    A few points:

    1) I've never claimed that Bob Barr is the perfect candidate.

    2) I've never claimed that Bob Barr has any chance whatsoever of winning. This point makes point number 1 a lot easier to accept.

    3) I think that Obama would make a better President than John McCain.

    4) I don't think that Obama has the courage of his convictions to actually go through with his campaign promises, this is why I think he's just like every other politician.

    5) Seeing how I think Obama is going to win, I really hope that I am wrong about point 4.

Point of the article IMO is not to be mindless sheep. Too many people simply vote on party lines and don't listen to a damn thing politicians say and look at their voting records.

It's painfully obvious that politicians know this and even more dangerously so, special interest funding. Personal and corporate agendas are getting shoved down people's throats and I would be willing to wager that over half of voters aren't even remotely aware for it.

lets all just hope for change...

    hope for change...

    I'll take actions over hoping.

Then again, both are toolbags that don't seem to have ways to fix the actual problems.
    Oil, illegal immigration, taxes, war.

Drill it up in Anwr silly tree hugging hippies. Illegal Immigration, screw amnesty... make a huge ass wall and say if you can help the US lets make it easier for you to come in legally. Taxes... screw you welfare and every other lets make communism sound like democracy, big ass government grants so people can drill for ice in Alaska, and every other stupid pork barrel garbage thing that we as tax payers pay. That includes socialized health care. Freddie Mac? Guess what, you shouldn't have loaned money to Bob the Builder who can't afford tuna fish let alone a big ass house. Oh and Bob... Guess what, you shouldn't have bought it knowing this. War... either A: Put 100% into it and blow the ever living fuck out of everything or B: Pull out everyone at once.

Then again, I'm not running for politics nor ever will. My ideas are apparently too stupid.

    at least you're honest

But seriously, it seems like people who say obama has no substance haven't bothered to read his policy, which does go into detail, or look at his senate and illinois political history. Of course on top of that, it's pretty contentious ground to demand proof of action from any candidate following the exit of an incumbent- no one really has experience with the position, unless they're a former VP.

You just believe too much. Obama did and does what he needs to do to make it into office, lie and give empty promises. It's just that a Presidential hopeful that doesn't lie has no chance winning the vote in our world.

So you can believe that he's sincere, you can believe that he'll change America, but in the end you're just another sucker. All he's going to do is latch on to his party and ride the wave, just like all the rest. To get real change you need to get rid of the two party system or greatly diminish their influence in the government, and that's not going to happen anytime soon.

spoilers: I don't believe that Obama is gonna turn America into a true socialist democracy.

He will, however, not follow the course the country is currently on, which is the course McCain intends, for all intents and purposes, to keep following. Is that so hard to understand? I also like how you have some sort of prescience about Obama's promises all being empty- I didn't know spice was real, can I have some? Anyway I thought I already posted the uselessness of the antipathic naysaying of the "wah wah politicians don't do nuthin, I'm gonna forward this email" so I don't know why you bothered responding with this.

The Baby Boom Echo is nothing like their parents and its disappointing. We seem to care more about our Facebook than many of the other injustices that are occuring around the world.

The problem is inaction. Not like it means a thing to spell it out, and i was going to post a lot more boring things to make it seem like i know what's going on but now i don't feel like it.

I'm surprised he didn't suggest Countdown; that's totally more fair and balanced than what Fox News has.

Just because you find a way to suck Obama's cock in any and every political thread on these forums when in the end he's just a Democrat that's going to do what the Democrats want him to do. If he doesn't he just wont get anything done at all. It's the curse of a two party system, everything is homogeneous and change is nothing but a talking point.

I'm also not saying that politicians wouldn't change America, I'm saying they can't when they just toe party lines. Independents could bring about real change, sadly they can't get elected - not because people don't like what they stand for - but because they're viewed as stealing votes and having no chance from the start. So in the end Obama as an Independent would be completely believable and hell I'd probably be on the band-wagon, however Obama as a Democrat might as well wear a sign that says "will say what you like to hear for votes". Giving the benefit of the doubt to any of the two major party nominees is just plain naive.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Fix'd for acccuracy. I don't watch the news, but I keep up with newspapers(still biased but not to the extreme fox, cnn, nbc, etc are) and the internet because I can't stomache the stuff that major broadcasters put out.

Thats a bunch of Bullshit. you think an Independent President would get more done? Lets face it Independents Lean on way or the other and in the case of Lieberman only became an independent because he is scorned by what he believes was betrayal by the DNC. So now he's doing everything in his power to undermine them. hows that for an Independent? They are classified by either Republican or Democrat when they get assigned to committees. Your view that they somehow are free from Party lines is also misleading. they still have constituents to consider. Bernie Sanders is a Socialist Idealist and the Guy he replaced Jim Jeffords was a republican until 2001. You think all ties to the party are severed when he "changed parties" that somehow he woke up one day and completely abandon everything he believed up until that point? Now that would be Naive. All Independents are is either Conservative Democrats or Moderate Republicans.

Oh fuck off. Gee, I guess all the sudden agreeing with a particular candidates policies makes you a cocksucker. You just toe a different party line and think you're fucking special because of it; you're the hipster snob in this scenario. Did it occur to you that some people want to get out of Iraq, want to pursue alt energy in lieu of getting the next oil fix, want healthcare, want the progressive taxes of the 90s back, want more opportunities to earn college money, etc? And that maybe some don't agree with "independents" like Barr or Nader? On top of that, I do have my criticisms of Obama (FISA vote, and he should be giving a stronger "fuck you" to people perpetuating lies about him and giving him heat over personal, non-political relations, I'd like to see single-pay universal health care, etc) but that doesn't change that of the two currently realistic options, he best represents my interests. Further, he has received more public confusion about who he is and what his policies are than any candidate I can think of- is he a secret muslim socialist no-policy pro-terrorist policy raising middle class taxes black power troop hating appeasing financial-aid receiving elitist fist jabber? so I tend to feel a little more motivated to clear blatant bullshit up. And if you try to deny the man's talent as a politician (WHICH EVERY ELECTED OFFICIAL IS), you're delusional.

I'm all for expanding the political horizons in this country- I'm a socialist myself- but in the mean time there's nothing wrong with using what tools and options you have available to try and change things for the better. Sure it'd be great to have a parliamentary Congress with a directly-elected president using runoff votes, but we're not there yet. But instead of being productive in the mean time, you espouse being a two-bit hack playing out the tired "dey'r all jus politishunz and dey all sux an all da same" bullshit thinking you have some great fresh idea.

It's occurred to a lot of people. Namely Obama's Campaign manager.

Nope, can't even let someone make a snide comment about Obama without 2-3 of his henchmen coming in here all riled up and throwing a fit. God forbid someone have a differing opinion about your prophet than what you have.
