Denali Jacket is clearly better for Quick Draw, but I think I'd WS in Skadi's Cuirie over it. Giving up 2 AGI and 4 ratk for 10 r.acc isn't such a bad deal. That, and I could TP in it too.

I take alot of pride in my COR and I consider it my main next to BRD and all my funds are going into at the moment (just had to spend 9mil on Marduk's jubbah so I'm a bit behind).
TP:
Joyeuse/--/Martial/Iron
Turban/Spec(PCC)/Brutal/Suppa
Pahluwan/Dusk/Jaeger/Rajas
Amemet+1/Swift/Cobra subligar/Dusk
Slug:
(swap in steel)
Tricorne/Breeze Gorget/Drone(Triumph)/Beaters(Triumph)
Denali/Crimson/Behemoth(Flame)/Rajas
Amemet+1/Buccaneer's/Pahluwan/Bottes
QD (I use Earth shot about 80% of the time):
Elestaff/Earth Grip/Martial/Steel
Tricorne/Agile Gorget/Drone/Moldavite
Denali/Mage's Cuffs/Emerald/Balrahn's
Nomad's/Scouters/Denali/Crimson
I generally dislike gearing for more MP when going /mage (and I only do that for LS events) mostly because I would rather fully gear AGI. I really never have a need to cure at events, mostly just go /RDM for the magic attack bonus and stoneskin.
I also probably would never use Coffinmaker over my martial gun. I just love being able to WS at 100% instead of 160% even if I was going with just RAing for TP. I do have 8/8 marksmanship and 4/4 sword merits, if that makes much a difference (but I still do whiff alot on salvage bosses). The items in parantheses are things Im currently aiming for after buying back a few items I sold for jubbah. :3 Also, cobra subligar is a very easy to get item and very nice for joyeuse.
Also, feel free to critique my gear prz.I'd like to know if theres anything I should fix.
Is your TP setup a mixed of your ranged TP and melee TP setup? Wondering because of the earrings.
oops typo! Fixed![]()
But I'm not dreaming? >.>a Thats my real gear. I would put some sexier items in there had I been dreaming. :D
Oh. xP Whoosh myself.
Am I in the minority when I say cor/whm > cor/DD for typical merit parties?
I can understand if you are forced to come cor/DD due to who is LFG atm. But "ideally" isn't xp/hr better with cor/whm?
Say you are the Cor, and LFG are MNK MNK WAR WAR BRD BRD RDM. How would you construct the PT such that /DD would be more xp/hr than /whm?
I'd go DDx3 brd/nin rdm/whm cor/whm.
I only ever use COR/WHM
because I'm 2boxing it, but yes it would be better then anyway on mamools, birds are easy and squishy to cor so I wouldn't there
I'm not really interested in meriting as COR/WHM, for much the same reason I don't want to merit as BRD. It's just not as enjoyable. In that hypothetical situation, I'd go RDM BRD/WHM BRD/NIN WAR WAR COR, but I only merit with LS people anyway. I was in a party with RDM BRD BRD NIN SAM COR where the SAM was skilling up polearm, and we still had to slow our kill speed on birds to keep up the chains, so yeah, no problem having a COR be the "third DD". I've also done RDM COR BRD DD DD DD several times, never subbed WHM, not like anyone was dying (excessively, shit happens) or we lost chain, etc. I guess it depends on how much you trust your healer.
For similar reasons, I don't try very hard to bring COR to outlands Dynamis: I'd be better off as /WHM there, and BRD gets better stoneskin and hMP.
In my experience if your RDM can't main heal w/o the assistance a /whm (whether it is BRD or COR) your party probably is going to suck from the start. A competent healer should be able to handle a party of 4 DD's + BRD, especially if they are a RDM. Up to 6 tick auto-refresh + another 1 or 2 if they have A.body or Duelist's Chapeau. Throw in a COR there and they should be getting an additional 1-4 auto-refresh, that coupled with Convert is a shitton of MP. I mean come on if they can't main heal with that much refresh, replace them.
Whereas a COR/WAR or COR/RNG could slam a nearly 2k Detonator on Birds or a 1k on Mammols to end the fight sooner so that a DD who ws in the first 3s doesn't get pecked to death (if its on birds) or rushing raped on Mamools. Bottom line: killing things faster means more exp and there is hardly the chance for an average meripo to be killing faster than the COR can engage/assist. I could understand the mobs dying rather quickly in a LS meripo with a few relic weapon DD's but even then, where the hell did you find your healer if they can't handle a decent PT?
COR/WHM is a leech for any meripo, (they have their place in endgame) but in meripo they either don't want to waist their ammo, or they would rather stand around using their 200 mp with their thumbs up their asses healing for a lazy RDM. Like I said earlier, you have a giant gun w/ extremely powerful bullets and you get a relic weapon from Nyzul that will eventually be called "Death Penalty" grow some balls and deal some damage.
hmm, I can already tell we are not comparing apples to apples.
OBVIOUSLY if /whm cor is not needed for curing at all, then he should be /DD.
/whm is important (be it from a cor or brd/whm), regardless whether there is a cor or not.
You say the PT sucks if it can't be healed by a single rdm. I strongly disagree. I find if your rdm is getting bored and having an easy time, your pt set up could be tweaked a bit more for dmg. Change those war/nin's to /sam. Change mnk/nin's to /war. If you're going out there war/nin(tank) mnk/war war/sam and a sole rdm is keeping up, you're lying. And you're REALLY lying if you pull that off at MJSP.
Perhaps its different play styles. I rather specialize and allow mnks and wars to come as more powerful subs, and in turn come /whm to compensate for their extra MP-sponging. And my AH-able MP set puts me at 505MP, as mithra no MP merits, not the 200MP you said.
However, I'll be the first one to admit that not spending gil on bullets is nice ^^.
I'm not arguing that one is overwhelmingly a better choice than the other. I just find it odd that you'd skip over cor/whm's so readily.
also if your fighting skoffins rdm alone paralynaing 4-5 people at a time tends to be fail
WAR/NIN WAR/NIN BRD/NIN BRD/WHM COR/RNG RDM/WHMSay you are the Cor, and LFG are MNK MNK WAR WAR BRD BRD RDM. How would you construct the PT such that /DD would be more xp/hr than /whm?
Hint: /DDsub or /WHM = Depends on who you're XPing with, and where you're XPing. Bring appropriate sub for appropriate situation, /DDsub and /WHM can get exceedingly good XP/hr, just make sure it fits the party.
As someone who's been single RDM healer in a ton of merit PTs with no other /WHM: Can you do it? Yes. Can you do it safer/better with a /WHM? Dear god yes. DDs can't keep up shadows in some situations (DA/TA/TP move/etc), ever see a DD eat a double attack, lose 500 HP, Skoffin looks at another DD and Fang Rushes/AoE Para/AoE dispel, and you're looking at 3 DDs who need any combo of cures/rebuffing/paras? Can a single RDM do it? Yes. Is this how shit gets bad and people die occasionally? Yes.
Seriously, Mamool Ja Staging Point fucking sucks as RDM sole healer/haster/refresher/erase/na etc.
Yay! other people defending cor/whm.
I'll agree. it's boring as shit, but it's better xp/hr.
the reality is "adjust to fit the needs of the pt"
i thought cor/whm was great from 66-71 in the mire.
fk amnesia.
/whm was very useful for silena too
