New POL update stops passwords working

Just a quick note. I changed my PW (or at least thought I did) during the process when it was having issues. After the fix I still couldn't log in until I used my previous password. If anyone else is in the same boat, try your old one as well then you can just change it again if need be.

So just to be clear on this since I won't be able to try to login until after work today...

You have to download a new update, and the issue will be resolved? To my knowledge you have to actually login to be able to get any update. So the fact that you can't login prevents you from getting the update, right?

Does this mean that I need to click the "Check Files" button (like someone suggested a few posts back) and then it will force an update without me having to login?

Sorry if some of you find this repetitive, but just trying to make sure that the solution is spelled out for those that are not able to try until their work day is over.

Also, has SE posted any update about the situation?

POL updates load as you click the log in button but before it processes your password and such. Via the file check option you can even update the whole game w/o having to log on into the game or POL.

So yeah, you can fix your broken POL wheter your password works or not.

Thank you, now I just have to wait another 5 hours to get home and see if it if SE or the Hackers that are going to be laughing at the fact that I couldn't log in.

I guess we know now what this "internal specification" changing is about. My guess is that they're changing the encryption/storage method of passwords, and somehow broke backwards compatibility this morning.

POL updated when trying to dualbox a friend and then got the error after it restarted. Happens when opening playonline by any method. Can't log off my character now in case I can't get back on D:

Would rather not have to reinstall ;|.

Anything on this?

You get that error because you're still logged on to POL and it can't overwrite the files you're using by still being logged on. Thats assuming you're using 2 chars on the same pc.

Sounds about right . Remembered that you can reinstall the POL client/Tetra master part from the disc and not affect your game so was fixed fairly quick.

Japanese POL/Account, I've had a POL update one and a half day ago, incorrect PW msg upon connecting... I closed POL and retried and it worked immediatly. Has been working so far although I got another POL update yesterday.
