Unless we get a democrat for president, who might not be as inclined to pardon. I imagine if Obama won, not pardoning Bush would probably already secure his second term. I just wonder which state Bush would be executed in, and by whose laws. Texas?

Not even Obama would take the risk of assassinating a president. This will never get any legs, but if it did, he'd get pardoned.

well if it's a stunt, then they wouldn't actually want to go through with the hearings.

Domestically he was a rather strong president.

Don't believe every bullshit mass-email you receive, tool.

Actually, even counting non-combat fatalities, more military personnel died during the first six years of George Bush's tenure than during the entire eight years that Bill Clinton was in office.
Most of the numbers in this e-mail are completely made up. We were particularly amused by its bravado in providing a supposed source for the information – but anyone who bothers to check that source will find that it contradicts the information presented. The truth is that more military personnel died during the first six years of the Bush administration than died during the eight years Clinton was in office, even counting military deaths in the U.S. from accidents, murders, suicides and natural causes.

According to the Congressional Research Service report that the e-mail cites, the breakdown of fatalities by race during Operation Iraqi Freedom is more-or-less accurate, but the breakdown of total military fatalities by year (which counts both combat and non-combat fatalities) is wildly inaccurate. Here are the actual numbers in graphic form:

Yes, the only difference now I suppose is that there is actually gonna be a hearing on whether to have an impeachment or not. Don't be so certain though, in times like these people seem to show out of the blue with credible information. You never know who might try to testify.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

this thread reminds me oddly enough of Lewis Black's idea on republicans and democrats.

Repubilcans is the party of bad ideas.

Democrats is the party of no ideas.

If Clinton was a rebublican than even though it was a "sex scandal" I doubt it would have gotten to impeacement. I'll give the republicans the credit for anytime they want something they are extremely vocal about it. Granted though the things they want are imo often idiotic.

I would be surprised if the gets anywhere at all. There is a huge population of people that have been SCREAMING against Bush. The fact that we have had 2 parody shows, calanders with coutndowns is just a sign of how badly people hate him. Yet it took till now for us to even have a hearing? This is why the democrats are the people with no ideas. They know the right things that need to be done but never seem to do anything effective about it.

Granted this is my opinion, and a generalization, but it's funny how ever since I heard Black say it, how often it seems to be true.

I wouldn't quite agree with the "no ideas" part (or at least would say some dems out there have a lot of ideas, good ones included) but I'd say "no action" would be a fair criticism of the last decade.

I think that's what he was suggesting. And I agree with you. Democracts usually have the same way of thinking I do so I like their "policies" they just never seem to follow through with anything.

they don't follow through because every democrat has a suitcase full of pet issues that they can't set aside for more important things. Therefore they try to be all things to all people which is fucking impossible which leads them to soul crushing levels of infighting and inaction because they can't agree on a policy that everyone is 100% perfect with.

If you want to know why republicans have dominated most of recent US policy just look at how they put the small shit aside to band together on the things they think are important.

If I'm critical of the democrats it's only because their impotence pisses me off because I believe there should be greater balance. No one party should be running unopposed.

Good ideas? Like what? Social medicine? Heavy taxes on the rich? subsidized corporations?

What are some of these good ideas?

Transparency, progressive taxes, getting healthcare to more people, ending the war in Iraq, environmental initiatives, closing corporate loopholes, more opportunities for financial aid, etc etc.

Sorry your warped anarchism can't appreciate ingredients of a healthy society, but good is subjective regarding the majority of politics (or snobbily I might suggest subject to intelligence and rudimentary compassion).

What's a leftists definition of "progressive taxes"? The rich paying a bigger share than they have in 40 years isn't progressive enough lol?
