the only weaponskill that's remotely dangerous is eyes-on-me during azure lore. sleep him through azure lore and he's a piece of cake.

I did it WITHOUT a stunner, and with a ninja tank (who was in melee range the whole time for the later boss) this BC is not as hard as so many people make it out to be.

The place to stand is in the front square just in front of the hallway. You'll be in range of Alex's TP attacks, but far enough away not to be drawn in.

I did this as PLD/RDM, and I think /RDM is invaluable. If you think your RDM can get away with adding Phalanx II to the rotation, then PLD/WAR might be able to work.

But PLD/RDM lets you do fun things like this:

We had no stuns, and you shouldn't really need them. As I never lost hate (which, again, I attribute to /RDM), the WHM was to focus the curing on me.

Tanked this as PLD/BLU with great success also. Stood out of melee range and kept Cocoon up. Also took advantage of Auto-Regen trait (Healing Breeze + Sheep Song) and Wild Carrot's slightly lower MP cost (37) over Cure III (46).

Radiant sacrament is physical and basically everything is physical from the mob that seems magic except for the magic attack special omega thing.

RDM/BLU with tacos is good as long as you have jelly, earth staff, and cheviot cape. Other physical down gear is good as well such as darksteel on slots you can't get emnity. Keep stoneskin and phalanx up always. Stoneskin saves lots of mp and is your biggest advantage over other tanks.

nin/drk is good with hq arhats head body jelly ring earth staff and taco

PLD/WAR for defender or PLD/BLU with cocoon and maybe pld/rdm?. I'm not sure which would be better depends on how good your tank is for hate. Not sure if earth staff is better than shield and sword since it is blockable.

BLU/WAR Really good for cocoon defender + tacos gives lots of defense and has great moves to keep hate as long as your not retarded. Just remember estaff, jelly, and cheviot. Don't forget saline coat for 50% and 5% to negate alexander damage a ton.

Btw, if you plan on stunning on drk, even if you have homam pants + loquacious earring you wont stun the healing move fast enough if you have hasso up, unless your precognitive. So no point in /sam really if your just stun bitch.

I went RDM/PLD every time I've tanked this and I have never had problems. I have full darksteel+1, Umbra Cape, Terra's Staff, Jelly Ring, and macro in mermans, 4/5 coral+1, and relic gloves for spells.. it's incredibly easy. I chose /pld because sentinel is nice for building initial hate, flash is a good hate tool, and auto refresh adds up over time.

All the info posted here is pretty good, I personally tanked this as PLD/DRK and thought it did a pretty damn good job. Like the PLD/RDM I never lost hate and the TP moves from Alexander were focused primarily on me and not the other PT members. The ability to stun regularly was extremely helpful for me, I imagine a DRK/RDM or DRK/PLD could probably tank this just as good, simply back away about 6' or so from Alex and let the casting being. I think the winning PT for us was WHM COR/RNG PLD/DRK BLM BLU/THF and RNG/WAR. Magus roll was really helpful and contrary to the otherwiki strategy of the time which involved a "wipe" when he 2 hours, the wipe just didn't happen for us and by the end of the fight the mentality was "that was it?"

FFS for my life I can't figure out who our 6th person was.

And yeah, I forgot about Magus's Roll, it was really nice in there, although it does have really high defense, and as COR I really wasn't able to do a ton of damage to it.
