    . . .

Just a thought I had while reading:

Can't you enter in Nyzul at any level? I'm sure you can enter as long as the job is at least 50, but I seem to recall a friend entering at 43NIN or something to test it... but my memory's not clear.

    Anyone else have any idea?

Pretty certain 50 is the minimum level for Nyzul.

Definetly NOT true. I did Nyzul with my 62 RDM once. You can enter at 50+ you just cannot cap it at lower than 75

Seconded. We just did it last Monday with a level 64 RDM as the starting disc holder to get the last person in our static their first choice of Nyzul weapon (he already has a Runic Key).

Only one way to test: keep deleveling Inflames's THF in there.

While it is technically possible for "everyone" to get the 100F weapons, it's also technically possible for everyone to get sea torques. It's also technically possible for everyone to get a Duelist's Chapeau. Does everyone? No. And people don't even have to decide between a sky or Dynamis, or a sea or Limbus ultimatum. If it's technically possible for everyone to get, and not literally possible, it's irrelevant to even specify "everyone" because as I said, it's technically possible for everyone to do/get anything.
Sorry, but no. You will need the base weapon to obtain the associated WS. There's little-to-no supposing about it. SE have all but outright explicitly stated this in an official announcement.

Note the line which is written in bright, look-at-me-I'm-important red:

These weapon skills will also be obtainable by players not in possession of finished mythic weapons via completion of weapon skill quests, also new to the upcoming version update.

The difference between your example of a Dynamis item and this Nyzul item is simply a matter of time and convenience. Dynamis is an event involving a large group of people with rigid time-openings that takes several hours. Nyzul is something you can take 5 mediocre-geared 75s into for an hour or two whenever you feel like. This is what seperates Nyzul from most other endgame activities (and what makes it, according to SE, accessible to 'all players'). It may even take a few years to make your progress all the way up to your Mythic Weapon, but a casual player can do this without being tied to rigid, large-member group events.

    /snigger.. Rigid large members.

That line means exactly what it says, that you don't need the finished weapon to gain the WS. Anything further is inference on your part and not the fact you'd like to present.

Carry on being condescending for no good reason.

Edit: Also I didn't say what I thought would be required for gaining the WS, just that you're investing that quote with meaning that does not exist.

Right, you just think anyone who doesn't agree with you is engaging in wishful thinking.

I'm saying there is currently no specific reason whatsover to think that players will not need the base weapon.

Whereas SE's official announcement, specific statements from persons present at the Site Summit and... like, y'know, the way the weaponskills revolve ENTIRELY around these weapons all suggest rather clearly that players will need their base weapon.

It has bugger all to do with agreeing with me and everything to do with simply looking at the situation within context.

EDIT: hopefully this chat we're having still lies within the realm of discussion and isn't erring towards petty internet ping-pongery.

Really, the ONLY thing that line tells us is that you won't need a finished weapon to obtain the Weapon Skill. It says nothing--absolutely nothing--about requiring the initial weapon.

To assume otherwise is just inference, and while it is your opinion, there's nothing in the above line or associated paragraph that lends any sort of fact to your inference.

If you feel strongly toward the likelihood that the Weapon Skill will be obtained through the initial Nyzul weapon, then that's fine. Just say so, and we'll disagree. But don't try to present your opinion as fact with evidence that simply isn't there. The importance of Nyzul weapons in obtaining the Weapon Skill is anything but certain.

And what Deftscythe(and, incidentally, myself), are saying is that there's no specific reason whatsoever to think that the players will need the base weapon.

True, the summit showcased the Weapon Skills with the Mythic Weapons, and if that's all we had to go on, you might be right.

But there's that teaser video we got prior to WotG's release, the one showcasing varying jobs using the JSWS, without the accompanying Mythic Weapons(I recall most vividly the RDM performing Death Blossom with a Joyeuse). Fast forward to the "Myriad Arms of Balrahn, cont'd(in the link you so generally provided), details that the JSWS quest will be tailored for availability to ALL players:

If indeed your theory is correct, then the exclusivity of Nyzul weapon drops will limit the JSWS to those who repeatedly do Nyzul Isle, not the multitudes of others.

So, looking at the situation in context as you suggested, there is simply more evidence supporting the idea the base weapons' obsolescence, than there is supporting their use.

I wasn't aware you were trying to keep it a discussion with how you consistently insulted those who don't share your opinion.

My point is not that you're wrong, I won't know if you are or not until the update, and neither will you. Therein lies my point, which is that your prognostication about what SE will do is not more valid than anyone else's simply because you say it is.

SE specifying the state of the weapon says nothing about how the weapon is associated with these new quests? Come on people. There's keeping your hopes up and being open-minded and then there's just kidding yourself.

If it bothers your senses of explicitly-explained-black-and-white-information-only, then let me humbly inform you that in my opinion that I happen to believe you might be kidding yourself.

But! That you may be right and that SE may have mentioned Mythic Weapons not being required in their finished state but ALSO meant that the weapons won't be required in their base state either. And that the attendees at the Premiere Site Summit were incorrectly informed by SE employees that base weapons will be required. And that these new weaponskills are not actually linked thematically and story-wise to the Mythiuc Weapons.

You might be right. After all, the SE announcement only specifies 'Finished'.

Just don't rupture your spleens in disappointment after the update if it happens you're wrong.

Again, I've never said what I believe will be required for the WS quests. That said, could you quote the SE employee who said the base weapon was required?

Also, nothing you've said in this thread was presented in what I'd call a humble manner.

Work-filters prevent me from accessing most sites, but here's one thread wherein Gahoo of FFXIclopedia explicitly states that it's his understanding from talking to the Site Summit reps that the base weapons will be required:

    http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/2008_-_(07/29/2008

And I consistently insulted people? Blimey. Sensitive much? I was highlighting the tissue-paper foundation upon which people's hopes were resting. Please go back and read the first post I made and note the terms 'little-to-no' and 'all but outright'. Both accept the lack of certainty. Yes, I acknowledge that nothing is yet absolutely, completely, written in stone, 100% but -- that to all intense porpoises -- I personally am quite happy to take it for based on, like.. things n stuff.

I can only guess that you were/are inaccurately attributing to some sort of irritating, know-it-all, arrogant tone of voice to a piece of written text that was merely expressing a strongly-held and evidentially-supported opinion. And then getting all knicker-twisted over it. On BG no less. Damn, on the internet no less.

Point is: I didn't insult anyone, you shrivel-dicked fuckflap.

(That last sentence was intended as a joke, by the by. I don't really think of you as a shrivel-dicked fuckflap. <3)
