Router Recommendations?

G/F got me a 80g PS3 for my birthday, now I have to figure how to connect a fuckton of shit to the internet, so I need a new router. I'd like one with a combination of wireless and hardline ports, I don't know fuck all about routers so I was hoping someone could recommend one that works well. Here's what all I have to connect:

Things that can go wireless:

Laptop #1
PS3
Wii

Things that need hard line:

Desktop
360 x2
Laptop #2(not incredibly important)
PS2(same)

We had some Linksys wireless that my g/f never gave back to her ex, the fact that he acted like some sort of tech whiz and that PoS router shit the bed after a month made me consider him even more of a douche. But yeah, I know to avoid that at least.

Just to play the other side of the story, I have owned a Linksys WRT54G for about 4 years now and have had no problems with it. I recommend them to friends and the majority of them also have no problems. It's been the most popular router ever since it came out. Of course there are issues with some of them, but it's the same for all brands.

Anyway, your standard Linksys or D-Link router will do what you want. Stay away from Netgear or no-name brands. Pick one in the 40-70 dollar range that is wireless-G (Not N, you don't need that).

Whoa, stay away from netgear?

Netgear reliably has pretty decent products, (sorry if you had a bad experience) out there. I have never had any problems with my netgear routers and switches at home or in the office and they work great. I wouldn't be shopping for anything network related at walmart even if it was my only option. I'd rather wait for something in the mail.

because I do use wireless-n, even tho I agree you don't need it. The gigabit ethernet is nice as well, but again, probably something you don't need. What I have found however is that it is a very stable router, with excellent wireless range.

Definition: In computer networking, a kilobit normally represents 1000 bits of data. A megabit represents 1000 kilobits and a gigabit represents 1000 megabits (equal to one million kilobits).

Is what I have. My router that i was using for YEARS crapped out on me, and I needed one in a hurry, so I went with this one. I have Ps3, 360, My desktop hardwired, and Wii, 2 PC's, and a Laptop running on it. Works fine I suppose, nothing is taking advantage of the N yet but I will be upgrading their access points to N very soon, it's just pricey to do.

I don't know if it sucks or not, but it seems to work as good if not better than what I had. The range or signal strength going to the G/B's in my house seem a little weak, but I'm sure when I make them N it'll pick up. What I do know is, My wired connections are better than they were on my last router. I don't DC from anything anymore, not even flicker unless the entire cable(tv too) go out in my area.
