The only thing I'm looking at is... did you just say Vince Young could possibly accomplish more than Manning? We're talking Eli Manning, right? Because surely you can't be talking about Big Brother Manning. I've always thought that Manning and Brady are both on even footing. We won't get into specifics, but that's always been my opinion.

I didn't insult VY directly, but I did bring up the fact that his numbers suck. If you'd like to ignore his numbers, and just stick to the fact that he's a good leader, and can lead a bad offensive team to the playoffs, blahblah, 0-5 almost making the playoffs in the rookie year, blablah.. then go for it. I rather stick to numbers because numbers don't lie.

I'd have to agree with that wholeheartedly. I thought you were Joking when you said best ever.

It's at this point where Plow is looking for a way to justify him even being arguable for the best ever. Then he sees barry sanders and herschel walker. Now begins a rehash of jerry rice vs deejay and Moss.

Because being amazing in college means he's amazing in the pros, just like you guys argue constantly right?! I totally said he's the best qb in the nfl when I was talking about how amazing he was in college, U GOT MEH I R TEH BUZTEDZ

Peyton has 1 super bowl, and had some QB records for passing. Vince will win at least 1 super bowl, and set some QB records for rushing.

Barry Sanders had 1 absolutely insanely mind boggling season in college. He backed up Thurman Thomas for 2 years, played one ridiculous year, and went pro. No titles.

Vince Young redshirted a year, then came in Tebow style his "freshman" year and pretty much took over a top 10 program halfway through the season.

His sophomore season, they OPENED UP the offense (lulz but dey had 2 dum it down cuz hez so stupid), switching from the I formation they'd run the last 132984651324975620 years to a 3 wide system allowing much wider play calling. He started every game, went 11-1, losing to an OU team a lot of people were calling the best college team ever, and stomped all over Michigan in the Rose Bowl.

His junior year, they went 13-0 including the national championship in which he accounted for FOUR HUNDRED AND SIXTY SEVEN YARDS, finished the season with over 3,000 passing and 1000 rushing yards.

I personally watched a ton of his college career, and he was an absolute freak. I can't even explain what it was like to watch, there was no possible way to stop him.

Another guy, who knows a thing or two about football, and saw him play in person, had this to say about it:

"Vince Young is the greatest quarterback to ever play college football."

That was Ronnie Lott, a USC grad.

Pete Carrol: "That was the best I've seen by one guy."

You guys can talk all the shit you want about pros, try to talk shit about a 30-2 QB that singlehandedly dominated one of the best teams ever for the national championship in college, and you can't possibly help but to look stupid.

College = nfl when I make a comment about college, because then they can say "ZOMG U SAID HE WAS GREAT IN COLLEGE THAT MEANS HE WAS THE BEST EVER PRO."

College =/= nfl when they want to argue about how his being absolutely insane in college provides no implications whatsoever that he has any form of potential at all in the nfl.

30-2, probably not even the 5th best record for a college QB. You know what, fuck it. You said VY was the best college player ever, then you go and quote pete carrols comment out of context (he was talking about ONE FUCKING GAME). You sir, are the pinnacle of fanboyism.

And it's a lot easier for Ronnie Lott and Pete Carroll to comment on someone's performance after they roll all over your own alma mater/team.

It's sort of like.. getting beaten by the eventual national champion. You always look at it that way. "Well, at least we lost to the eventual champion." It's a lot easier to compliment them after a performance like that.

You're right, his winning percentage is 6th best ever, and one of those losses was his freshman year in a bowl game in which he only played about half the game.

Everything negative you can say about Vince Young in the pros is absolutely shot down when you take the discussion to college.

Already mentioned the system change to make the offense more complex which you tried to bullshit about incorrectly before.

Career completion rate is highest ever at Texas.

Senior year he had the highest qb rating in the country through the regular season, 3rd after big 12 championship and nat'l championship. Your precious TD-INT ratio: 26-10.

If Barry Sanders' 1 non-title season qualifies him as the best (and I fucking love Barry Sanders I've lived my whole life in his hometown and was born an hour from OSU), then what Vince did in his final season more than qualifies him for mention right alongside him.

Stop being a fucking douche, pull your head out of your ass, and stop trying to shit on anything that's not your own originally stated opinion.

Just because you didn't watch a minute of him outside that one game doesn't mean he was scrubbin it up the entire rest of his career.

And you're right, it is pretty easy to compliment a guy when he literally outperforms the last 2 heisman winners together head to head.

If you want to say top 10, I'll buy into it. Top 5, I doubt it, but maybe you can justify your point. I didn't say he was bad, but the best. You need to pull your head out of your ass. And sanders played for OK state, not Texas. Texas is a perennial powerhouse. He took them to a bowl game, not much more you can ask for with oklahoma state. Outside of barry, you still have several others. Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker, Jim Thorpe, Tony Dorsett, Roger Staubach, someone else can continue.

Sanders season while playing backup was still amazing. Averaged over 5.5 yards a carry and was on pace for another 2000+ yard rushing season if he was allotted more carries.

UGH. Why must we continue? Who's calling people names now? Weren't you on my case about me calling you names?

Barry Sanders was great in college, but there were a lot of college athletes that were great. Now don't read too much into that. I don't mean that there were a lot of college athletes that were completely on par with Barry Sanders, but I'm just saying that it's easier to find great college athletes against finding truly great NFL athletes. I'd mention Bo Jackson, but I'd probably get reamed by you and called a SEC fanboy again or someshit. Reggie Bush was a great college athlete. Archie Griffin was a great college athlete. But other than Barry Sanders, Bo Jackson didn't have a great NFL career at all. Reggie Bush has been a bust during the two years since he was drafted. Archie Griffin ran for only 2,800 yards in his seven year career.

My point is; being great in college doesn't mean you'll come into NFL with all of that talent and be a great player. I like to think three years is good enough time for a player to flesh out in the NFL and see how good they could be, see moments of brilliance. In two years, I just haven't seen it out of VY. I'm not trying to say "Omg, bust." I mean... he's better than their alternative.

Oh wow, respectful conversation, thank you.

Jackson actually was pretty amazing in the NFL considering he was only playing part time while focusing on baseball, and was behind Marcus Allen. He had a 200+ yard game in like his 2nd or 3rd game ever. I was a huuuuge fan.

Bush, meh, he's definitely had the flashes of brilliance, but personally I never understood how they thought his skills would translate well to the NFL. Being such a freak though, he's bound to have a very respectable career when all is said and done.

Now for VY's moments of brilliance:
Week 16 rookie year, Titans and Bills both 7-7 fighting for playoff spot. Bills up 9 at end of 3rd. Young runs 2 drives totaling 23 plays and 11 and a half minutes to score a touchdown and a field goal. 13-20 182 yards 2 td 0 int 61 rushing yards 1 rushing td. This against a bills team that was completely carried into range of the playoffs by their defense. 30-29 win against a terrible offense and great defense with a 125+ passer rating.

A few weeks before that, comeback from 14 down against the 10-1 Colts.

A few weeks before that, 2 passing touchdowns and a 30 yard rushing touchdown plus another drive for a field goal to come back from 21-0 and beat the Giants.

Already mentioned the game last year against the Jags, where he lost, but had to throw 41 times against an amazing defense and put up his highest yardage totals yet with respecable numbers all around.

The next week he threw for 305 yards and a td 2 int, and ran for another 74 yards and a td, but the broncos put up 34 and it wasn't really much of a game.

He tore up the chiefs and texans after that, and had a great game against the colts (which was actually mostly first string because it was early in the game) before re-injuring his hamstring in the 3rd and going out, then hobbling around and sucking it up in the wild card game.

Like I've been trying to say for pages, you guys are taking what I'm saying way too far. I'm not saying he's the best thing since sliced bread, it's just silly and quite honestly reeks of ignorance (i.e. titans are never on where people are and they don't have nfl sunday ticket so they just go purely off his fantasy stats) to be bashing him so heavily, saying he's a bust by making the playoffs his 2nd year, etc. etc.

My mother always taught me; what are the first three letters of assume? Yeah. You shouldn't assume. I know quite a few people with the NFL Sunday Ticket (me included), so uh.. D: Shouldn't say anything about that. All I've been saying is I think he needs to step it up, work on his mechanics, and learn his offense. I'm sure it'll be different than Chow's. And that's all I've got to say about the matter.

lol ok, so you guys get the games

does this mean you watch them? apparently not if you say things like "flashes of brilliance which I haven't seen from Vince Young" etc etc

This is what's going on right now

    http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...ila/283984.jpg

and this is what it's all leading up to

    http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...g_vince_td.jpg

I promise you, you guys are going to feel silly about all this in a few years. I've watched him since he was a redshirt freshman for one of my most hated enemy teams taking a naaaaaasty ankle injury and coming back anyway to carry his team to a win against my undefeated cats. Say what you will about his throwing motion (nobody questions his arm, we know he has a freaking rocket, just the motion is awkward) or his not being the brightest bulb in the box, whatever "it" is that makes people into not just champions, but legends, he has it. Call me a fanboy all you like, to me sports are all about your heart. This is why things happen like Eli getting his first title in the game of the century thus far faster than peyton did with arguably less of a team, Tiger performing better on his weakest day than the rest of the world is performing at their best (he's an amazing golfer, but what he did is just not physically possible, there's some point where his body left the picture and his strength of will took over) etc. etc.

I will always be proud to call myself a fanboy of people that play sports that way, it's what I dreamed of doing my entire youth. Call me anti-Favre all you like, I've cheered him on his entire career.

Edit: and no, before people try to jump all over it and change it around, I'm not saying Eli is better than Peyton. He's certainly more emotional, and that does mean a lot, but there's nobody in the world with Peyton's skill set and mind for the game and I'm well aware of this. Hell, it could be the massive heart and will of Michael Strahan reaching out from the sideline, all I know is that drive was 100% heart and will. I suppose a better example would have been Brady stomping all over Manning's Colts year after year.
