Stolen Account Transfered to Seraph

Characters original name was Aureal on Cerberus server. Yesterday morning we noticed him logging on and not saying a word in the linkshell. A few minutes later, he had logged off. Last night he sends a friend of ours a message on MSN saying he can't log into his account and that he might have been hacked.

I logged on this morning and checked my Friend List profile thing and it said that his characters name now is Frederricks on Seraph Server. He doesn't have a FFXIAH sell list yet. I'm surprised that who ever hacked my friends account wasn't smart enough to make it hidden for viewing.

NOW, the ironic thing is that Aureal was in the process of quitting FFXI. He had given away all his valuables to the LS and he only had on some basic gear for his NIN. So if you see this chum bucket running around feel free to point and laugh.

At least he was able to get rid of his gear himself, to who he wanted to have it, before he got jacked. Still sucks though.

Sorry to hear that guys... we've had a couple encounters with RMT hacking LS members as well, but so far there's been a 100% recovery rate from SE. That's encouraging at least.

Even if this guy is done w/ FFXI, he needs to call up and get them to freeze the account... RMT will just try to sell the actual character, even if it contains no assets to liquidate.

Yea, that is what he's suppose to be doing today. From what I remember though is that SE charges the card for the server transfer. I'm not sure if they refund it if its from being hacked. If not, that just sucks big time.

From what my friend said last night, Aureal was going to call SE to get his account frozen and canceled. He was planning on quitting anyway so I guess being hacked finally gave him the push he needed to quit. It just sucks that it had to happen this way.

Update: He canceled his account and credit card just in case. He's officially quitting FFXI. Sucks that it really had to go like this. =\
