Rented it this morning, already played through it, took a little over 9 hrs, got a little over half the achievements, beside the shitty controls its a good game.
ya I've only had about an hour to play but I'm enjoying it so far, the controls blow and I'm having issues clearing the secret rooms (the ones with the time limits) in time, even with ruiners, but other than that the story seems pretty interesting and I'm liking the ridiculous amount of loot.
Very fun game, especially co-op. Fuck reviews, they're just someone else's opinion.
I'm playing a Berserker, and my friend's a Defender. I love tearing through stuff, especially with my Battle Cry (attack speed+), and skill points allocated to dual wield speed enhance.
My only complaint is that judging the distance at which you can slide is a bit harder than I would have liked, so I end up attacking thin air more than I would like. Otherwise, very awesome.
Well I just got the game, and I'm enjoying so far even with all the shit reviews...
Does anyone wanna play co-op once I finish it with one player mode?
Just spent 3 hours with the game. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the game actually handles once you get the hang of things.
The controls are pretty seamless once you understand how the game handles targeting. In melee, theres a blue circle under the mob that you can attack next, all you have to do is point the right stick in that direction and Baldur will go flying to take care of him. Mowing through hordes of mobs is as simple as pointing at each mob in succession.
It sounds simple, but it's a lot of fun when you're in the middle of juggling the trash/dodging enemy bombs/keeping your combo meter up/deciding who you want to take down next.
Managing the loot is pretty fun to. Theres always some new drop that you want to examine. Allowing the player to dye all of his weapons/armor is cool too. (For those who are allergic to teh clown syndrome.)
I look forward to finishing off the solo campaign so I can create/deck out a Defender. If that class is boring, I'll still have my Champion that I started the game with.
Edit:
Just finished the game. I'd give it a 8.5/10. Visuals were nice. Mobs were fun. I just wish there were more boss fights. The last dungeon completely trumped the first three, and made me believe that Too Human 2 will outstanding if they continue to get better.
I've been happily playing this for a while now. Picked up my first T3 charm, and im working on completing it as well as a couple of teir 2's to throw in it. I have to say, I enjoy the defender class, although there are some nuances that the game doesn't explain well, and you have to go to aesir and find the terminal to explain it properly. gogo 43 defender.
Defender has access to hammer/shield, which allows for shield bashes (mini juggles) as well as the standard one handed hammer attacks, but it also provides 10% damage mitigation, and uses dual wield damage modification runes as well as hammer, but does not use 1handed. Other thing I noticed that really pisses me off is how ambiguous some of the effects are.
EG: Soothing/Aggression (chance to not aggro/increased aggro range) and stuff like metalstorm (ricochet rounds and laser penetration through targets). Also, something to note is that your combo meter determines a flat XP bonus (1/2/3+% depending on tree) as well as allowing you extra slide distance. For 0-1 it looks like standard slide distance, and for 2/3 2x and 3x respectively. Also, good luck getting red loot, I've gotten a level 30 piece (terribad) and the teir 3 charm. That and loot doesn't seem as rewarding, although its fun if you're in the human alignment, because basically you get much better armor/weapon customization for the lack of weapons based ruiners.
Edit: Defender is basically as fun as you make it. You take little damage and can dish out major DPS depending on how skilled you are at keeping mobs juggled/doing 2in1's.
I got my Defender to 49 before I said screw it. My first intention was to get all the Epic gear for Defender, but quickly realized that theres no point because I'm not going to want to play the same 4 levels over and over once I completed the set.
Seriously, even if the game had 2-3 more zones I would have continued playing, but you can only run hall of heroes so many times before it gets boring as hell.
FUCK ICE/DARK TROLLS.
Edit: Also, what's the deal with fighting Hoad? I could only seem to hit the little platforms he stood on with ranged weapons, and dodging his little explosives was pretty impossible, so I just ended up walking in, standing right in the middle, and unloading ranged shots until I was dead; rinse and repeat.
Yeah the boss fight is designed like that so that you have to blow up the platform he's on to deal damage to him. Use plasma pistols as they seem to work best against his shielded platforms. Also, the explosive shells HAVE to hit you to do major damage, otherwise its like 3-5 damage from the aoe. tap right on the d-pad to see the damage display. I just blew up the platforms and then went down and beat the shit out of him personally.
