They said they are continuing to look into it, and they don't want to elaborate more on what happened in case it endangers the investigation.

Sounds like victim was killed really quickly; sad to say but everyone just getting off the bus was probably the best course of action to prevent anyone else getting hurt. Really really gruesome.

might as well point out that canada has a high rate of gun ownership as well, but tend to fit the curve for ownership:crime/gun death shared by just about every other nation (whereas we stick out like a sore thumb).

again, the bus passengers handled themselves very well and the bus driver and trucker who pulled over were very smart about handling it.

See, this is why I couldn't be a cop. If I ever showed up to the scene of a crime like this and the suspect was still around (or if I saw the suspect at a later date) I'd probably empty a clip into him, even if he disarmed himself and came out with his hands up. Then I'd reload and do it again.

You'd make a good cop, then, because that's what you're supposed to do. Well, the reloading is optional, but you're supposed to empty your clip even if the guy is clearly dead on the ground well before you finish the clip. Ideally, there should be three cops emptying their clips at once, then reloading.
