    Another nvidia/Vista question ; ;

    I did a search and came up with 3-4 threads that had nvidia/vista issues and of course links to the drivers I should be using....I scaned the threads to see if anyone had a similair issue but didnt see any...I d/l'd the 169? version drivers found in one of the threads but all it tells me is that my hardware doesnt match and :3 It gd should ~ I tried uninstalling/installing several times to the point I just had to restore to factory drivers. So full specs/issues and any other questions please post ._. Im outa idea's to make this work FFXI Is runing and looks amazing but at 11FPS and for the specs Im going to list it should not be that low...at all ; ;

    HP Pavilion dv6707us Notebook PC (Everytime I uninstalled/rebooted - HP would automatically install stupid VGA Adapter drivers that sucked so bad the screen was blurry)

    OS: Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TK-57 (1.9 GHz, 512KB L2 Cache)
    RAM: 3GB DDR2 System Memory
    Video: Nvidia GeForce Go 7150M with up to 799MB
    FSB: 667MHz

    Currently runing Driver Version 7.15.11.5665 no newer/older versions that I can find on HP's website~

    Not sure if you need any other specs ~

    ftp://download.nvidia.com/downloads/nZone/drivers/ << Said I dont have the hardware to support these drivers (Im going to assume they are for PC onry not laptop ; ; )?

    I also tried a 177.? something driver and said my OS wasnt supported >.o Mebbe Im just having rly bad luck XD ~ Im not a computer idiot but nore am I a genius so any help w/o ; ; yelling would be ftw prz

    And if we do find drivers >.o Do I really need to go through the hassel to uninstall again? If HP is just going to keep automatically installing crappy VGA Drivers?

    My last ditch effort would be to install windowsxp but at a quick glance I cant find drivers for half of the things in the laptop for XP

    Thanks Lets try it!

    Ok Im d/l'ng and would like to try THIS set of drivers ~ It has my video card listed (NVIDIA GeForce 7150 / NVIDIA nForce 630i)

    Now >:3 Do I want to just install and go or should I try again removing my current drivers? Keep in mind as soon as I reboot HP does an automatic install of a crappy VGA Graphics Adapter that I can not stop ; ;/ Or atleast I have yet to find a way to stop it.

    ** Edit Ima be a smart cat and read the websites guides <.< Ignore previous questions...until then :3!

    Ok plan a. didnt work...I followed all the guidelines and when it went to install/update software/drivers the pc rebooted about 3x's then asked for a system restore because a new driver update caused a illegal operation in windows Trying again from the crappy drivers it restored to and see what happens ~ It says VGA Adapter this time instead of nvidia...:3 Bout to start work so wont be able to fully test it for another few hours after the bosses leave >:3

    The VGA generic drivers are fine to leave there; you have to have some kind of driver to tell your video card what to display on your monitor, if you have nothing, thats where the OS comes in and puts the generic VGA for you.

    Should hopefully be fine, you probably should have uninstalled the Nvidia ones that didn't work before the laptop ones but I think you should be good to go.

    Ok ~ I tried it again with the VGA Drivers and it said everyting was installed succesfully and to reboot the computer ~ I rebooted and it wouldnt again boot back up and asked for a system restore~

    Of course Im now at work so I cant try again till a lil later but one thing I am noticing is when it gets to the screen to select the video display driver (where u select ur current card/drivers) I at first had 3 (VGA, NvidaM7x2) things to select now Im down to 2.. the VGA Adapter and some NVIDIAM7 somthing(cant remember right off top of my head) I've tried selecting the VGA and thats when the successful install/failed reboot happend, selecting the nvidia one caused the reboot w/o successful install Im thinking my messing around this am I screwed something up? Im totally confused at this point why I have 2 video adapters <.<;;

    (You're probably gonna be banging your head on the desk by the time im done racking your brain >:3 just fyi <.<)

    I'm at work right now so I keep having to be somewhat brief I apologize, if someone else wants to step in at any moment feel free

    I'm thinking you might want to attempt to install it using the "have disk" method, instead of letting the installer do it. You can find the guide for that here:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...p?showtopic=33

    Also I'm not as familiar with laptops as I am desktops; but it looks like from that guide that you need to download the "modded INF" for the driver. I think if you follow that guide step by step it should help... unless of course that's the guide you were following, then umm... we'll have to take it from there.

    Yes thats the guide I was following(altho the one for vista not xp as im on vista ) ~ When it gets to the 'Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware' Thats where I see the 2 different video cards...

    I have the setup file it told me to d/l and extracted and I have the modded inf file it points me to ~ But the only part of the whole process thats different is the 2 cards it sees on that screen (Click the '' for screen)

    And you select your Nvidia card one? then your system reboots and says install failed?

    This one might need to go to the big boys cause I"m not sure what to do in that situation.

    Yar ~ Select the nvidia one makes it fail to even install completely...Selecting the VGA Adapter makes it install succeffully but fail at reboot ; ;

    Theres a post somewhere around here about a way to completely clear out all drivers and such, may be what you need, but honestly I'm not 100%, and I dunno why it's failing. Do you get an error code or exact error message?

    Shouldn't you click "have disk" at that point in your image?

    If the laptop is new, send it back and tell them that it's broken, somehow they accidentally loaded the wrong OS, and please send it back with XP Pro on it like it should be.
