Actually, that would make sense if you're dual weilding. But the dex damage boost still wouldn't apply. =x

And the only thing I'd disagree with a good mage in merits/other situations would be solo or tanking. You could merit 24/7, play a support role in HNM regularly and still not know what the hell you're doing or even be very good at it when it comes to low man manaburn or soloing where the pressure is on. But that's all experience.

@ Ruke: I see what you're saying about the jobs vs. players deal, and yeah I was thinking about it from the player standpoint. I would suppose that'd leave one exception in DNC still, from my experiences they're great in merits but pretty useless vs. HNM/Wyrms/etc, though still functional in the events where you face lots of fodder mobs.

Yeah the player standpoint is much different, but I just mean the job standpoint as most people argue like "my job is awesome in merits but I suck at end-game, nerf other jobs, buff my job" or something. Or how something is only useful for merits.

I have next to no experience with any 75 DNC. D: I've only seen /DNC, so it's hard to say. But I think that suffers more from the fact that no one really gets to see DNC in action anywhere outside of merits. I don't see why steps and such wouldnt' be just as useful at most other events.

My #1 merit goal is to make an MP-less party of SAM SAM COR BRD DNC DNC. Granted everyone would need to bring RR, but good god I think that would rock so hard.

The steps and such themselves would be great, especially since I believe they stack w/ Dia/Angon/Feint/etc, but it can be a significant TP cost to keep them up full-time, it's more an issue of the DNC having something to build TP on. Not an issue for events with lots of mobs, moreso for HNM.

I think my two biggest issues with trying to use DNC, aside from the needing to build TP thing (which can be pretty major depending on the event), are:

1. The DNC needs to be in the alliance to inflict steps, and that spot could be better used by someone else.
2. I don't know anyone with DNC 75 that doesn't have at least one other 75 job that would be more effective in pretty much any "serious" situation. Sure, I break out my DNC for low-man missions or whatever, or maybe farming stuff like keys if there's already a THF (and a BRD), etc. But for, well, almost anything that would actually go on the LS calendar, the spot would be better filled by one of my other jobs.

We have 2 other 75 DNCs in the LS that I can recall. One has every job in the game to 75, and one has WAR NIN SMN. So...yeah. The whole "can only heal party members" thing is pretty limiting too.

That's why the biggest thing that myself (as I enjoy Dnc, but don't want to level a job LESS useful than my main, War), and any 75 Dnc I know, hope is to get a FM meditate, or latent TP regain or something.

ANYTHING, so they can keep a pocketful of FM's at all times, even somewhere that you won't be getting TP and don't want a Dnc poking at shit, like Khimmy or Tiamat, but where extra cures/-magic eva steps could be pretty sweet.

Oh god yeah, I forgot about that, make Dnc cures affect the alliance, even if Samba is only party.

The TP issue isn't that bad once you get Reverse Flourish up and running and can reliably land Steps.

The main issue (in my opinion) is what you mentioned above:

The spot can be better filled by another job (including another job that the Dnc may have).
