying a SH+1 just because I can't stand the look of the P. Body .. I guess +2 Accuracy and Evasion bonus wouldn't hurt, either...

    Yeah, the problem is there's still nothing better to shoot for TP/Barrage in, lol. More than anything I can't afford the +1 inventory spot unless it's really needed, especially when I collect more obis.

    Only reason for me is to save inventory space, since I'm often not /RNG when I play COR. Once I get Buccaneer's I'll be using that instead for both shooting/barrage and weaponskills.

    I (sadly) haven't played my COR in a while so I'm going to list my gear just so I can remember the good times I had with it. I might merit on it again after I get Buccaneer's Belt, but I'm allllmost capped on merits for my jobs.

    For merits I tend to use a mix of those two gear sets.

    For COR/RNG this gear is usually fine accuracy wise for Slug Shot, for COR/WAR I swap in more R. Acc but then again I always use Detonator when subbing WAR.
