Oh yeah... who cares about getting the best loot in a game when all the mobs scale? The game's difficulty will be the same as if you have the worst or best gear... just sounds dumb

yeah Im just gunna rent it tomorrow morning and play through it, when its 20 bucks ill pick it up and finish off teh achievements, kinda sad its gunna be so poor. Guess have to look forward to merc's 2 and starwars next month ;/
Yep and at the time I disagreed with you at the time, open mouth insert foot I guess.
I'm buying it for the mythology, myself; I'm a huge nut for adaptations of ancient mythos, especially into a science fiction setting (I *adored* Stargate SG-1, even without Richard Dean Anderson).
I played the demo and the controls take a little getting used to, but once you get into the swing of it I think using the right stick to attack is pretty fluid. It also looks pretty, and co-op always adds a good deal of entertainment value.
What's even worse about this game is it has been in devolpment for like.. over 10 years. Since N64. There is no reason a game shouldn't be perfect after that long of a time. I also find it pretty funny that they blamed a lot of development problems on Epic/Unreal Engine. Everyone and their mother uses Unreal Engine for everything and doesn't seem to have many issues with it. Not all of those are necessarily GOOD, but still, they get the job done. They were just looking to point fingers I think.
I loved Eternal Darkness and was hoping for a sequel, but instead we get this crap. Oh well, here's hoping for the next one ;/
Re: Epic/Unreal, I think the fiasco goes back a lot longer than you'd think. Basically as I understand it, they had some contract with Epic before UE3 was even available, and the lawsuit they've now carried out seems to state that Epic didn't follow through on that original contract, which delayed their production timeline while they worked out creating their own system in its place so they could get Too Human out the door. Epic says SK fails at reading comprehension, that the contract was only promising a tech demo available by a specified date, not a working toolkit, so they're countersuing for failing to pay out on delivered goods.
The whole thing is pretty funny, and while I might think Too Human is worth my money, I think Dennis Dyack is in over his head with the hype about it, especially after this little gem and the lawsuits.
I'm not really looking for Too Human to be the best game of all time, and while I do expect a certain level of polish from it I think it achieved that even with the demo. To me, the minor complaints about things like camera control is like people complaining that there is no jump button in BC:R. The way I see it, the parts they designed to be really enjoyed are enjoyable without anything else making it a painful process, so it's worth playing I figure.
Maybe I just have very low expectations and am easy to please, lol ;/
Well you have to remember they had the story down and a concept. I highly doubt theyve been working with a working engine for 10 years. That aside, the controls aren't really that bad, but if there really is very little story then that's sad cause that's what i was looking forward to. Ah well theres still Mercs 2Oh and Far Cry is looking sexy
There was a game on the PC years ago, whose name I unfortunately can't remember, that had a 10+ year dev cycle, and upon it's release, turned out to be a gigantic steaming turd. The bulk of the problems came from the game constantly being reworked to incorporate new technology and as a result the actual gameplay suffered incredibly.
I got banned from Monster Hunter because I used my GamesharkWas a fun game. Too bad the areas were so ridiculously small. Especially when the game is based on tanking on massive monsters. I do remember hating that fucking sandshark thing in the desert though. They need to make a new version of that game, I would definitely pick it up.
as mediocre as it looks, I'll still probably end up picking this up anyway. I'm somewhat picky about my games so for me there's almost nothing I want to play until mid/late september, since Rise of the Argonauts got pushed back and I haven't made up my mind about Infinite Undiscovery yet. That and the mythology stuff looks neat, however sparse it is.
Supposedly this is just the first game in a trilogy, but so was (lol) Advent Rising. Hopefully it does well enough that Silicon Knights can learn from its mistakes when they make a 2nd.... I just hope it doesn't take them another 14 years to release it (eternal darkness was in development for 10+ years as well, they have a really bad record lol).
ya, I will more than likely play it but it doesn't excite me as much as some other releases this year for some reason. It seems like something I'd wait a week or 2 and pick up used (the gamestop by my house has people who trade in new releases really quickly after they come out, so long as they aren't RPGs). I guess I'll wait on reviews but with the hype the game is getting I'm guessing it'll be GOTM for september in every gaming media outlet. But my anticipation for it isn't anywhere near as strong as it is for stuff like Fable2, Fallout3, Dead Space, Silent Hill, and Rise of the Argonauts.
Im there with you on all of those titles, their on my buy list, already have most of those paid for, btw if ur lookin to preorder a few of those circuit city offers free gift cards with a few of those titles if you preorder online.
Im def getting fallout 3 on 360 it has exclusive DLC, and historicaly bethesda offers very nice DLC.
i even bought horse armor ^o^ ....granted I got the points for free when I worked at gamestop, but yeah, can't wait for that one. I'll most likely get every game I mentioned for 360 over ps3, I don't really have many people on my psn friendlist and the addition of achievements, however insignificant, is still technically getting more for my money.
I like achievements personaly in games because it feels like your accomplishing something and add's replay value of course, I just wish they actualy meant something. I'll be gettingmost of those on 360, might get star wars on PS3 just to have somthin to play on it besides little big planet and resistance 2.
