    Spoiler: show
It is my understanding is that dialogue quips between the two Bernies as well segways to introduce the Tales of the Black Freighter into the actual movie have been filmed and are ready to be put together when his stupidly named “Crazy Ultimate Freaky Edition”. It's my hope that there's even more of the between book stories, such as Rorschach's file by the psychiatrist, fleshed out scenes of Under the Hood, but I won't hold my breath.

Jaybar I am not sure what you mean with that flaw.

When the squid went boom mental images of its race, plans, and other false info was implanted into them minds of people with a certain psychic talent. An alien invasion would certainly provide a common enemy.

The Black Freighter is getting released as an animated movie/short? I saw an advertisement for it before the movie. Also a 3.5 hour directors cut is supposedly coming in June.

Right, like I said I understood what Moore wanted. I just felt it was a bit of a stretch. An accidental alien invasion. Could it happen again? I understood that's how everyone united as one. It just seemed so sudden for everyone to join together because New York was destroyed. Snyder made it more believable in my opinion when everyone was affected. I'm probably just rambling.

The psychic effects - that only affected people within the blast radius that survived right? (Edit, I'm an idiot and didn't finish your final sentence).

The soundtrack was my least favorite part of the movie by leaps and bounds. All too often it just took me out of the movie. Other than that I really enjoyed it. Almost lives up to expectations.

The more pop songs on a soundtrack the lower the quality.

Ive heard alot about the novel, but never took the time to pick it up for whatever reason, even with my love of comics. I went into the theater tonight not knowing what to expect, but I walked out a fan. I picked up the graphic novel and it sits on my desk to be read tomorrow. I cant argue on the side of the elitist perfectionists that say this movie was going to bastardize the comic. However, I can speak from a perspective of some one who was completely new to the series and characters. The director really made it easy for people to become familiar with everyone, because his portrayal seemed to have just the right amount of everyone who was supposed to be important at the right times. I can honestly say that I enjoyed Watchmen more than Dark Knight, and I saw Dark Knight 3 times (I still love it to death though). Other than a very awkward sex scene, and the massive amounts of blue cawk, I didnt want to miss a single second. Sex scenes and nudity dont bother me at all when they are neccesary in cinema. But at times I feel like they would just show off Dr. Manhattans schlong just to get a rise out of the audience and tbh, it was kind of annoying in the theater listening to the peanut gallery's nervous giggles as Manhattan floated around in all of his blue glory every 10 minutes.

Of course, its typical for some one to side with a character like him, but the best line of the whole movie ended up coming from Rorschach:
"I'M NOT LOCKED IN HERE WITH ALL OF YOU. YOU'RE ALL LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME!"

My theater errupted with applause lol.
Pretty much agree with everything he said, as someone who's new to The Watchmen universe as well.

I raged when I heard MCR had their crappy Bob Dylan cover in the movie.

I just got back from this. I absolutely loved it. I haven't read the GN yet, and as cliche as it is, I picked it up after the movie ended. Plan on starting to read it tonight. The only thing that seemed REALLY out of place was Nixon. They could've done a much better job I think. I wasn't bored once, and thought the pacing was just fine. I'll definitely go see this again next week in an imax to take it all in again.

The hardest part about Nixon for me to swallow was seeing Frost/Nixon no more than a month ago and seeing that disaster appear on screen. Every time he popped up I just had to wonder what the hell Zach Snyder was thinking.

    Really?

In any case, I'm going to it in an hour. I'll be sure to hate on it later.

Just got back from seeing it, I'll try to avoid spoilers. I enjoyed it, going in I feared for the worst considering the 3 previous Alan Moore movies were complete and utter shitbombs. (read and then attempt to watch From Hell if you need any further proof) While there were some significant flaws with the movie, the soundtrack being the most glaring offense, I thought the rest of it kept as faithful as possible to the source material.

Remember, Watchmen was considered by most to be unfilmable not that long ago. The closest parallel I can draw is to David Lynch's version of Dune. You can only put so much on screen and develop so many characters when you're taking a sprawling, epic mass of material and trying to make a movie that won't cause viewer's asses to go numb. The movie hits most of the major plot points, though I felt the ending was a bit rushed, and several main characters are left without any significant backstory.

Considering that I'm ass over teakettle in love with the book, I find it impossible to hate the film, despite it's flaws. If you've seen it, even if you didn't like it, you have to admit. It could have been a whole lot worse.

Not knowing much about Watchmen, I went in and left underwhelmed. I felt the movie dragged in some parts, which is to be expected because as the poster above me noted, there is so much to condense into a movie. It really showed why it was so "difficult to make", I pretty much wanted to beat the shit out of Silk Spectre II the entire movie. I don't know if that is normal, or wanting to kick in Nite Owl II's pussy whipped ass. God. But it was a generally OK movie I guess.

I read the comic, and really enjoyed the movie. I found myself eagerly anticipating parts I knew were coming, with kind of took me out some of the slower parts though. The two friends I went with who had no idea that this was even a comic loved the movie. I think they like the fact that it wasn't your stereotypical superhero movie. When I told them that there was really only 1 person with real super powers in this movie before we went in, they seemed sort of disappointed. They walked out rather amazed though.
