New POL update stops passwords working

Mine was odd as well. It updated, restarted POL and logged in. But when I closed and reopened POL with windower it stopped. I have a US account, so it's not just EU.

New York is not EU NO, Im just telling you what SE told me when I rang up.They said it was only affecting EU accounts hence the word 'apparently'

After the PlayOnline version update on Jul. 18, 2008 at 13:20 (GMT), we confirmed that players are unable to log into PlayOnline Viewer due to message stating that the PlayOnline ID or the password is incorrect. The issue is currently being addressed, and new updates will follow as additional information becomes available.

EDIT: On Alexander, if that makes any difference.. tried logging in onto a different POL account that is on my comp, got same error.
Dunno wtf, as mentioned a few posts under mine it must be a random shot, what a pain in the ass lol >_<

Can you please paste the text of the linked article for those of us at work who cannot access that website? Same thing happened to me this morning and i was floored thinking I was hacked. Hoping this is the problem that I'm having.

Yeah, I had this when I got on this morning. Was the impatient dumbass who reinstalled everything only to find out later that it was a fuckup on SE's end. Xbox logins still work, seems that so far it's only a PC issue (at least it was for me). I am actually on POL now since apparently they fixed something.

I'd wait it out, haha.

They cannot reset passwords and apparently it's nothing to do with the update.This happened JUST before the update was put on according to SE and its only affecting EU players apparently.

I don't live in Europe and it's happening to me.

Correct. I had no POL update on my xbox.

Yeah seems SE was just fobbing me off when they said this.Looks like it's a worldwide issue.Am going to wait till a few have tried this save password thing and it works before I do the same and screw it up completely

That method doesn't work because even though I have it saved, it's clearly not using that password. Mine is ******* and the login password thing displays ****.

I used this and it is a working fix.

Both my NA and EU accounts are fine with and without windower.
