It's too funny how people can read too much into trailers of all things. I'm satisfied with how things worked out with almost everyone. Ty Lee joins the Kyoshi Warriors, where I think she fits. We're not too sure of what is going on with Toph, though she seemed happy. Mai gets Zuko back (who she threatened, and that was awesome.) Sokka gets to be scared shitless of Ty Lee in make-up now, Zuko becomes Fire Lord, Aang gets Katara at the end, and everyone lives happily ever after.
"Shipping" boggles my mind. I'm not into fan-fiction, but as far as I know it comes in two varieties. First there's supplemental, you're trying to add an untold chapter to the story. Maybe something like Iroh's escape or the fall of Omashu. Then there's more of a "What if..." kind of story, where you take the story in some direction other than the one told in the "canon" media. With that option open, why should anyone care, for the purposes of fanfiction, who ends up with who.

On another forum I saw links to videos of people actually CRYING because Zuko didn't end up with Katara. People need to get some perspective.

And like you said, Ursa did kill Azulon. Ozai tells Zuko what happened to her during their confrontation with one another. If you go back to season 2, during Zuko Alone, it confirms Ozai's story on why Ursa killed the Fire Lord. She found out from Azula and stopped Ozai before he could kill Zuko, and killed Azulon to spare Zuko's life.

I'm ashamed I remember so much but I pretty much listen to the episodes every other day at work (have the episodes on my iPod). It's sad knowing there won't be anymore but maybe we'll be surprised one day D:
Well yeah, that's what I was talking about. I remember those episodes because I loved that little subplot. Before this season, that was Zuko's only redeeming quality; that he lost his mother.

No kidding. People are using the fact that Zuko and Katara didn't end up together as part of why the finale was bad. Also that Toph's blindness was messed up (which I didn't really see) and other stuff people picked out. I also remember someone saying "Why wouldn't the Fire Nation fleet recognize one of their ships breaking formation and all that." WelL I don't know. Maybe the lack of radar and focussing on their batteplan at hand? Jeez. People will find anything to pick at.

As far as the canon/fanfiction stuff goes, I don't see the big intrigue in it anyway. Aang and Katara, Zuko and Mai, and Sokka and Suki are canon. D: Get over it people! Haha. Ah well. I don't really pay much attention to it. I like the relationships, but I loved the story more.

Am watching the encore on Nicktoons right now (another one comes on right after this, woot) and I love the part where Aang finally recovered the Avatar State and went Gyrobender all over Ozai's ass. Then when he's talking to him and about to finish him. That attack looked sweet, but I loved how he ended Ozai's rule without killing him, keeping true to himself. So awesome. I don't get why people are mad because he didn't kill him. Ah well. Rambling again.

There's some good stuff on Encyclopedia Dramatica about the "shipping" crap. I really don't understand how people get that personal with shows lol

Me either. While it's nice and all, I'm more about the real story. Then again, I guess some of it IS apart of the show after all. That and it's hilarious how the creators make fun of shippers in some of the episodes anyway.

KONIETZKO: The one thing we weren't joking about is that we really are helping on the movie quite a bit. Night has been very collaborative from the get-go, from the first time we ever met him. Very respectful of the project and of us. So we're helping out a lot on that. Also, we're just trying...we do have a new idea, and we're just seeing if it's going to happen or not.
TZN: Can you say if it's Avatar-related, or is it something new?
DIMARTINO: Yeah. It's a new incarnation of the Avatar story.
KONIETZKO: But, we don't know. We'll see if we can get to make it. There are things that we control and things we don't. That's all I can say.
The first question from the audience revealed that there is no "Air" book, and that the entire series was always designed to be a trilogy. They also stated that the Avatar world is still ripe for exploration, and that even though the story is ending, there are still tales that the two want to tell in the Avatar world. As a result, there may be some questions left unanswered (such as some information about Uncle Iroh's past), but that they're not done with the world yet.
Just some interesting stuff. I wouldn't mind the spin-off, honestly. This is one series I'd like to see with a couple side-stories.

You should definitely go back and watch the entire series. If you have Nicktoons, they air episodes there a good bit.

I remember randomly seeing AtLA when the show first came out and I was immediately hooked. I tried to introduce the show to some people but they were "anime snobs" refused to watch it because it was a) American and b) on Nickelodeon.

I was satisfied with the final episode...

The fight with Azula / Katara was pretty epic at the end, with Katara moving in water like that. The whole moving lionturtle island stuff with him giving Aang the ability to disable bending with his mind was kind of a "wtf" moment, but made sense as a way to end the show. Just wish the lore of the lionturtle would have been integrated into the show a little more.

I felt the same way until Akiyama reminded me of this.

Could that have been another Avatar getting "Wisdom" or something? Who knows.
It seems awesome to me now that there was the possibility of that foreshadowing. I'm going to be rewatching the series to see if there were other hints to it as well.

Glad to see some Avatar chat on here! I've been a fan since the show started. Great action, comedy, and storyline. Even the filler episodes were entertaining to me. I'm glad Nick finally aired the last part of the fire book, I was getting a bit angry that it took so long to air it, but it was worth the wait. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a spin-off, the franchise just has tons of potential IMO.

I'm really iffy about M. Night being involved in the movies though.....the majority of his recent films that haven't done so good have generally been of the same genre. Maybe he'll do better directing a movie of this type.......................but that's just being really optimistic. ;(

The final fight could've used more lightning bending, would have been pretty cool if Aang could've somehow learned to bend it before the fight, still satisfied with the end result, though.

Yeah. That was just one of the few things I picked up on that I had seen earlier on in the first, second, and third seasons. I'm not surprised people forgot about the paining. It wasn't like.. "Omg, pay attention to this now! It's important!" It was just something in passing. I liked that.

Yeah. A spin-off would be nice. Maybe a full episode of "Epilogue" goodness? Of course Zuko finding his mother would be nice, but as someone said... it'd just be a full episode of him searching, only to have him find her at the end. Eh, I shouldn't underestimate the gang who created Avatar. They did do a great job with the series, so maybe there would be more than just that. I cross my fingers for spin-offs!

Also, as far as the lightning bending goes... I don't know if that really fits Aang. The only two who were lightning benders were Azula and Ozai; both crazyheads. Even Iroh didn't do it. He fire bended on occasion and taught Zuko how to redirect it, not use it. I'm sort of glad it didn't allow Aang to lightning bend. I just think you have to have evil inside you to do that, and he doesn't. His Gyrobender state however trumped Lightning.

I liked the whole idea of the Lion-turtle teaching Aang "Spirit Bending", much like how the dragons taught fire bending, badger-moles taught earth-bending etc. Seeing how the Avatar is the master of all bending it makes sense that he picks it up straight away, and figures out how to stop the firelord without killing him!

I was listening to the Sozin's Comet episodes at work today (twice <.< >.>) and a thought occurred. Back in season 1, Roku warns Aang of the comet's coming and how he must stop Ozai before its arrival. But, I think part of that warning was about the Fire Lord burning down the earth kingdom. The spirits had already been seen to be able to predict the future (Koh knew the Moon Spirit was going to die before it happened) so if that's the case, why didn't Roku tell Aang flat out what was going to happen?

Speaking of Koh, I wish he actually did come back sometime during the season like he said he would when Aang left. There was more backstory to Koh and Kurik (water tribe avatar) than they had on the episode. There was a game on Nickelodeon that had a little more story to Kurik and Yangchen but oh well.

Yeah, I remember that. Kurik was awesome too. Too bad Koh had to be such a bastard and steal his woman's face. D:

And I'm not sure if Roku knew what was going to happen or not (just like the other three Avatars he spoke to in Part 2 of the Finale), but even if they did... they wouldn't want to let the Avatar cheat and tell him exactly what to do. They'd want him to learn and overcome Ozai on his own. That's what I got out of it anyway.

There was some hypocrisy from Iroh in the finale. He says he doesn't want to kill his brother for the crown because it would go down in history as a brother killing his brother for power. Yet, he sends Zuko to go confront Azula lulz. Though to Iroh's credit he didn't know Azula was Firelord but still, I laughed.

Haha, well when he found out, he was probably like "Oops", but yeah. He didn't know Ozai did his whole Phoenix King bs or anything. I rewatched that scene though. Order of White Lotus old geezers were so badass when they were taking back Ba-sing-se.

I'd like to see a kind of 1000 or 2000 years in the future kind of Avatar series, in a more modern Avatar world. Then the Avatar of that time can call upon the wisdom of the Avatars before him in his/her time of need and talk to Aang. In this way they could tell us about what happened after the first series.
