Good god this game is horrible.

Packers officially announced open competition for starting QB.

“Sixteen years after Brett Favre came to the Packers, he is returning for a seventeenth season. He has had a great career with our organization and although we built this year around the assumption that Brett meant what he said about retiring, Brett is coming back. We will welcome him back and turn this situation to our advantage.

Frankly, Brett’s change of mind put us in a very difficult spot. We now will revise many actions and assumptions about our long-term future, all predicated on Brett’s decision last March to retire. As a result of his decision, we invested considerably in a new and different future without Brett and we were obviously moving in that direction. That’s why this wasn’t easy. Having crossed the Rubicon once when Brett decided to retire, it’s very difficult to reorient our plans and cross it again in the opposite direction - but we’ll put this to our advantage.

Brett will be in camp tomorrow. Although there has been uncertainty regarding Brett’s return, Ted Thompson and Coach McCarthy had previously discussed this and have had a plan in place. Coach McCarthy will talk to the team and the quarterbacks about the plan moving forward, and after he has done that we will share it publicly.

No matter what, I look forward to another successful season for the Packers and our fans. This has been a tough situation, but the Packers will make the most of it.”

Mike Hart is looking good in the Colts backfield right there. Then again, this is probably the 2nd or 3rd Defense for Washington, but still; three straight carries of 10+ yards.

Yep this is one of the only reasons to watch pre-season football. It's good to see him doing well.

Colt Brennan made some really nice throws. Idc if they were against backups/rookies, he put the ball in all the right spots. Hopefully he does this for the rest of the preseason so he can compete for a job next year.

I like Jason Campbell a whole lot more though. He's got the moxie, he's really coming around, and he's looked great this off-season. I still don't think Colt Brennan will be able to match-up well with the best of defenses in the league. :/

Why not? He made every throw and he showed he's not afraid to go deep. I love that in QB's. Jason Campbell is alright, but he doesn't take enough risks. I think Brennan has that "it" factor, the ability to thread the needle and find the endzone. You can't teach that, and it's something that Campbell hasn't really shown. Although he did have a nice TD throw in the opening drive thanks to a horribly blown coverage.

Jason Campbell will never be a great QB in the league. But that's OK, because the Redskins are a running team and it ain't changing any time soon.

Again. Playing against 3rd string Safeties/Corners versus playing against 1st string safeties/corners does make a huge difference as far as making throws to the right spots. D: That's my opinion anyway. It's all an assumption by me though, but I just don't see him going 9-10 with 2 TDs against a 1st team defense with Bob Sanders and Dwight Freeney out there and rushing him. We all saw how he handled heavy defensive pressure against UGA in the Sugar Bowl.

Also, what's not to like about Campbell? He's fairly accurate and gets the job done. Zorn brought Seattle's passing offense with him, so it might help him more. He's got guys to throw it to.

To be fair, his o-line couldn't stop Gerogia with only 3 down lineman throughout that game. He can chuck the ball with some decent protection.

I was never a fan of jason campbell, I don't think he will be a long term solution for the redskins.

I think it will be cool to see Colt Brennan succeed in the NFL (love underdog stories), but I have to agree that he still has a lot to prove.

Last night was a great start though!

As for Jason Campbell, I think he'll be fine. He's not going to be spectacular, but he'll get the job done. There's a chance Colt will be better, but it's wayyyyyyyy too early to proclaim anything based on a 3rd string performance (even though it was awesome)

Honestly, how many good-decent QBs are there in the league? 10-15? Incomplete list off the top of my head...

Brady
Hasselbeck
McNabb
Romo (possible product of a ton of surrounding talent)
Big Ben (not counting the season where he went through a windsheild)
David Garrard (Don't think he can repeat that amount of success)
(I'm starting to get fuzzy and already using parentheticals to justify my point)

Well, it's not like Campbell is following a living legend like QBs have had to do in Denver and Miami, so it is a better situation for them.

My argument is Colt didn't really have that much confidence by the end of the game as he was getting pulverized in the ground. He didn't keep his composure, but yeah; I know. His line couldn't stop anyone that night. They were outmatched.

I'd put Campbell here, but sort of iffy really. If he's healthy, he's really not bad.
