You act as if just cause I mentioned playboy that is all I watched. Hell, my parents watched the "Faces of Death" videos with me.

Lol, at the "Ren and Stempy". Yeah, those cartoons got away with a lot of shit. But of course when I was younger I didn't get half of the sexual undertones.

It sounds strange...but I was actually waiting for the dong moment...just cause...

I hadn't heard of The Watchmen before the announcement of this movie way back when. I'd never really been a fan of DC since I never had time to read and catch up on their stories, but I came out with a new appreciation for it. I can say I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and would recommend it.
Idk how I missed this, fucking LOL.

I'm 28, and I think I was too young to see the watchmen.

Just got back from watching it, and I loved it. The music was well placed, especially Hallelujah, lol.

I just got back from seeing it, I thought it was great (never read the gn, but downloading it atm)

Also, as long as the kids are not loud, I couldn't care less that they are there with me.

So saw it last night and was rather underwhelmed. Most of all I found the extreme violence and sex really out of place with the movie and the source material. The fact that the film depicted Laurie and Dan killing the thugs in the alley really goes against their characters and makes them just as "bad" and amoral as Rorschach.

I really never felt like the movie had a life of its own. Snyder's earlier work in 300 created a completely absorbing, if totally over the top, world for the audience to inhabit during the viewing period. Watchmen left me feeling very cold and uninvolved. Maybe it's because I am such a fan of the graphic novel and I was thinking about all the connections to the original work, but I would have gladly welcomed some more intelligent or artistic changes to adapt Watchmen for film over what we got.

I think my girlfriend summed it up best though; she said the movie "felt like they had read the graphic novel to see what happened, but didn't bother to understand anything about the characters or why anything happened."

The New Frontiersman at the ending was fine for those of us who read the comic, but totally out of place and meaningless for those who hadn't. The New Frontiersman was connected to Rorschach because they shared in his own ultra-conservative views, but that they were as unforgiving and uncompromising as he was in his pursuit of society's ills. In the graphic novel, the New Frontiersman represented the major shift to a new type of conservatism in the Watchmen's America. I can certainly see the reasons why the political subtext was changed for the film to make more sense to modern audiences, but it was so subdued it really didn't give the audience a reason to care all that much. Also, the dropping of the newsstand and 43rd street characters removed a lot of the impact of the principal character's actions on the lives of regular people. It just felt "impotent".

6/10 from me, and I'm hoping that a forthcoming director's cut may show some different things.

The watchmen movie was very long and more matter how they cut it the GN fans would never ever be happy.

    Thought that was pretty funny.
