Gonna start using Bucaneer's Belt for the Enm-4 rather than an MP belt now for /WHM, 350 is plenty with Refresh IMO

I use:
Melee:
Joyeuse/shield/Martial/Steel
Turban/Chivalrous/Suppa/Brutal
Pahluwan/Skadi/Woodsman/Blood
Amemet+1/Potent/Pahluwan/Enkidu's
Ranged:
Joyeuse/shield/Martial/Steel
AF/Faith/Beater's/Fenrir's
Pahluwan/Skadi/Behemoth/Behemoth
Amemet+1/Bucaneer's/Pahluwan/Skadi
Far from optimal though. Need better melee gloves and belt, need 25 for skadi legs, WS macro is horrible... just swapping gorget in. Could use a couple pieces of denali too. I don't bother with a QD set because I only use COR for merits and a few other very limited situations.
One note though... martial gun > coffinmaker, by a mile. The TP bonus translates to a pretty massive r.acc boost on slug shot; I've never had problems firing them off at 100 TP no sharpshot on anything but nin&thf mamools.
I'd considered the martial gun in the past, and put the idea aside because it was too expensive at the time and I didn't melee, so I really hated the extra 12 delay. But I think it would be the best choice. I'd like to try out Silver Cassandra just once if it weren't for the lolingots.
I agree that Martial is tops until someone gets a Death Penalty(I got Quicksilver but a loooong fuckin way to go). The difference between accuracy on Martial and Coffinmaker is negligible for Slug, but the damage difference on Detonator is massive whereas Slug damage between the 2 isn't noticeable. I still keep Coffinmaker as my QD/shooting only gun for big fights, since Corsair's +1 doesn't exist on Ramuh.
And Hexaguns are worthless to me, especially if you melee for TP, the base damage is just too low. If you shoot exclusively then overall DoT might prevail over Martial/CM though.
Why Diabolos' Earring for ranged, Kerb?Ranged:
Joyeuse/shield/Martial/Steel
AF/Faith/Beater's/Diabolos's
Pahluwan/Skadi/Behemoth/Behemoth
Amemet+1/Bucaneer's/Pahluwan/Skadi
I could see this being true. You can deal fairly decent per-shot damage with Peacemaker since the majority of gun damage comes from bullets, and the delay is tiny compared to other guns. Expensive as hell, though.I remember reading a post on Killing Ifrit from someone saying that they did more damage spamming steel bullets with Peacemaker than with Coffinmaker due to the delay difference. Not exactly cost-effective, though.
I'm not sure which I would dislike more about that though, the complete and utter dumping of gil for no real reason, or the complete and utter death of your COR epeen from no longer dropping 2k+ Slugs on birds.![]()
Oops, Fenrir's... wrong avatar.
Same lol, I can't parse so I gauge my performance by the number of Sushi I've lost during the party.
And wish I could, work filters banned every possible site I used to get my sprites from, as well as the program I used to animate .gifs.![]()
I've found any merit party worth it's salt i'm better off /whm i use a light staff, a gun and a bullet for light & drk shots mp gear where i can. i've found that assisting w/ heals will do more for the pt than me wasting ammo on 400 dmg slugwiffs just my 2 cents
In before anyone else says it. But you might want to rethink your DD build because you aren't pulling your weight. I personally can't stand COR/WHM and will not invite them upfront if I know thats what they will be doing. A decently geared COR should be able to do atleast 1k+ on birds w/ Detonator. The better ones should be pushing 2k. And if you don't want to waste your ammo sounds like you should either be meleeing for TP and using Detonator or you should be leveling BRD.
If you're doing 400 damage Slug Shots when you do land them then you're doing it wrong.
Edit: Damnit, Tan beat me. ;;
i have a 75 brd
my cor gear isn't complete piss, but it's surely not the best. the few times i've merited cor it was on mamools.
I actually have decent acc on them cause i can push +101 r.acc
slugshot has been quite disapointing on them. i've got a gun of trials sitting in my mog house. i use an unlocked coffinmaker though.
but back to my point. i came cor/whm to a pt w/ a sam/war, war/sam and nin/war. mamool fights didn't last 30 seconds. most were dead as the bard got them to camp. what i saw was that me meleing wouldn't have been as beneficial to the part as the support i provided /whm. i personally like cor/nin better (got my rng to 40 just after i got cor to 75, never played cor/rng though) but as far as xp/hr it seems cor/whm is better
Buy a martial gun, make sure you are using Steel Bullets, go /war, use Detonator and unleash the wrath of the Corsair on Colibri. You will be making the War's want to go /WHM so they can help heal (not likely but still entirely possible!) If you are thinking Cor/whm is better then three things are happening, A) your mage sucks and can't keep up with the healing alone, B) You and your bard aren't refreshing the mage enough so he can't keep up with the healing, or C) You aren't engaging fast enough. Bardair is not an option, I mean you are a effing pirate show some balls man!
And on a side note it sounds like your damage is lackluster because you are sacrificing too much for RACC. Swap in some AGI or STR gear in places where you might not need the RACC+, roll Hunter's and ask the Bard to slip you a Prelude if you still need it but don't use Slugshot, use Detonator, it won't miss (should hardly miss, but 1-hit wonders love to prove me wrong) and will be 100-300 less than Slug but still solid numbers.

Was me, quite a long time ago, about the time the gun was patched in. Never had a parse to back me up, but I was tired of cors QQing over the damage of peacemaker. I did a couple xp sessions just shooting with it, because it was FUN. Closest thing to a multi-hit ranged weapon. But TPing with joyeuse is just more cost-effective.
I'd like to see a parse comparing it, shooting wise, with coffinmaker. Also vs. a joyeuse tp build.
Anyway, its a fun little gun to play with and I hate when people shit on it.
I'll also add on that using a Martial Gun would be much better overall than using the unlocked Coffinmaker for the TP bonus which translates to better Slug acc or more Detonator dmg.
If it is too expensive, simply run the Ugly Range ENM (Snoll variety) and it is a common drop from that ENM (wayyy better tha Gaxe) and a huge investment for COR overall.
You can say that again.I remember reading a post on Killing Ifrit from someone saying that they did more damage spamming steel bullets with Peacemaker than with Coffinmaker due to the delay difference. Not exactly cost-effective, though.
I think so far I like Loren's gearsets the most, but I'm curious why full Denali in TP set over a mix/match haste setup including W. Turban and Dusk Hands/Feet (or even B.Zerehs or some Enkidu Leggings if you have access) ? Does the accuracy bonus from full Denali overcome the increased attack speed? The main reason I ask is that I'll soon have have full Denali (hopefully real soon).
My COR is just 65 still, but based on what I have or can easily get, my plan is as follows:
Joyeuse or M.Kris / Martial / Steel
TP:
Turban / P.Charm / Hollow / Suppa
SH+1 / Dusk Gloves / Sniper's / Ulthalam's
Amemet+1 / Swift / Pahl. Seraweels / Denali Gameshes
Ranged:
O.Hat / P.Charm / Hollow / TBD
Pahl. Body / Blood Finger Gauntlets / Behe Ring x2
Amemet+1 / Gun Belt / Pahl. Seraweels / Pahl. Crackows
WS:
Tricorne / P.Charm / Hollow / Suppa (soon Triumph)
Denali Jacket / Blood Finger Gauntlets / Rajas / Flame
Amemet+1 / Warwolf / Pahl. Seraweels / Denali Gameshes
QD:
Tricorne / P.Charm (need AGI item or Uggy) / Moldavite / Drone
Denali Jacket / Mages / Breeze / Psi
Commander's Cape / Scouter's / Denali / Denali
Obviously, there will be room for improvement... I've just seriously started up Salvage after just dabbling before, so hopefully Skadi will go in everywhere that it makes sense.
