To date the most points I've ever made in a single Campaign was at Vunkerl, there were no NPCs and only 3-4 other players. I fucked up pulling one and got the whole train of Orcs, strapped on W.Legs/Terra's and some physical- gear(was refilling buffer from RDM tanking, lucky I had the shit on me), and kited around the tower for 40~ minutes until the handfull of players whittled down the train. Definitely wouldn't have been possible if I had come to the battle in random ass/gimped gear, I stayed alive, kept the mobs off the other people so they could take down the mobs, and earned myself a relative fuckton of XP/AN in the process(was like 2500, most I had ever seen at that point).

I bring my xp gear when I go to campaign. Brickwall stoneskin, MND loaded up slow/paralyze..fuckton of +skill for my nukes. If you can't hit the mob, or even put a dent in it, then what is the point in being there? Bring your A-game..

I'll never understand why people get bent out of shape about someone else having some outstanding piece of gear. Who cares what other people have, worry about yourself I say.

Honestly I don't give a flying fig about what people wear to campaign. As I said in the other topic I melee on my RDM. If you wear some "WTH/F" gear during EXPing or camping some HNM and then you might deserve the ridicule that comes from being a retard baby. But then again, I'm the type that wears my town gear nearly everywhere and then switch it out when its time to fight. I perfer looking pretty then looking weird with my actual gear on.

Then again I'm just kinda vain so meh~.

I think we need to create a pretty, pretty princess thread in the Media forums so Greenie can post fashion shots.

I voted yes, because I would have a very hard time going into a situation, including Campaign, with equipment that is poorly chosen. I'm not talking about having or not having elite x gear, but making visibly bad choices when there is other obtainable options.

However, I can see why people would do it, if you wanted a little xp on a job you don't have gear for you could piece something together and get in campaign rather than bringing down a party.

With the way battles have been going lately, it's ridiculous to think that being well geared doesn't matter. Ffs, it ALWAYS matters, there is never a point when it doesn't matter. Simply not having good gear is one thing, but being a complete smacktard with your gear choices is asking to be a drain on the battle. I know for a fact I could do better by leaps and bounds with a few more pieces for each of my jobs.

Campaign is not an excuse to be sporting obviously "wtf" gear. People are going to equip differently in a Campaign situation, but there's a big difference between a PLD running around with an Algol or a BRD/NIN with Blau/Joyuse and a WAR with a Schiltron Spear or a BLM with a Rune Chopper.

Gimp gear is gimp gear, no matter where you are.

But apparently there is no difference, at least according to quite a large bit of the playerbase posting in the gimp/whatever thread. I mean, at what point is certain gear considered acceptable or not for Campaign?

The gear I wear to solo in campaign, on BLM for example, is a max MP set so that I can toss that extra raise. It's surely not the INT and MAB bonus stuff I wear under most other circumstances. Yes, I've given thought to my campaign gear and I do have a reason for using equipment that others may look upon as gimp. No, I don't care what anyone else thinks. I'm geared "properly" for the task at hand.

Well, if people can't tell the difference between "Well equipped for the task at hand, even if that task seems outside the range of typical job function." and "Wearing gear that no one should even own, for anything.", then, well... maybe their the gimp ones.

As soon as campaign starts mattering to anything then I'd consider changing my vote, but all it is now is a solo venue for xping on jobs you can't/don't want PTs with. Is crappy gear the cause of the beastmen taking over most nations' areas? Doubt it. Maybe it would matter if there was a cap on campaign participants.

Seeing people poorly/ridiculously equipped in those situations is good for the lulz but not worth sharing with the world, unless you get off to that sort of thing. Some people just needlessly make it their business to post worse-equipped players in those situations just to feel good about themselves, not because it actually matters.

I've seen some non-traditional setups in Campaign as well. Not to say they are gimp, but the ideal setup for campaign isn't necessarly the same as for meriting, for example. Most of the better DDs i know in Campaign will actually put some thought into defense, since DoT while licking dirt is zero.

I'll still take a group of poorly geared smart players over a few well geared idiots in Campaign anyday. Prevent huge trains, massive mob TP and huge wipes at the source? Sign me up.

..and this is the sort of purposeful underachievement that's the cancer killing campaign. Yea, it may not matter to you, but it matters to someone else. The better you do, the better the player next to you can do so they can get the reward they’re there for. Your philosophy extends to your deeds and I don't care how you try to spin it. The type of person who doesn't try to gear himself properly is most likely to not approach anything properly. I saw 3 gimp MNKs at rolan in near full AF1, each of them was too stupid or cowardly to try to pick out the healer imps like I was and every time I did, they swarmed me like lamprey to the belly of a shark. Even they could have soloed the laughably weak leechkeepers, but they'd rather do what was safe and easy (and no, pulling leechkeepers out of defending mobs without linking is NOT easy), and that was shown in their gear. Earlier, when the Galka NPCs ran in, people started attacking the quadav with them instead of bringing down the healers. With Prot, Phalanx, Stoneskin, and frequent heals, the quadav were a wall that they were obviously going to break against. They put no effort into analyzing the situation and they rightly suffered for it, but that in turn brought down the entire battle and anyone who might have been able to benefit from it.. That type disgusts me. If you don’t try in one thing, you don’t try in anything, no exceptions. Take some fucking chances, use your fucking brain, and work for your bread, you fucking weaklings.
