Just because it's fun to think about this:

Have a THF/BLM Accomplice the BLMs whenever it's up when AV is way out of range (wait a bit after the last nuke volley). When he finally catches the BLU's CE, you should have enough warning to Warp or Flee > Warp if necessary to clear all enmity on the THF.

Not necessarily enough warning given. AV does have some nasty moves and the trick is to not make it deviate from its current course of action.

Now, say we had a THF/DRG constantly accomplicing the BLM's and HI-Jumping as often as possible on AV...

I think if nothing else, this strategy should be great for kiting the wynavs, if not AV. One good kiter could kite the wynavs for the entire fight if they will, indeed never lose interest. Now as far as AV, I personally think three good pld/nins that work well off each other should be able to tank AV pretty well, no? And as far as AV's SPs, an extremely cohesive group should be able to survive them if nobody screws up. I've read every single post of every single page of every single AV thread and have some experience with AV myself. I posted an extremely detailed strategy that has a way to deal with everything AV does for my ls like six months ago, but AV refuses to spawn for us. The strategy is very difficult to pull off, but I see no flaw in it except it may be impossible to have nobody make a mistake the entire fight. I do believe, at the very least, it would be relatively easy to get AV below 80% hp to see what happens. So AV won't pop for us and I haven't seen anybody else say they are even trying to fight him. So is, indeed nobody trying? I would like to hear if anybody is and discuss some intricate strats with anybody that is actually still serious about AV and/or has a group that can give a serious attempt.

Kaeko's suggestion was to kite the wynavs away since straight-up tanking AV allows him to cycle through his 2-hour moves, whereas kiting AV while he's "dedicated on killing one person very very far away" allows for people to do damage without repercussion and/or changing the AI's state.

Which sounds doable, but you need to find a crazy BLU who will do that while everybody else plays catch-up.

Your suggestion is what? Three PLD/NIN's straight-up tanking shouldn't have any problem with AV? No problem whatsoever with Meteor? Shadowbind during manafont, etc? I'm not a moderator, but if you want to talk about other AV strategies, there is the more general AV thread to post in, not this one. Personally, I find your "secretive" strategy rather offensive, as you've never posted your entire theory here (I did some searching, you just keep referring to "my detailed strategy", and never explain it more than "shadowbind the bad 2hours lolz pm me if you are serious business"). Don't hum and haw and say "I has a theory" and then expect people to be 1) proud of you for that or 2) more interested by your ego than your secret theory. Get more AV pops, chart more data points, return the data to the community.

(excuse the flame, but the regular AV thread is where this stuff goes, not here).

You're misunderstanding my intent. And btw, all other AV threads are locked. I haven't posted a full strat only because it would literally take a couple of hours to write it up and I saw no reason since nobody was interested in fighting AV that I have seen. I also was hoping to do it myself rather than talk about it, but AV just doesn't pop. I only posted here to see if there is actually anybody else serious about AV. I understand what the original post was about, I was just adding that it would be a great way to kite the wynavs in a straight up AV fight.

How about you copy and paste the one you "posted" on your LSs site?

Haha I make no claims of awesomenes. Well, I don't even know where I could post a strategy. I know nobody wants to see a new AV thread and this thread here is for Kaeko's theory and I think it would be rude to put it here.

Are there any plausible strategies that don't involve using Shadowbind to avoid all the damage AV outputs? Or at the very least, if you could predict with accuracy when to expect Meteor/Comet/Meikyo/etc., you wouldn't have to rely on Shadowbind so much.

This entire thread, much like every other AV thread, has been a letdown

So stop reading them? If you got through the first sentence of the OP, you knew what the thread was about.

Maybe I want to read them. Sorry if my disappointment in it is so egregious to you, I'm not stopping you from trying it out. *shrug*

Somewhere, someone is trying to hate me to death for my crusade of trying to convince everyone that AV is defeatable.

First of all PLD can easily survive meteor with fealty, if you know exactly when a 2hr will be used you can have ALL but your PLD tanks near AV, while everyone else is outside of range for 2hr, once the 2hr has been said, if it is anything other than meteor all other players move back in, and if it is meteor then the PLD instantly fealty and survive w/e it dishes out. They do this by curing each other, you just have to be decent, which I know is a lot to ask some people.

Also does anyone know if the 2hrs are on a set timer or no? I could look in another thread, but fuck you if you say shit about this question, if you don't like it, or don't want to answer it, then keep your mouth shut please.^^

To the person that wanted to straight tank AV... The most dangerous 2hr in my opinion is not Manafont, but Soul Voice. There are ways to avoid getting killed by Meteor, but good luck avoiding Charm on your tanks. Also, keep in mind people have issues with the non-bracer form of AV. Once you start dealing with things like Meikyo Shisui > x7 EES, It's going to be really hard. I think the key is to keep things simple and easy so that players can actually perform them correctly over a fight that is likely to last 2+ hours.

The /DRG idea seems busted since you have to become the target... THF enmity shift moves don't actually work unless the THF is within 20' of AV, so it's not like you can just randomly use it whenever - AV has to be near you to get the effect. Again, zoning etc. doesn't actually cause CE/VE reset - the mob has to attempt to target you while you're unavailable.

    EDIT:
Could assume just try to see what the actual cap on -enmity gear is. DRK may actually be able to reach over -100 enmity with maxed Muted Soul Merits (lol).

You add SV to the list of 2 hours that you shadowbind. It is very doubtful that all 3 tanks would be charmed before one is uncharmed, but the hate reset would indeed suck. SV also does NOT last nearly as long as the player SV does. As for bracelet mode, I think we can deal with that when we get there. That happens at what, 50% or so? We'd have made great progress to even see bracelet mode and we'd again have a lot more people working on beating him.

As for his 2 hour use, I don't think you can say it is on a strict timer. He has 2 houred very regularly, about every 90 secs after last one ended for some people. Other times he'd go much longer in between. The last actual reported test, his 2 hours seemed to get farther apart. The person that reported this seemed to think that player 2 houring when AV did lengthened the gap between his 2 hours. There was never a follow up to confirm or disprove that.

I'm going to shed some personal experience in this thread.

First off, Fealty is not a panacea for Manafont. Anyone who thinks this is inexperienced or full of shit. It does greatly reduce Meteor damage but it does not affect Comet damage. The odd thing, however, is that Comet can be absorbed by Utsusemi in this case. Surviving Manafont requires either that you pull it to the ramp and cure bomb Fealty'd PLD, or that you use also Shadowbind with Fealty and have tanks move out of melee range to make keep Utsusemi up easier while having everyone else move 25'+(This is the range on Meteor) away from all tanks. Both are easier said than done considering that it's possible for AV to get Meteor or Comet off 4 seconds after activating Manafont, and this can likely kill you before you can react.

Also, Soul Voice actually isn't that bad if handled properly. Virelai isn't immediately life threatening although hate reset on all of your tanks would lead to a wipe. It's possible to use two Shadowbinds(with AF gloves) in succession to keep AV bound for the entire duration of Soul Voice. Your tanks can move out of range during this time. We successfully pulled this off on Saturday with only one tank getting charmed.

Anyways, this is all I have to say. For now, at least.
