Lovely Top 10 (or 11 if you want to go that far.)
Really interested in the UCin program with their decent season last year.
top 14 of those are all very legitimate contenders this year, maybe 15 but honestly I don't think either of the techs are going to win a title anytime soon, TT is going to be freaking sick this year tho, but lol @KU @KSU @OU and Texas OSU Nebraska at home
little surprised K-State didn't even get any votes, Webb has potential to be amazing, if the lines are good they should finally get back at least somewhat in the mix, although losing Jordy hurts a whole whole lot
p.s. to the people that were saying big 12 is easier than sec, look at what I listed from tech's schedule above, now look at k-states:
@Louisville @KU @Mizzou @A&M @CU, Texas Tech, OU, Nebraska at home
lol? You think that makes the Big 12 hard? From that schedule you listed? >.>; Funny dude.
Louisville has no clue what defense is, KU will be a big disappointment this year due to their scheduling, Mizzou will be good I think, A&M... uh.. not usually a big contender, CU won't be better than 7-6, Texas Tech always comes in with hype and always disappoints, OU is good, and Nebraska is a joke.
Your point? And about the Techs, I do think Virginia Tech will be better than Texas Tech. Texas Tech may have an amazing offense, but they are lacking big time defensively. Pretty sure Georgia's schedule is the toughest in the nation though.
Pretty much any team in the big 12 can lose at least 3 games, some 4, without losing to a team outside the top 15, some schedules can do 3 without losing outside the top 10. (KU can do both, 3 without losing outside top 10, 4 without losing outside top 15) Quite similar to a certain other conference people like to brag about around here.
You wanna know why Colorado goes 7-6?
West Virginia at home
@Florida State
Texas at home
@KU
K-State at home
@Mizzou
@A&M
That's directly in a row btw
Basically my point is people can talk all they want about the big 10 and the pac 10 playing pansies and shit, the big 12 coaches have learned their lesson and schedule the best games they can get the other big coaches to make a deal for
sure, lousville doesn't look as good right now, the game was scheduled when they were like 9-0 at the time
I'm a little surprised at 6 Big-10 schools in the top 25. I didn't realize we were doing that well.
But yeah, if we (Wisconsin) can knock off Ohio State this year I'll be happy.
lol @ ohio state, thats a slap in the face.
Uh, I didn't look at Colorado's schedule this year. They'll get less than 6 wins for sure, and teams in the Big 12 can be disappointing and lose more than they should (Ohi Oklahoma losing to Colorado), but that doesn't mean the conference is tough. It just means that sometimes, they just played a shitty game. By the way, I just woke up, so I'm in a very bad mood and I don't feel like keeping my anger down, so lemme dig for a couple schedules.
Texas: They get Florida Atlantic, @UTEP, Rice, and Arkansas. Those are all easy games right there. Then of course their regular scheduling: @OK, Mizzou, OK State, @TTech, @KU, A&M. That's not that hard. Oklahoma and possibly Mizzou are the best out of those. The others are overrated imo. Next.
Mizzou: Illinois (Not gonna be as good this yeeear), Southeast Missouri State (they have a football team?), Nevada, Buffalo, and then their tough conference schedule includese @Nebraska (lol), @TX, OK State, KU at the end. Yeah... looks real tough. Next.
Oklahoma: Chattanooga (Wtf?), Cincy, @Washington, TCU, and then their conference scheduling of Texas, Kansas, @A&M, @KState, Texas Tech... yeah. Srsly? No fucking way. I'd die if Auburn or Georgia had that sort of schedule.
Anyway, my point is this. Everyone has shitty out of conference games, but most of the time, the SEC's shitty non-conference schedule is for a fucking breather because EVERY WEEK is a challenge for teams within conference, unlike the Big 12 (and Big 10 for that matter) who have cupcakes within their own division. It's like "Baylor? Yes! Vacation time." Even the Pac-10 had a tougher conference last year, thank god.
And I'm sure you'll pull up Auburn's schedule and throw it in my face, so I'll do it for you.
Auburn: Louisiana-Monroe (lol beat Alabama last year, I laughed.) Southern Miss (generally decent), Tennessee-Martin (Lulz), @West Virginia, and conference games of @Miss State, LSU, Tennessee (all three games back to back to back), Arkansas (Meh), UGA, and @Alabama.
If you want to compare Mizzou or Oklahoma's schedule to that? Then go for it, but that's one of Auburn's easiest schedules (not counting WVU) in a few years.
Georgia: Georgia Southern (joke), Central Michigan, @Arizona State, Georgia Tech. Conference games of (death row): @South Carolina, (ASU in between), Alabama, Tennessee, Vandy, @LSU, Florida, @Kentucky, @Auburn.
Yeah, both previous national champs back to back in October-November. That sounds like a fun couple weeks! Kentucky won't be as good this year, and we've talked about Arkansas having a huuuuge drop off, but still. The comparisons to the SEC are unfair in some cases which is why I don't argue em. I'm not saying "SEC IS > ALL HURKHURK", but I am saying... comparing some of the Big 12 schedules of the better teams to the SEC's sometimes is a bit retarded.
Also, only 5 teams from the Big 10 in the Top 25 I thought? #3 Ohio State, #12 Wisconsin, #19 Illinois (not gonna stay btw), #22 Penn State, #24 Michigan. Right?
My point is, I know teams beat themselves within conference because after all; teams in the same conference know more about that team than an out of conference opponent, but in most cases, the Big 12 doesn't have THAT many contenders. Last year with Kansas and Mizzou (even though Chase Daniels is a beast) were pretty big flukes, and last season in college football all together was a big fluke with the upsets.
On the point of Louisville: They'll be lucky to get 7 wins this year. Even if they sure up their god awful Division 2A defense, they'd still be lucky to get 7. I don't care of the game was scheduled when they were 9-0. Still a shitty game.
steve smith suspended for the first two regular season games. panther fans chime in with thoughts / feelings.
seems like a pretty harsh punishment to me.
If you learned to fucking read, you'd see I was referring to their whole schedule, not just their conference games that they pretty much play EVERY YEAR. And book it. Oklahoma State, Kansas, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M will have bust years. Kansas is OVERRATED. Know what that means? Texas Tech is OVERRATED. They have no fucking defense. I'll give you Oklahoma (Love their QB) and Mizzou (Chase Daniels is a beast) because I do think they'll be Top 10 schools, but the rest? No. No no no.
If you take your god damn blinders off and stop being such a biased prick, and read an entire post, maybe.. JUST MAYBE I'll give a damn if you care about my credibility. Learn not to look at the numbers, but maybe the entire teams before you argue with me. Seriously man. You're a fucking joke of a football fan in general, and the fact that you think you arguing with me is doing you any benefit, then I laugh. You just make yourself look stupider.
If the Big 12 had perennial contenders other than Texas and Oklahoma, I might give them some credit, but Mizzou/Kansas were both huge surprises, Texas Tech had Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree, and upsets were rabid. They aren't there every year like LSU, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee for the most part (not the year before last, they sucked), and such. Hell, USC hardly has any competition in the Pac 10, but last year was a great year for them. Big 10 is generally Ohio State and Wisconsin, with Penn State and Michigan doing fairly decent. Seriously though, credibility? And you're calling games against flukish opponents that hard? I don't even think Kansas played Oklahoma or Texas last year right? They had a joke of a schedule. Just stop arguing with me.
I read your entire post, as you called me biased you referred to arkansas as an easy game that shouldn't be mentioned when they're playing texas, and yet found them worth mentioning vs auburn.
How exactly am I the one that's biased when I'm just arguing that people shouldn't be bashing the big 12 and you're arguing that the big 12 is terrible and the sec is superior to all in every way?
Georgia is the only team in the country that has a schedule that could be argued right now as being even close to KU's.
Maybe if you learned to write you wouldn't have to tell people to learn to read.
Those are 2 separated parts, by your own making. The last sentence, "that's not that hard," is clearly discussing the 3rd sentence, and the 2nd is clearly discussing the first. You said it dude, claim that's not what you meant all you like cuz you can't possibly be wrong about something when arguing with plow, you yourself know it's what you said and meant.They get Florida Atlantic, @UTEP, Rice, and Arkansas. Those are all easy games right there. Then of course their regular scheduling: @OK, Mizzou, OK State, @TTech, @KU, A&M. That's not that hard.
All of your assumptions about the big 12's strength of schedule are based purely on the fact that you think half the teams will be busts (like the sec every year...), and that, plain and simple, is bias.
All I'm saying is that it's ridiculous to claim the big 12 has weak scheduling, get the freaking sand out dude.
Also, go ahead and score 40 points on tech, they're going to score 60 anyway.
You really are retarded aren't you? I guess it's the Big 12 teaching.
No where in my post did I say "LOL BIG 12 SUUUCKS ROFLZ" and I'm not biased. I mentioned Arkansas in Texas's schedule, and yeah, I mentioned them in Auburn's schedule. "Arkansas (Meh)" Did it really look like I said that they were a challenge on their schedule? No. I didn't. I said Meh. Do you know what meh means? Should I have said (Shitty team)? I mentioned the tougher opponents in the conference because no matter how bad Arkansas will suck, they'll still be better than the likes of Vandy and probably Ole Miss.
Now again; I'm not saying the Big 12 is easy. I'm sayinig that they are coming into this season overrated. Kansas is way overrated. I'd like to see them get the same amount of wins this year. I'd be willing to bet a ton of money they don't get more than 8 wins on the season. Texas, Oklahoma, and Mizzou will be good I'm sure. The others are just too high.
As far as Kansas having a super hard schedule... other than @OK/@Mizzou, and Texas/Texas Tech (since you seem to think so highly of them), where's a hard game? South Florida? Fucking Nebraska? If this were the 90's, then maybe. That's just my opinion.
As far as knowing how to write? You really shouldn't be saying that to me when reading your shit is like I'm reading something a high schooler wrote in an Instant Messaging program.
No. I meant as an overall schedule, it's not THAT hard. I guess I should have clarified? I suppose I thought that a guy of your age would have the comprehension skills to recognize what I meant, but I suppose I'll take the blame for "not knowing how to write." Sorry.Originally Posted by Me
I don't think all the teams in the Big 12 will be busts, or half the teams. I thinkt hey'll be back to what they were before last year. When was the last time Kansas and Mizzou had that sort of season that they had last year? Do you want to look it up or should I? I'll let you, since you seem to be a super supporter of theirs. I've said so many god damn times that I think Auburn is ranked too high considering what they are coming back with. I think Arkansas will suck. I think Vandy and Ole Miss will be back at the bottom. I don't think Mississippi State will be good either. Alabama hasn't been really THAT good in a while. I'm BASHING "my" conference openly. How can that be biased? The fact that the SEC has won 2 National Championships (who knows if it could have been three when Auburn went 13-0 in '04) means they haven't been the best? Okay, sure. Whatever.
The Big 12 has had weak scheduling for a while. Kansas had a weak schedule last year. Now they get a tough schedule. We'll see how good they are.
I don't have sand anywhere "dude", but face the facts. How many bowl teams did the SEC have last year in a "down" year with all of the upsets? Auburn could have been 11-2 last year if they had a DECENT QB in the South Florida/Miss. State games and didn't turn the ball over 5 times each game. They didn't get pounded. They got beat in OT and 19-14. They had no offense, but they had a Top 10 Nationwide defense. You gonna argue with that?
And LOL. You seriously think Texas Tech could have scored 60 points on anyone? How many do you think Auburn, LSU, Georgia, or even some of the Pac 10 teams would have allowed to them? No where near 60. Virginia held them to 31 (albeit Virginia lost), Mizzou held them to 10, Colorado held them to 26. Then again, they scored 49, 45, 59, 45, 75. OH WAIT. Against who? Southern Methodist, UTEP, Rice, OK State, and Northwestern State. My bad. Here I thought this wasn't high school. Other than the Oklahoma State game, none of those were that impressive. Scoring 75 points in a game is like a fucking video game, but do it against someone important. The Oklahoma State LOSS was also funny, because last I checked, Troy beat OK State 41-23. Georgia dominated them.
Also, since you have severely pissed me off, let's go back to last year's Strength of Schedules with the Big 12 vs SEC, since that's what you want to do; compare the two conferences.
SEC:
#1 LSU - 11
#2 Georgia - 6
#11 Tennessee - 14
#15 Auburn - 18
#17 Florida - 2
Big 12:
#5 Mizzou - 12
#7 Kansas - 60
#9 Oklahoma - 24
#14 Texas - 42
#23 Texas Tech - 62

So hmn. Other than Mizzou and Oklahoma... the other three aren't that impressive. Wouldn't you agree? Now this doesn't mean a whole lot, but comparing the schedules, even with the SEC's cupcakes, it's still a huge fucking difference.
I can't see the SOS for this year just yet, or at least I can't find it since the USA Today Poll only came out yesterday, so I can't do much about that. Either way, if you want to continue to compare shit, go for it. It was never about SEC being better than everyone. I never ever said that in that way. I just said they are more proven, and that teams are perinneally challenged.
If you want to be blinded by the Big 12 and not admit you may be wrong about some things, then feel free. One thing though I can assure you of is I'm done arguing. I've provided information to back most of my claims, I've discussed it the best way I could, so I'm done. No more worries about my wall of texts. I'll just go back to posting "I like cake" or whatever to make threads easier to deal with.
Stop talking about College Football. Go make another topic and talk in that or just change the name to "ITS FUCKING FOOTBALL SEASON!"
Steve Smith suspended by the team for 2 games for beating the hell out of CB Ken Lucas. Everyone in Carolina region will remember back in 2003 I think, when Steve Smith beat the shit out of Anthony Bright (a practice squad WR that never made the roster) and got charges pressed on him.
This is the PERFECT opportunity for Dwayne Jarrett to step the fuck up and play football. USC puts a lot of trash in the league as of late wtf. I am excited to see what Ryne Robinson can do with his expanding WR roll, he has been balling hardcore in camp. He played really well last season when Carter and company was screwing up.
Sucks that Smitty is gone but this is going to be interesting to see how our WR corp steps up in his absence.
Eh, I live in Gastonia, im sure u know where that is mizango, but yeah I remember 03 when he got in trouble over that fight, I dont care for the panthers at all, only player I give a damn about is peppers, huge heels fan, anyway, smith needs to grow the fuck up and stop fighting with team mates, its ridiculous.
