We talk about Leinart though... and I personally can't stand him either. I called him retiring from the NFL after ~5 years though. I don't think he likes it much. D:
Again, spot on Akiy, Kudos for that :D In regards to Young everyone likes to ignore his stats and blame EVERYTHING and EVERYONE around him. What the fuck happened to accountability? A lot of my issue with him is this, I have been told that I should "support" young because of what he represents to as being a black QB in the NFL. I told someone once "he isn't hated because hes black, that nigga is disliked because he genuinely blows donkey cock..." If anything I have disdain for him because he perpetuates every myth there was about the black quarterback. Can't think, cant run an offense, can't throw but can run like a mofo. Not saying that is a fact but that is generally how they were depicted and thought about int he past. Sadly I remember REALLY good quarterbacks like Darren Studstill and Major Harris in the 80's and 90's getting switched to other positions because of this stereotype.

I am not trying to turn this into a race debate but I get sick of people rooting for him because you can "relate" to him or because he is being singled out by whitey. He isn't some sort of martyr or championing for the plight of Negros everywhere. The fact is he just can't play outside of running a QB draw or a sweep to the left for 6 yards. I am certainly not saying that about genuine Titan fans like Weltall, I am talking about people in my family and some of my friends and even people on this board that think they can "relate" to him. He's trash and until he shows me he can run an NFL offense and not get his coordinators fired, teammates traded and/or he mans up and accepts responsibility for sucking it up.

Stats don't lie. Haynesworth and that punishing D is the only reason they won that many games. Not to mention Boronas is the fucking man. Three 50 yard and One 60 yard game winning field goals anyone?

Ok I'm going to step down off of my soap box now. I just had to put that out there because I had this discussion earlier today. Supporting someone because of skin color when there is an obvious lack of talent is made of fail. I bet some people here think Akili Smith or Dennis Dixon is the next Dan Marino if they had the talent and/or playing time, get real.

Again, this is where you just completely shoot yourself in the foot. Nobody in the world is arguing Vince Young's raw talent.

We've had this debate here 5000 times, when someone else is making the playoffs from that division with absolutely no offensive talent around them whatsoever you can accuse Vince Young of being a failure. So far he's played 2 years in the league, in the toughest division in football, and made the playoffs both years. Who's blaming anything when he's getting the damn job done? You look at overall stats for his first 2 years in the league, ignore his actual accomplishments, and call him a failure. That's just silly.

Also, it's almost as if you guys didn't watch the last 6 games of the year where he put up 1300+ yards, 6td's/6int and a rushing touchdown, plus like 350 rushing yards after coming back from injury. If those aren't elite numbers (spread out over a season that's 3500 yards 18td/18int) in that utterly pathetic offense, not to mention down the stretch to get them into the playoffs, I dunno what the hell is humanly possible for him to do that can convince you he's not the trash you try to portray him as.

Not saying I am right, it's just my opinion and I will stick to my gun till the end. I like the smell and taste of chitlins and believe Kyle Orton is the savior of the Chicago Bears or for whatever team he plays for in the NFL. Right or wrong you and everyone else has the right to differ and I respect that.

To me the dude is garbage until I see otherwise. My earlier post was about how people (mainly Family and friends) say I should support him because of what he means to blacks in America. Which is what exactly? An answer to which they can not answer.

Exactly. I swear dude, I had the SAME argument with my best friend, saying he would take Vick with Crumpler over Favre and Sharpe or any other combination of QB/Receivers in the history of the league.

    I feel your pain lol.

Edit: But he was willing to concede that MAYBE Montana/ Rice or Young/Rice may have a slight edge. WTF???

That's right I forgot about them starting out 0-3 before putting him in and missing the playoffs in the last game.

Last season Young played a grand total of three games against teams in the top 10 of NFL defenses. Indi twice (1 of those against 2nd and third stringers). Lost the other against indi and one against tampa.

In 2006 Young played 5 games against a top 10 defense. Lost 4 of the 5 throwing for 3 TDs and 7 INTs.

I ain't saying Vince Young is a dumb QB who will never be successful against good defensive schemes, I'm just saying...if you have to dumb the college playbook down against college defenses, what else do you expect in the pros. Some of the best QB are the very intelligent ones. That's not a coincidence.

Vince young really hasent impressed me much. The titans were kept in games with good play from their defense last year(5th ranked overall) which kept them in games.

He doesn't have to be a great QB if his defense keeps the game "Winnable". Honestly speaking he gets the same criticism as other black QB's because only one black QB won the superbowl, its a sad honest truth and will continue until the next "Doug Williams" arrives. Mcnabb probably gets it the worst, guarrd will get it this year if he doesn't play well.

    Take Jason Campbell.
    or Jay Cutler
    or Alex Smith
    or Drew Brees
    or Brett Favre
    or Eli Manning
    or Tony Romo
or just about any good qb short of brady or peyton

    Put them on the titans

You now have no recievers, no threat to run outside, and a 2-3 yard a carry inside rush. But a guy that is smart.

Do you think they get to the playoffs? I doubt it. His threat of running outside is the only thing that keeps him from getting sacked 15 times a game and having to throw the ball away another 20 times.

As far as you people are concerned he has to win the super bowl with a team that was 0-3 when he took over in his rookie season to be considered remotely successful, it's just silly.

    Can we move on please?

Great post. The Titans would be worse with say, Tony Romo, as the QB right now. Young actually hit a lot of the WR for TD's last year that were just completely dropped. Our offensive line is actually really good, but everyone stacks the box against us on EVERY play. It is a miracle Lendale's fatass can even get 3 yards. Even with the single coverage, our WR core can't create space, PERIOD.

Romo isn't a threat to run outside? The dude is a fucking beast when he's forced outside the pocket. Instead of getting outside the box and running, he can actually check down and complete a 15 yard pass. Your justification is using hypotheticals? "Well, if you put x, x, x, x on the team they wouldn't be any better". Great post, got any evidence to back that up? As I said, Young has played in 8 games against elite defenses over the past 2 seasons. Lost 6 of them, and it would have been 7 if Indi didn't give you the last game of the season. Sorry, but if you are throwing twice as many picks as TDs then you can't say "He's took them to the playoffs 2 strait years". No, he's been taken to the playoffs 2 strait years.

Edit: They only went to the playoffs once right and were ousted in the 1st round? Was just going through schedules and missed that.

I agree. Romo outside of the pocket is dangerous. Not from his Vick like speed but because he knows his reads and can either go deep or like Ty said hit his check down for 15 yards. He is one of those QBs that is good inside the pocket but even better when he can buy time with his feet. A lot of teams tried to run a contain defense on him for this very reason, make him stand there and hope he gets jittery feet.

The Giants did a pretty decent job of this in the NFC championship game and when they forced that end clinching interception. You saw that one play in that Giants game when he got out of the pocket he hit TO in stride for a 48 yard TD.

Edit: lol I have to give credit where credit is due, I was watching NFL films yesterday and they showed the NFC championship game and were talking about this very thing. They showed a clip of Spagnuolo getting pissed at the defense because they let Romo out of the pocket on that TD Bomb to TO.

If I did this checkdown correctly too, the Titans, even if they won their last game, still would have lost the wildcard round to the chiefs. They had the same record, same divisional record, same common record, so the next checkdown is margin of victory. The Titans scored 324 points and allowed 400 points. The Chiefs scored 331 points and allowed 315 points. I think that means they'd of had to win their last game by like 100+ points to win over KC. Edit again: They put him in the 2nd game of his rookie season, not after starting 0-3. Even after putting him in though, they lost 2 more. Started out like 0-5, so it isn't like he came in and became a savior. Just seems to be all kinds of things wrong with plows post.

I remember that one play Romo made last year in the regular season where he turned like.. a 15 yard loss into an 8 yard gain or some shit with his legs. Romo is dangerous outside of the pocket. Hell, Eli Manning was dangerous in the Super Bowl outside the pocket. =P

Now if we can only teach Peyton to be dangerous outside the pocket.

That'd be awesome, but too bad we can't. D: He's screwed if linemen get in the backfield with him.
