A majority of a Cops pay is in overtime. Most of the NYC cops that I used to work with made a ridiculous amount of money in overtime pay.
They worked 1-2 Days as Security guards when I worked in retail.

The main problem here is that the police officer lied in his arrest report, and claimed the biker rammed him, rather than the other way around.
It looks like the cyclist is trying to speed up and go around in a narrowing gap rather than stop and let the cops finish crossing the street.
Which you're not supposed to do anyway. I'm guessing the cop took it as a provocation, if mistakenly. I know I hate it when people do that to me.
And lying on the police report isn't going to help.
you guys are missing the point...
that's one hell of a hit
I've been hit by a repairman's van on a bike.
That was a hell of a hit.
The cop just pushed some guy down.
Oh, i just assumed they were referring to a different incident in that report. I guess the cop just misinterpreted, which is still a fuck up on his part.
Still, that cyclist was imprudent and presumptuous, what a prick.
cyclist has free reign to talk shit after being tackled off his bike for no reason by some lying dickbag cop. the cop is a fucking tool (pawn) and actually has a chance to lose his job, not like the cyclist was being too unreasonable in his shit talking.
The game, man, the game.
No cyclist should be accelerating and trying to weave between pedestrians. The guy was being a dick and a douchebag. 'DON'T DAZE ME BRO!'
Even I'd have punched the shit off his bike if he tried to dangerously whizz by as fast as he could inches from where I was walking. The shit had brakes. Cops need a better reason before swinging at a guy, perhaps, but I wouldn't. And that's far from 'no reason.'
uh, did you watch the same video? As he was going by, the cop made a beeline straight for him, which he tried to avoid by moving out of the way. cop had his gaze focused on the guy all the way incoming, he wasn't looking to cross the street. The officer accelerated toward him as he was veering out of the way.
also, the cyclist that got tackled wasn't the first to swerve out of the way as the cop started walking toward him. again, watch the video.
stop being an authoritarian cunt because you don't like protesting; cop was a flat out dick and in the wrong.
Every other cyclist that passes the cops in the video gives them at least a yard of two and most of them aren't accelerating as they pass. The guy who gets taken out is pedaling hard and gives him inches.
It's not that I don't like protesting, I just don't like this particular protest and how their message is more about 'fuck right of way I'm going to be as aggressive as I can on my bike' than 'share the road,' which most bicyclists would be happy to live with.
This right here tells me the cop had some other reason to stop the guy. Yeah he pushed him, but it could have been something further up the road that the cop saw that we didn't; could also be something the dude was carrying looked illegal, since he did have a backpack, a satchel, and something in one of his hands as he was riding, which few of the other riders were that encumbered. Or it could be the cop just didn't like the look the kid gave him, idk.
Not saying it was justified, I really don't know either way. But it wasn't spontaneous, the cop had some motivation for it. If he was just pissed off and wanted to be a dick he could have stuck his arm out in front of any of the other riders nearby, but he picked this one a long ways off.
Either way I don't feel sorry for the cyclist, these critical mass fucktards are ghastly hypocritical if they're trying to make a point about the road belonging to the cyclists and the motorists, and then fucking up everything for the motorists just so they can be king of the mountain for 15 minutes. I think I might threaten to run them over if I were there in my car, just lurch in close enough to make somebody crap themselves.![]()
are you really that blind? Look at the guy who immediately preceded the guy who got tackled, then look at the guy who got tackled try to swerve pretty far out of the way (right up to the freakin' curb; you can see that he landed on the sidewalk) and the cop picking up his pace to meet the cyclist at a perpendicular. Come on. You can clearly see the cop make a dash toward the cyclist, and it obviously isn't a situation where he pushed as he was evading the bike.
What were saying is that the video doesn't show everything. Too many missing details.
