thanks, know if there are any save points whatsoever? that would be awful if there wasn't.

I'm gonna call whoosh.
Another example where sarcasm doesn't transfer onto teh interwebz.
damnit! wasted 20min fighting Zeromus to lose, i had a good strategy going have kain jump everytime it shook, until it started casting meteor and all that other garbage then I got wrecked =(
damn this thread is bringing back memories. FFIV was the first rpg i ever really played... on a friend's snes in like 1990 or something.
it's kind of a trip reading all the different strategies and buffs and things like that which are being discussed here... when I played it back then, I had one tactic: do as much dd as possible while trying to keep everyone alive. if i found myself spending too much time on raises/cures to effectively dd, i'd just go grind up a couple more levels and try again. although it wasn't "grinding" back then, it was killin more shit and gettin more lewt. I didn't really spend any time on buffs/enfeebles other than the obvious ones (ie cast this or you die in 10 seconds).
looks like i'm going to be picking up a DS soon so I can play this. cutscenes + voice acting + new graphics + all the other extra stuff + actually thinking my way through battles + FFIV sounds like a big ol' win to me.
now we just need to see the same treatment for FFVI (my favorite).
FF5 first.3D Gilgamesh 4tw. (FF12 Gilgamesh doesn't count, it can't touch the original..)
There's a save point on the last crystal floor (B9 or something). You'll see several doors, which lead to a save point, the Holy Lance, and a couple Ribbons.
Also, the rest of the floors after that one are a whole lot harder than the earlier floors. Basically, the easiest fights from that point on are against Red Dragons.
I haven't played the US version... but for JP I literally have to warp out every couple levels or so to save until I get to the last save point because I was dying too often >_>
I do welcome the difficulty increase though, in the original (both US and JP) I pretty much never wipe with minimal leveling. This is a bit more like it!
I keep going into fights with sound strategy and ending up in a struggle for my life. I was cruising against Cagnazzo when he got off a really fast tsunami and I had to fight to recover. I accidentally fought the Magus Sisters without saving first and that turned into a pretty long fight. I barely beat Barbiccia after thunderbolt killed everyone except Cecil and Yang. And finally, last night it took me forever to beat Golbez in the Dwarf Castle after he kept casting -ra spells while I tried to both raise Rosa and keep Rydia alive.
I'm enjoying it.
I never played the original so..
Spoiler: show
I mean, I thought that until FuSoYa explained Cecil's background and reveled it.
fuck seal cave lv 51 got 2 chimera back attack near a save point. guess what!!
yes both did blaze at start and i wiped, need to restart now ...
Love the remake of the game itself, but idk about the new soundtrack. Its all the old music but its been upgrade and some of that battle music is almost distracting. On the other hand its 13 years and it had to be remastered plus you get a DVD with the OST cd thats kinda cool. Not sure why everything out of Square music section has to be louder these days but still the same great game and worth it.
5 please, not quite as good a story, but way more fun to play through.
I dunno if they changed it in this version, but try casting lightning magic on that goblin. He even does Libra on himself so you can see it's his weakness, can't go wrong right?
Heh. Heh.
They haven't, lol. He still goes HAHAFUCKERMADRAPEYOURASS afterwards.
I didn't try it cause I literally run from every fight pre-b8 in subterrane, now the only problem left, is to not get crushed my Zeromus' meteor, he kills everyone in my pt (cept cecil) everytime with it and I even went from lvl62>67 to see if it would help with surviving against it, and guess what, it didn't Q_Q.
any tips on not getting raped by it? big bang brings everyone (minus cecil) to 700-1000hp if that gives any indication on if i'm too low of a level
GFAQs guide suggests 75-77 for average party level. I've been following it and have yet to actually have any trouble on boss fights.
