Sources said Pogan spotted Long weaving through traffic and riding with just one hand on the handlebars.
    no handlebars, no handlebars....

anyway, curious why the sources weren't named (or even described), and I'm also curious about how Pogan could've seen him weaving through traffic when it appears Long was in the middle of a cluster of fellow cyclists. This also debunks the idea that Pogan had gotten a specific report about something the guy did earlier, so supposedly the traffic infraction was something in eyeshot of Pogan, who was standing in the middle of the street as the bike cluster moved through.

Edit: and it was Lynch, the spokesman, who said Pogan yelled, not the same "Sources" who described Pogan spotting Long.

And still, there's no doubt about Pogan falsifying the incident report, and the reaction by the department indicates things aren't kosher. Will be fun to see in a few days if the charges against Long are dropped.

If the cop told the cyclist to stop and he didn't stop, he's committing a crime, right? If he is failing to yield to an officer, that officer has the right to detain him. Do you understand that?

You keep refering to instances that happen in the you tube video, THE VIDEO IS NOT THE ENTIRE INCIDENT. You A. Don't know shit about CM, B. Fail to comprehend that this situation is any longer than 45 seconds, C. Claim to know EVERYTHING thats going on, even though you don't have any information that anyone else doesn't.

Here are a few questions, I want you to directly answer:
    Were you there?
Do you know what happened before the video was taken?
Do you know what happened after the video was taken?
Do you have any information about this situation that didn't come from the smokinggun or youtube? (both obviously much more reputable sources than the NYP)

The 3 references you post in reference to the NYP being a tabloid are all kinda meh making it out to be a tabloid, its no BAT BOY is all I'm saying. And, as far as if there is any misinformation in any of those articles, I see the post: 1. Breaking a law, 2. Making a joke photo on the front page to get attention (god forbid), 3. A punny title to an article. Holy shit, look out for the NYP if they let such atrocious crimes against journalism as this happen!

I think the officer loses the benefit of the doubt when he lies in his affadavit / deposition.

and sadly, a photocopy of a police report and a youtube video are in themselves more credible than the NYP on a whole.

again if anything, tyche's article only further shows that the incident was in a short timeframe, within the vision-range of Pogan. Nothing firm yet on whether he yelled at the cyclist to stop or not. hq video (if available) would clear that up. I'm also curious about the other officer there, who didn't seem to yell or make any kind of gesture either.

What I'm now most curious about after getting home and re-reading the article is whether or not I'm reading this correctly...It's a crime to ride with one hand?

And I agree with Aurik, you can't really believe anything the cop says, or the lolUnion rep. That's why I tried to find a source that gave an account of the incident that wasn't from the police (I guess I had read the article in thinking the sources said he yelled at the biker). None-the-less, I still haven't seen a source give a non-bias account of what happened. I can tell just from the video that the cop motioned toward the biker and the biker didn't slow down. The question is whether or not anything was said.

really curious how you "can tell just from the video that the cop motioned toward the biker" when the only motion he makes is generally walking toward the side of the street. he doesn't signal the biker with his hands/arms or anything, they're kind of on his belt until he checks the biker. are you just referring to the cop walking towards the sidewalk?

That's what I mean by motion, he obviously had the biker picked out and was walking toward where his path was taking him. Point here being is that it isn't random. Well, unless he randomly didn't like the color of the guys helmet, but it wasn't random. So he had the guy pegged for a reason, and if he did commit a crime, and didn't yell, the officer improperly checked down his use of force.

also it's looking like resisting arrest is either violation-level or misdemeanor in NY, and misdemeanors don't usually entail overnight jailtime, right? Might be wrong though.

assault/assaulting an officer is a felony, I believe. that's why this is rather serious, and the fact he was protesting makes a speech issue, so more sryrus.

Ha ha! Wiki labels the Post a tabloid.

Actually, "Tabloid" is a formatting term.

Good advice. I think it's obvious now he just has some personal agenda in his head, and he'll spin like a top to defend it.

ummm, the mistakes I posted were a small sampling of the Post's silliness. The tabloid label wiki gave just struck me as funny (in a coincidental way regarding the names of size formats), considering the Post's extremely low credibility rating and sensationalist covers and headlines. It's not the Enquirer, but about the closest to it of any major news publication.

If you want to manufacture some sort of personal agenda on my end to make yourself feel better then ok, but truth is I don't have any grudges or general dislikes of you, Kuya, Correction, or Tyche. I just think grasping for justification of oppression/abuse of authority is absurd (it can be a really damaging way of dealing with bullshit in the long run) and don't mind arguing fervently against it. Frankly, the personal attacks come off as a bad reaction to my argument which forces you to disassociate your opinion of the protester with exactly how he was punished, which on some level you view as deserved because of your dislike for him/his protest (or possibly just an unwillingness to believe that the authority in your life could be wrong, but that's stretching).

Obviously had never read a New York Post article in his life since he thought it was all supermarket tabloid journalism. Now he's the /BG/ leading expert. Wikipedia, from IQ 15 to 115 in 100 seconds. Can I post all the silly brash headlines from around all the other national papers?

Wow, first defending a cop who falsified a report, now defending the Post, known for its sensational tendencies and bias, as a quality publication. What other forms of shitty "professional" conduct would you like to justify while we're at it?

    really, man, really.
