And with wifi, some tweaks to the VNC settings, and changing your FFXI resolution to 480x320, it actually isn't too unbearable. Just don't expect to react quickly to anything, given how you have to input stuff. But at least you can log in, put up your flag, and go AFK all while on the road.

Only if you keep the phone from shutting itself off due to inactivity. And given how long afk can last, you'd better have it plugged in, too.

So far, connecting/disconnecting crashes POL when the screen flickers as you connect to the computer, so you have to start it after you connect (and log out before you disconnect). However, it may be possible to adjust your monitor resolution or tweak some settings so that doesn't happen, and you can leave FFXI running and just check in on it once in a while.

In that case, it could be pretty convenient for periodic check-ins, say for bazaar, AH, between windows to pretend you're there to help claim but really are just waiting for pop so you don't have to get off the couch until it actually pops, etc.

For afking, I'd probably just have a txt message sent to your phone number when you receive a tell.

It was an error as if from changing resolution/color depth (although it remained the same, but it flickered for a moment when the video driver hook was being used by the VNC server as I connect). Not sure what it'd take to fix it, but it may be possible. Or maybe there's a way to have it hook in, and leave it hooked in to the video driver so it won't flicker when you connect.

As for txt message on tells, I'd just have to get creative. Simplest way would be to use a chat monitor program that can make logs, then make a simple program to monitor those logs for tells and send a request to an online txt message site (or email your carrier's sms address, e.g. "[email protected]") to send a message to your number. A cleaner, more complex way, would be to skip the chat monitor program and monitor tells in memory, yourself. But failing that, monitoring logs is easy enough for anyone with a little programming knowledge.

Logmein used to work on my pc such that I could connect and disconnect (from another pc, not phone) without pol crashing, but since I have reformatted my pc now it crashes when I connect. >< I *think* it has something to do with using DualLink on nvidia control panel before, but now I just have one monitor. Maybe putting the pol window on the non-primary screen gets around it? I dunno, don't have time to try crap.

I did, and was unable to choose an option because instead of observing the state of the cat, I could have simply turned away, or burned the box, or been killed by a falling box containing a cat which may or may not have been killed by the impact.

Either way, the state of the cat is independent of my observations, and is not in a superposition until observed. What we call superpositions of unknown states are only slices of the actual worldline of the particle or cat in question.
