Iron Ram set is godsend for pld.
Iron Ram set is godsend for pld.
I wonder what's the body iron ram stat gonna be lol
+30 HP +5 Enmity +5 Magic Def. Bonus ...
I giant metric shit all over my Glt. Surcoat + 1 thats what.
/cry.
Completly agree with you. I only use Koenig body in my "oshit" macro(when Shadows go down). It may or less be placebo, but still it cant hurt.
As far as shield merits go, i have 5 jobs at 75(going to be 6 by September) and I still manage. PLD, NIN, SAM, COR, DRK. You just have to play with it a little bit. Prioritize what you will be using your merits on and don't put them into useless stats. I know a person who put merits into marksmanship for his war over shield merits for his PLD, which is just retarded.
As far as IR body goes, im pretty sure the image of it is already in the game. There is an elvaan soldier in the early curscenes who is wearing all the other pieces of IR set + red body. I really do hope it becomes more appealing to give me more motivation to do Campaign.
PLD is my main and i dont have any shield merits, mainly because i'm ridilberk war and i use mnk in salvage, but! Even with no shield merits, if you're working on a shield set koenig head,af+1 feet, and shield torque bring you to an even 300 skill. Which isn't bad at all ^^
If you have shield skill merits, you don't have enough jobs at 75. Having combat merits in several weapons for different DD jobs is good because (whaddya know) SHIT IS SITUATIONAL. Not every DD is the same job everywhere. MNK in salvage, WAR for meleeburn-tanking, DRK for zerging, SAM for straight damage.. The list goes on.
Shield skill only matters when your shadows are down. If you're PLD/WAR, what you're 'tanking' is a joke and probably doesn't need you there, you don't have another useful job, or both. It's not a useful merit anymore, times have changed.
1) Shield Skill merit, do you really need this endgame ?
/facepalm
Real PLDs get shield skill merits, if you try to argue that, you are dumb.
2) Gears swapping (that makes your model reloaded), do you do this ? - Assuming your mages don't play on PC and do not have access to BlinkMeNot plugin.
Try to minimize if possible, but blinking is ok.
3) HP max and MP max, how much is enough on average to keep you alive from 1 shotting ? - I'm a Hume PLD
Personal preference, I'd rather have more HP than MP though, as long as you have rdm/brd for refresh, I don't really notice a difference between my 500mp, and my Dhalmel counter-part's 310mp during fights. We both keep enough for cure4 most of the time.
4) Joytoy or Maha+1 when you're tanking seriously with /NIN ?
Maha always...
5) March x 2 or March+Ballad ? - I have haste gears up to 22% recast reduction from haste/fastcast but I don't have much +Enmity gears.
Depends on what you're fighting...stalling? Double march, otherwise it's typically march/ballad.
6) Does defense value matter at all with /NIN ? - I mean like 370 and 400ish def.
It does, but to explain it properly I would have to gouge out your eyes and pour windex down your sockets. So I will refrain.
I'll pwn j0, Tekspoof
Not pointing you out but people reading this should know that this is an opinion and you don't need to spend 90,000(?) exp on merits for this.
I know plenty of great PLDs who wouldn't waste their exp and time meriting shield because their exp is better in Hand to hand, Great Axe, Scythe etc. It isn't the end all fucking be all of the job. Grow the fuck up.
I know I'm a bit late to the party, but thought I'd throw my 2 cents in coming from a career PLD.
1) Shield Skill merit, do you really need this endgame ?
If you are wanting PLD to be your "main/career" job, I would suggest it. Technically you don't "need" it and can get away with it, but look at it this way. Go ask a career SAM if they think they need their GKT merits.
Personally, this is the first thing I capped. Especially since having the merits can allow me to use some different gear that doesn't have the shield skill if I want.
Basically, the shield is your bread and butter. If you want to be 100% zealous on the job, I don't see why you wouldn't want to do this.
2) Gears swapping (that makes your model reloaded), do you do this ?
Right now I only blink in a couple situations because I don't have a ton of gear at my disposal at the moment to blink like crazy. Those situations are Sentinel (Valor Boots), Cover (Gallant Coronet), and any resist swap.
In my opinion it is very useful to try to optimize your gear if you can. One thing I have noticed though is that until you get a bunch of endgame gear, most of what you will swap is all "internal" and won't make you blink.
Good mages will get around this, but do yourself a favor and try not to blink when you are damn near dying as that can easily hose yourself. ^^
3) HP max and MP max, how much is enough on average to keep you alive from 1 shotting ? - I'm a Hume PLD
I'm Elvaan and never have any major trouble with my MP pool. Again this is one of those merit situations that begs the question "how serious are you about being career PLD?" Unless you are considering being serious on a mage job, maxing out your HP is definitely nice; however, this is a merit category I am considering more of a bonus right now as there are several other merits that I consider far more beneficial.
4) Joytoy or Maha+1 when you're tanking seriously with /NIN ?
Joytoy is for fun/soloing. You'll always want your Maha+1 for the enmity unless you have something like a Hauticlaire. All a Joytoy is going to do is feed a HNM TP. Your job is to help control the hate and stay alive while doing so, so use the Maha+1.
5) March x 2 or March+Ballad ? - I have haste gears up to 22% recast reduction from haste/fastcast but I don't have much +Enmity gears.
Depends on your sub. If you are /WAR for some weaker mobs, I'd want some form of Ballad in my song mix. If you are /NIN, I always go with the mindset of the more haste the better. You'll want your shadow recasts up as fast as possible as well as flash. You won't be using your MP as much to cure yourself so Ballad really doesn't matter as much IMO. When I'm /NIN I'm tossing random cures on my ally rather than myself the majority of the time.
6) Does defense value matter at all with /NIN ? - I mean like 370 and 400ish def.
Yes. You don't want to be a paper doll when your shadows are down. There are going to be times where things just plain go wrong: the mob debuffs wear, your haste wears and shadow recasts are down, etc. You can get away with putting in a little less defense, but don't throw it completely to the wayside. In fact, the gear setup between my PLD/WAR and PLD/NIN really don't differ that much at all as of right now.
To everyone who says that def is important /nin, what does this entail exactly? I usually just stay in my ichi set (+shield skill) if i'm in a situations where shadows will be down for awhile, and pop sentinel if it's up.
Agreed....
Right now I am PLD/DRK/THF/WAR/NIN/MNK.
If I want to tank, I come pld.
If i want to DD, I come drk.
If i am needed as TH4 bitch, I come THF.
Very rarely does my war/nin/mnk see action so I have decided on 8 scythe, 8 dagger, and 4 shield. Granted war/nin/mnk are useful in certain situations that pld/drk/thf cant fill, but VERY rarely, and in those situations, missing weapon merits on them isnt gonna kill me. If you only have 20 merits to spend, you dont need to get 8 merits (+4) on 2 jobs that do the exact same thing.
No.
4 shield merits does not make someone a "Real PLD."
Fixed.
Unless of course you aren't wasting combat merits on sheild merits due to not having enough melee jobs.
But missing 4 shield skill merits that are only beneficial during the small amount of time shadows are down are?
