You don't under appreciate the movie for it's cuts until after the movie when you realize - hey, Zack forgot this! My only problem was Dr. Manhattan cutting straight to Mars. That whole Chapter completely sculpted his character for the reader. The Chapter injected all that information into you with Manhattan's time references. Unfortunately, it felt like Snyder tried to spread out that information slowly across most of the movie instead of directly at once.
You learn so much about him then, but it felt lacking in the movie. I can understand reasons to cut parts out (but when all is said and done, there were quite a few things I thought could have been cut from the movie), but the development of Manhattan as well as some key sub-characters relied on his monologues.
I also would have liked a little more conversation with Laurie and Dr.M when they were on Mars. That was one of my favorite Chapters when Manhattan was explaining how minuscule life really is. I have to say, it was ok and right to the point, though.
I was absolutely in love with Rorschach. It was perfect; the voice, the acting, the makeup and posture. He was a character everyone watching could fall in love with (and of course cry for), and the ironic part about it is that he is a vicious character that would fit the characteristics of a villain - a villain that tries so hard to destroy society and tear down justice - yet Rorschach is completely the opposite. Also, I'm REALLY glad that they kept his speech the same. It didn't sound altered at all to sound normal.
One last little nitpicking thing: Snyder's token signatures. I don't like it when he has to force these things when a scene could have done without it and still have the same emotions. I think you all would know what I'm talking about if you've seen his other movies. Yea it's great visually, but it feels like it's just copy/paste like someone mentioned with the sex scene.
