doesn't really seem to bear any resemblance, I'm pretty sure it's a loosely based black-knight dark-knight joke about how he's able to move way differently than what should be expected (flying comes to mind)

No, it doesn't. But before I started looking at the board layouts, that's what I assumed the joke was. Then I read it, and found it less funny than if it had been the more predictible reference.

if you look at the order of moves, it isn't that hard to get.

i haven't seen the movie, so i don't even know what the scene is about.

the reason i found it funny is because all of the pics i've seen have chat boxes. i laughed more at the fact they didnt use words to get the message across, rather than the actual moves
