Not going to go in to detail, but yeah, biggest let down of a movie ever. It was just horrible. So many good plot elements in there, but it was just executed so poorly.

I thought it was okay, definitely had to have read the comic book to appreciate it though, I liked the ending - the New Frontiersman drop, and yeah the newsstand scenes felt gimmicky to me, but considering the directors cut will have like an extra 30? min I'd assume they'd fit better.
Also, why was Dr Manhattan's dick cut?(Did he do it himself like putting the Hydrogen molecule into his forehead? etc etc) Only thought that really jumped out at me when I saw his wang lol
i did not need to see blue cock dangling in my face every 10 seconds.
I found this cool: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galle_(Martian_crater)
the smiley face crater is real, lol
I haven't read the GN yet, but...
I approve of the ending change. Giant alien squids? Eh. Even in the novel, with buildup time, that would be hard to pull off. Trying to shoehorn it into a 3hr movie already jam packed? Not a good idea. I think using something we were already familiar with (Dr. Manhattan) to accomplish the same thing was the better plan. You got to keep the spirit of the idea without keeping to the letter of it. I think thats important for movie translations of stories from other media.
Ok saw it last night.. haven't read the gn yet, probably will soon.
Overall I thought it was fantastic. The storyline & character backgrounds were terrific and very intricate.. so much so that although I understood most of it I felt there was some information that was either left out or cut out in editing (gogo extended DVD edition!)
The graphic violence was in some places EXTREMELY over the top, in some places it was perfect, and in some places it was underdone. Like, if they switched the level of blood and broken bones shooting out of flesh between the alley scene and the jail corridor scene, it would be MUCH better and more appropriate to those scenes.
All the characters themselves were great imo EXCEPT Night Owl. I don't know what it was about him, or the actor that played him, but it seemed like he was misplaced or miscast. I could be wrong - he could be that out of place in the novel for all I know. I just felt like it was the wrong guy in some way.
I watched this movie today and couldn't wait for it to be over. I could not connect with any of the characters, and it just didn't make me feel like I should care if any of them died.
The only one that made the movie watchable for me was Rorschach, I thought his story and the scenes where he was involved in were the best IMO. This movie was hyped up way too much for what it was… I wouldn't call it a waste of money but I won't go see it ever again to be honest.
to my knowledge circumcision wasn't that common amongst non-Jews during the time period he would've been born (late 1930s?) and yeah then theres the issue of his reformation, cause everything else about him seems to have changed to a new body which would also not be cut. In all though I think ppl are blowing the cockstuff a little out of proportion, considering the amount of time we see him naked, there is very little focused shots of his cock relative to other recent movies w/ cock in em (eastern promises/forgetting sarah marshall only ones I can think of)
Goggle is fuhn
By the mid-1930s about half of male newborns in the USA were circumcised, and increased to about 90% in the 1950s and 1960s (after World War II when the Armed Forces demonstrated the health advantages [134, 431, 432, 548, 591]). In the early 1970s promotion of infant bonding became popular, and ways of reducing discomfort in newborns were advocated, leading some middle-class families on the East and West coast of the USA to not get their boys circumcised. The folly of this became evident as research unfolded over the years, as will be discussed in this internet review, and the rate of circumcision then rose between 1988 and 2000 [392, 506].
I'll spoiler this, but it's not much of a spoiler -I approve of the ending change. Giant alien squids? Eh. Even in the novel, with buildup time, that would be hard to pull off. Spoiler: show
If I screwed up on any of that information let me know.
I saw this movie last weekend.. I'm not a movie buff by any means, but this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I have never read the graphic novel and went with some friends/family.
- I had no idea who any of the characters were thirty minutes into the movie.
- I felt the whole "plot" could have been wrapped up in about 20 minutes, not 2.5 hours.
- I had no connection to any of the characters or the world they lived on, and really didn't care at all when they blew up the major cities.
- I knew right away the "smartest man in the world" guy was a villian
- I knew rorshack or however you spell it would break out of prison. His mask was also annoying to look at.
- There's no way the night owl guy (who I referred to as "flavorite batman") could ever hook up with that hot chick. It's like King of Queens all over again.
- Dr. Manhattan needs to put some clothes on. Seriously.
- This has to be the worst soundtrack for a movie ever. I wanted to shoot myself during the Bob Dylan intro montage.
I turned to my friend about an hour into the movie and said "what is the point of this movie?" and he replied "I have no idea". The only movie I can remember worse than this was the batman with Arnold as Mr. Freeze, and that was a decade ago.
^fuck off hater
So its Spirit v2? Glad I didnt see it.
That was a pretty nice troll.
