A BST with the right gear and setup can actually parse pretty damn good. I admit I PT'd up with my BST using a Harvester Scythe but I had a Peacock Charm with 8/8 Scythe merits backing it up. Damage wise I did ok as a DD seeing as I ate meat all the time.

It's fun to exp in a pt sometimes as a BST but most of the time I preferred to exp alone.

I started leveling Warrior because my old Rdm static invited me to be the 6th in a lvl 40ish party out at Revelation Rock on Bst.

Had a Taru War/Thf raping face with SA Sturmwind, and I thought "holy fucking god that looks fun", asked him and he confirmed, yes indeed, it is very fun... been a Warrior ever since.

BST in a party doesn't really tend to fall off until endgame, and even then it's not so far behind that it can't be respectable.

That's what I thought, til I did a Raging Axe, my Antican jug did a mandible bite or whatever it is, and then the taru War/Thf did a double attack crit for almost twice as much total damage....

War/Drg is dopey fun, 2hr warrior's charge jumps are superdopey fun.

War/Thf with Mbhuj is so much different than without, 200% SA steels are so sweet.

lol.... If you're using mbhuj and subbing thf. Something is going horribly wrong. Unless it's for Sky gods. Then nvm. Merit is either WAR/SAM or WAR/NIN Qq

Sea/Sky farming gets boring sometimes, I like to change up sub jobs, Sky farming, Sky gods, Limbus.

/Sam only in merits, I like to have at least a little fun while I'm meriting, but we're derailing so blah.

Heh, can certainly happen, but he was generally probably not attacking as much as you + your pet were. BST is a DoT job, it adds up.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I find there to be limits to BST DD, and completely understand its reputation and typical position in DD hierarchy. In the mid levels though, other jobs aren't quite as strong, and jug pets aren't comparably quite as weak as they can often be at merit level.
A well geared BST versus "meh"/AH geared DDs can often meet or beat them sans pet even in merit.

The bigger problem with BST is the mentality around it, and in turn, the average gear...
If you treat it like a who-cares-onry-solo job, then it'll perform like one. Though, a lot of us sort of gave up trying since even with pushing it doesn't peak as high.
