You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

reality is even if everyone in the zone had maxed out gear you'd still be fighting in the cities. Why? Because it comes down to the fact that people are lazy. They don't want to have to port to different battles when they can just sit in the city and get fast fights. I noticed since the cities have been attacked battles happen way more often there, than going out and fighting in other areas.

Really there's an easy fix to this. SE just needs do impliment something similar to the region npcs in the present. Have certain gear only be buyable if the nation controls a certain zone. Or even have certain gear available if say you control an X amount of zones. Obviously the gear would have to be nice enough that people would want it. But I think that'd be a good incentive to make people not so lazy.

Until they make it worthwhile though to be in other zones, then I could care less what people wear.

    Proper gear always matters.

A strong balanced party can 6-man an entire Campaign battle by pulling them off one at a time, with the sole exception of maybe Warmachine, so of course it does. Also, Campaign isn't really that broken right now, San d'Oria owns everything except La Vaule, and even Bastok and Windurst are making progress with zones.

    *EDIT*

    More pseudoclaires, yay.

It isn't the gear that is the problem but the player. People tend to not work as a team especially when trying to take areas back with the NPCs.

I can almost promise you if the players would fight with Invincible Shield and keep him alive as well, Gustaburg would be claimed back easily. Same with other zones (Pashlow Marshlands may be stretching it though with that damn BST NM).

Campaign mobs (not counting the big boss ones) aren't like fighting Besieged mobs. Chances are your gear isn't going to make or break the battle if there is a swarm of people on said targets (unless you see people run around swinging staff or naked). Better gear may kill slightly quicker but in some cases people don't want to get unnecessary hate I suppose by wearing top top top gear?

There's no such thing as "unnecessary hate". If you're damaging a mob, you should expect that at any time during the fight that mob can turn and kill you. Unfortunately Campaign is populated with so many chickenshit retards that run away screaming the second a mob looks at them that the people who actually know what they're doing will usually end up dead because of someone else's stupidity. I can't even begin to count the time some reject has caught aggro from a beastman general and then tries to run away, dragging it right into a pack of players killing off the regular unit troops, only to die at their feet and proceed to get everyone there killed in the process as the general picks them all off. This is why i stick to DRG in Campaign. Super Jump is fkn amazing.

Suck it up and take the death, asshole.

Last night some brilliant BLM decided to Firaga III Raigegue R d'Oraguille and all his Ancient Knights and then run them directly into the players who were fighting Bakodek with the help of Leonoyne. Leo busts out Spine Chiller, hits all the Knights and Raigegue, pulls hate on all of them, and proceeds to get curbstomped. Of course, once he's dead Bakodek and Raigegue go on a murderspree. Good job, douchebag. Totally worth the 5 minute weakness timer you spared yourself.

Sorry, this has nothing to do with gear, except that no matter how well you gear yourself and how hard you fight, there's a good chance some shithead will take it all apart in one stupid action.

Sound to me its not the gear that matters, but more or less the way people act.

Ive seen people with great gear do the same thing people bitch about. Pulling a train of mobs and running away and getting people killed.

I love Super Jump in Campaign.

Once recently there was this JP PLD that kept trying to solo Orcs. He would switch targets whenever someone else would engage whatever he was fighting. So, after seeing this happen a few times, I went to his mob and started fighting it on my DRG. I pulled hate on purpose, and after he ran off to go find something else to solo, I used Super Jump.

Then I laughed as he died.

On the flipside I've seen people use crimson legs and kiting mobs around the perimeter and letting others pick off mobs one by one.

I do this a lot, Crimson Cuisses + Diaga is like the ultimate "fuck you" to regular Campaign mobs. It's especially awesome in San d'Oria, since there's so many diverging pathways a lot of the times even the Beastman Generals can't keep up.

It seems like a lot of the arguments in favor of this are about people strategically being morons in campaign, not having bad gear

Seriously the mobs in campaign are like 60 something? Gear doesn't matter as much as you think it does

HAHAHA. You're my hero. I never thought of doing that, but I've encountered a good few players that do the same. I kinda wonder why...

Well again, it isn't serious, but I like to use it for fun (yes, it's still pretty fun with the chaos in city battles), and little menial shit like capping my buffer for the first time ever and entering auto-merit land.

It sucks getting killed by a mob that someone pulled and couldn't handle, I've never had a fight where I killed people because I pulled something I couldn't take, dragged it past people when I knew I couldn't take it, and then instead of kiting, stood there and killed them.

I have had entire fights where I've kited three or four mobs from a near mpk though... >.<.

When your choice isn't kite or die, but kite into a wall of oncoming mobs, or die... that's when I start getting bitchy at the jerk who just dragged an extra mob or ten to me.

No offense to you people that care, but I do campaign for 3 reasons: EXP, AN, and Rank up.

Being serious and going omg we beat the beastmen ^-^

who gives a shit? I only do what's necessary to cap my exp =/ (no, I don't do the retarded /brd thing 65+)

Honestly, I do not see the point of ragging on peoples gear in campaign... Gimp people will be gimp. so what? It's not you.

Most people that play this game dont have the opportunities to get crazy good gear. Whether it be r/e or from the AH.

Not everyone can play the game 24/7, and have no RL.

Perhaps the time spent SSing, cropping, and uploading to photobucket can be spent doing something more productive...

idk. but again.... There are more important things to do.

Currently the poll is leaning towards no.....

Because not every one only does it for those 3 reasons. Some people happen to like Campaign Ops, the bulk of which aren't accessible when the Beastmen own the world. It also makes quick teleportation to outlaying areas, for things like Ixion, a pain in ass when the cities are constantly under attack.

I really hope that SE seriously makes some kind of brutal repercussion for poor national Campaign standing in the next update via the proposed "actions in the past affect the present" deal.

That's fine and all, but... I'd like to think that I speak for a good few people when I say 'I really don't give a fuck if other people happen to like Campaign Ops, etc'.

No one said you had to, but there are some people who do take campaign itself somewhat seriously because the national standing affects other things they enjoy doing.

I do much the same, only it's either Sleepga juggles or Gravity/Bind kites on an NM. If I had Crimson, it'd be even easier.

Looking at an attack group and reacting by breaking up the attack wave is the best thing you can do, if you're using a job capable of it. Every time I see a Yagudo NIN unit running up, it's like Christmas in July for my exp total and the battle halfway won the second I land Sleepga and start AoE-hate building.

Also, in praise of -ga spells...if you can crowd control, lobbing a few into a mass melee is goodness. You'll peel unoccupied beastmen off kicking the crap out of Allied units or a tank, get a nice chunk of exp for dealing mass damage, and yanking them out of the pack means fewer AoE-spam kills on anyone else.

Sandy, I can frequently outrun units just by cutting across corners and the like. Even the NM's, especially the caster types. Gnats are a pain, though.

I want to see the Campaign-level NM's replace the "old" level ones if a beastman nation takes all the appropriate areas.

People in Giddeus would piss themselves when they realize Beguiler or the like are now epic-level NM's.

No problems on my server with beastmen attacking city or lax of campaign ops, I'm sorry your server sucks.
