How do i shot Adamantoise?

I've heard that no one camps Adamantoise so I was hoping on duoing him til my egg drops. Any advice? I'm a 75 MNK and BRD. Other toon is RDM.

Any tips on camping? I've heard MNK can safely duo as MNK/NIN. What gear choices? Evasion build? DD? Strats? Is MNK DD enough to solo with RDM support?

Should I be expecting a lot of campers?

Any experience with the drop rate?

I finally got my BB a little while back. Killed the NQ turtle about 10 times w/o the egg ever dropping. Ending up buying all the items. The droprate blows, so don't say nobody warned you.

On the low # days you won't have much competition, mostly other people who want an egg, and a few people from other HNMLSes there mostly for ToD. Once the HQ turtle can pop people will head there after Fafnir and/or KB.

I've duoed and trioed it as NIN/DNC several times. A few things...

Get Signet as it makes the other mobs there signficantly weaker (completely hoses their accuracy and cuts per hit damage they inflict by about half).

A BRD is very helpful as the Perytons there are immune to Sleep only Lullaby works. You could also have a RDM friend (/NIN possibly) to kill adds while you tank the turtle.

You should try to have someone come who can kill the adds for you. As you're about 99% sure to get at least one while you kill the turtle. Sleeping 3 mobs and hoping nobody Dia's one for lulz isn't fun.

As far as actually killing it goes. It's rather easy. I used a mix of offensive/defensive gear. If you have a Boxer's Mantle and Evasion torque bring them along and switch them in/out with. Other than that, go all out-DD on it. You'll have to tweak gear as you go and depending on how much other Haste you have, if shadows are lasting long enough, etc.

It has low evasion for any reasonably equipped 75 DD, so eat meat because it has very high defense.

Also, be aware it has Draw-In and is kind of fucking obnoxious about using it. So when you pull it I wouldn't engage until you walk it (it moves slowly and spams Draw-In if you get too far away) to where you'll fight it. Don't engage so you can see your compass and know the direction you're headed as it can be disorienting.

Anyone have any other testimonials about duoing it? Unfortunately I don't have access to a 75 NIN, so I'm not sure how a MNK would fare tanking it.

I also read that there's a rage timer, and being a duo with MNK being the only DD, I'm not sure I can kill it quick enough. Does anyone have any idea what his rage timer is? Would a single MNK have any problem killing it before it rages?

Duoing can be difficult with adds, especially if you have to actually actively attempt to claim it. High risk for adds on claim.

MNK would be fine against it. Higher base DMG on H2H compared to Katanas, Hundred Fists, and Howling/Asuran for WS (Howling would probably be better) and you'll kill it a lot faster than I did as NIN/DNC.

It rages in 60 minutes. Being almost the sole source of damage on it (and holding TP for self-cures) we killed it in 25-35mins.

It's a really easy fight, the only real difficulty is in dealing and not getting overwhelmed by a bunch of relatively wimpy adds.

Monk can kill it easy I think, problem would come to manage adds (rdm can't sleep perytjon, so you have to bind solo kite them while the mnk kill adamantoise).
The only time I did it low man was with : Blm rdm + thf, thf tank adamntoise while the rdm and myself were taking care of adds (good solution is too bind/sleep raptor then log off to clear hate, but they'll repop soon after).
I add some trouble getting my egg too (waited like 6 month since I had my beard, killed like 8 adamantoise no drop). So my ls decide to do a LS run for turtle KSNM to get our ls mnk BB (most where 2/3 only missing egg). Not only it was fun but I manage to get egg and strider on my orb. But really was a fun fight to do ^^ If you're only missing that and have enough KS to do Wyrm + Turtle you should really do that cause it's worth it I think. Also we got 2 other Black belt in the same day.

If you dont have enough KS then buying it from a LS that kill regulary Aspid is a good choice, cause waiting on adamantoise to drop it can be really frustrating (I know people are are 0/25 on adamantoise).

I've duo'd Adamantoise as Mnk/Nin with a Rdm/Nin buddy, it's really not too difficult. Throw on SH and a couple eva pieces if your shadows are getting knocked down too fast, but with Haste spell, a typical Mnk's gear haste, and Counterstance it shouldn't be much of a problem. My Mnk's actually rather gimp compared to most, and the only damage I took during that fight was from Aqua Breath (ignores shadows), and that topped out at about 400 each w/0 resistance. I wouldn't dare solo'ing it without meds, because of that; but with a mage to occasionally heal you, you're fine.

Also, egg drop isn't so bad if you can sneak in TH3/4 before the kill. I had my Rdm pal dualbox a Thf70 in for our last two kills (of 5), and got egg drop on the last one. 1/5 on NQs ftw.

I soloed Adamantoise from 46% once on MNK/NIN. Had a level 65 Soothing Healer NPC and used Hundred Fists. So I'm sure you could duo it with a RDM. I just used my normal xp party gear.

Everyone Above mentions very good points, in that you can pretty much do it with a healer & yourself on MNK. I would like to add not to get disappointed with the drop rate. I've had friends go 1/12 and friends go 1/1. It can be pretty abysmal sometimes, so don't let it get you down.

He is a piece of cake. I 5 manned it one time with me being the only person doing anything with it. The other 4 people were trying to keep all the raptors and perytons off me the other LSs were pulling on top of me. It can easily be duo'ed if you can avoid the adds or deal with them fairly easily.

IMO You'll get it faster farming KS and using them on turtle BC, if you can get the BLMs for it that is.

I also don't have access to a crapload of BLMs, hence the duo.

The trouble with Behemoth is claiming him. I believe MNK can solo it as long as you can get the claim.

One time my LS party of ~6 beat on behemoth bare-fisted for a good 10 minutes... and no, no one was on monk. I think we shaved off a pretty good % of his hp too lol, he's just really really easy if he's not spamming TP all over. Even then his TP moves aren't too bad.

Unless my Mnk DoT is way, waaaay better than I thought, there's no way this thing has a 20 minute rage timer. Wiki lists it as 60 minutes as well.

Behemoth's pretty easy too, he rarely touches me on either Nin or Mnk. Only real "trouble" is his AoE stun TP move, so, like Adamantoise, bringing a healer along just in case is recommended. These fights are retardedly easy given their reputations. NQs, at least.

I've solo/duo'd Ada and Behe NP.

ATM, I'm leveling MNK and I decided to get my gear before I finish it.. so I got ToD for Turtle and since it was during event times, and it was Day 1.. I went to check on it about 30 mins AFTER his full window had been closed.. and he was just up unclaimed, I got a RDM and a buddy on THF to come out and me as NIN/WAR and while the THF killed Adds and the RDM cured us both, we ended up killing Ada in about 14 mins.. my NIN is one of those throw back full haste spam WS ones.. so I was just spamming Jin on it.. the RDM DoT'd it and would do DiaIII. Ended up going 1/1 on Egg for myself and got it off a D1 Turtle. 2 other friends of mine also needed the egg so helped them out camping, we got from D2 > D4 when HQ popped, needless to say we got a 2nd egg. Never really had problems with Ada as his acc can be offset by evasion/counter.

as far as Behe go.. I like to camp it, seeing how I still need Tongue after dropping the one I had for 2 years lol.. this current camping i'm 0/12 on tongue.. have solo'd as NIN/DNC and NIN/WAR 4 times, and have duo'd it 8 times.. Shortess time was 9 Min Duo.. longest was 33 Mins NIN/DNC since he would cockblock me with Stun > Stun -_-;
