I use Goliard since I focus on Conserve MP for spells I don't really need stats for (Refresh, Haste, etc). I was using Tabard before I got Goliard though, so either is ok imo.

There was a thread about this awhile back, I'll see if I can find it.

    Edit: http://bluegartr.com/forum/showthrea...hlight=goliard

To OP: Personally I like Conserve MP alot and think that it's better than Refresh+1 if you're going to be casting alot. I don't watch mine constantly, but usually when I do and notice it kicking in its fairly noticable. When I was watching it yesterday while casting Refresh, it cut the cost by ~50% which just about covers the amount Refresh+1 would have gave me.

I've been trying to test this myself, unfortunantly my Nyzul static broke before I got my Goliard Body, and I still don't have my Seveneyes for casting non cures, but with that you would be up to +24 CMP, and I'd like to see the results with that.

And if Conserve MP gear doesn't increase proc rate, I kinda wonder how I get procs with Seveneyes as RDM/WHM.
yeah, I was going fast and near the end I just kind of stopped paying close attention to the numbers XD. pretend I said '9mp/tick' (refresh + ballad + sanction + gear + sj or something) lol

rdm/whm is a good way to prove it increases procs yeah. (it does; I don't know why cw used to hold that it doesn't *shrugs*)

Figured as much eheh. I macro in my full Yigit for refresh (and to rest in if needed) whenever I am not casting a nuke. Normally cure in my Yigit as well.

Swapping gear is the correct answer. BMN is your friend, even if you don't have windower nobody is going to care about a blink spamming SCH.

it's not a bad stat, it's just definitely not a priority stat.

I've got three pieces of Cobra + Fourth Mace macroed in my Haste and Refresh macros, since I also use them for a 1:1 Convert ratio. It definitely does take the edge off, and every bit of MP I can save cycling through buffs is good by me. I'm tempted to get the head piece as an RDM now, too.

If I had Verm. Cloak, it'd be a different matter entirely (idle MP recovery for me = Yigit set). But not like I'd feel bad, since hands/legs/feet/weapon don't get in the way of wearing the cloak.

If you can give me an idea of what I'd need to do, I can test it for you with what I have (+20 CMP from gear). I'd mainly need to know what spell(s) you'd prefer me to cast. Then I can cast with both Whm and Blm subs and post the results.

Easiest test I know for Conserve MP is Warp with your Mog House set as the home point.

Warp is 100 MP, which makes it easy to tell when and how much Conserve MP burns, and you just step inside when low on MP.

zoning every warp eats up time. pick something with 16mp that's fast to cast.

blindna and icespikes both work well. (16mp, 3 second cast, 10 second recast) using back to back you can cast a spell every 5 seconds, and you'll have 2 seconds to scribble before you start the next one.

edit: and a typical mage will get about 50-60 casts per mp pool. try to do this without auto-refresh btw.

A low mp spell might not be best to test all 1/16 to 8/16 procs. I would suggest doing a spell like the Reraise line in front of a Nomad Moogle. Cast, swap SJ, repeat.

WHM/BLM good choice for this. I lack Seveneyes and the upper two Cobra pieces, but have Saio/Mace/Cobra Cloche/Hands. I should give it a go sometime myself.

I believe the point in using a 16 MP spell is that you can see exact fractions of the 16 as you cast while retaining MP and a short recast timer. I just did this on BLM for a few minutes and saw fractions of 16 including 2/16, 4/16, 5/16, 7/16, and 8/16. It works pretty well, and you could also still do this in front of a Nomad Moogle for easy MP.

16 (and multiples of) are better than 100-150-200 etc because they fit the buckets exactly *and* are really cheap.

    16 is perfect: 1/16 savings = 1mp, 2/16 = 2mp, etc.

the two spells I suggested are also fast casting and fast recasting so you can do lots of reps fairly quickly without pausing to refill mp or wait for timers beyond the time it would take to scribble.

I'll do the 16mp idea then. And no auto-refresh was a given =p

I do the test as Rdm/Whm then Rdm/Sch. I'll post spell by spell results when finished. It'll most likely be 5 MP pools for each sub for now. Can do more later if needed.

Just did the test. I only did 4 mp pools for each since it took longer than I expected to go through it all and write everything down. I can do more MP pools during the week if needed since I'd rather use my day off to exp =p

Anyways, here are the number results for now. I'll go through them all and do a detailed breakdown later.

    Conserve MP Results

    Conserve MP Gear used:
    Seveneyes +7
    Goliard Saio +5
    Cobra Cuffs +3
    Cobra Trews +2
    Cobra Cackrows +3

For Rdm/Whm, spells cast were Blindna & Ice Spikes.
For Rdm/Blm, only Ice Spikes was used. I also tried to keep te MP pool as close to Rdm/Whm as I could, so I removed some equipment without Conserve MP.

The odd numbered rows (1 and 3) were after exiting the Mog House.
The even numbered rows (2 and 4) were after using the first MP pool then using Convert.

    I think you mean columns.

Am I missing something here? Why not just use Scholar's Mortarboard for 3mp/tic sublimation and Goliard Saio?

I believe most people prefer to get the extra MP/tic from V. Cloak or I. Cloak so they're not losing 1 HP for it (and in the case of I. Cloak, the Sublimation cost drops to 1 HP/tic).

Refresh from a cloak (vermy, Ixion) will always beat out the Mortarboard for more MP over time. (The exception to this is if you already have full MP, and are just trying to build up a reserve charge faster)

Even if you are 100% on the ball, using sublimation exactly when its ready/timers are up, you are still missing out on 30 seconds of that extra 1mp a tick every couple of minutes when you go from using a charge > waiting to start a new charge.

    @Tomiko Thanks for those tests!

    Yeah, those things. =p

I went through and marked all the times Conserve MP proc'd. Just by looking at it, the amount of Conserve MP you have affects how often it procs. I'll go through it later and add up how much MP was saved per MP Bar and such.

    Conserve MP Procs
