    Hornetneedle Offhand

Ok a few people have told me (not stupid people nonetheless) that Main handing a high dmg/ slightly high delay dagger and offhanding Hornetneedle would allow for slightly faster TP gain. Someone else on the other hand states its counter productive and that dual wielding two high damage / slightly high delay daggers would be more beneficial. Im not a THF im a BRD so I might work out a little diffrent for me. My goal is to get to 100% TP ASAP to hit with Evics as much as possible.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I need a clear up ._.

If you're at the level where you can be using Evisceration, then a Hornetneedle is a bit meager in the base damage department.

Why not offhand a Joyeuse if you're going for TP gain?

The entire point of getting to WS faster is ruined if you're gimping your tp and ws damage (by offhanding a shitty weapon) to do it

I suck at melee damage calculation

A Jambiya or a Blau are going to be your best main hand weapons, Snatcher has kinda low DMG compared to those.

    heartsnatcher (HS) for mainhand
    joyeuse offhand

maybe blau mainhand if you can afford... otherwise HS would give you better numbers cuz of the crit% and not-so-low base damage

Heart Snatcher is NEVER the best option for anything. It is, however, pretty easy to get/unlock so if you're cheap go for it.
    Ideal: Blau/Joy, Cheap:Behe Knife+1x2 Cheapest: Behe knife/heart snatcher

Would Jambiya / Joytoy or Jamiya / Another dagger suffice insead of HS? The reason is that I dont want to get a HS yet because since SE announced that the Mythic WS would be questable this new WS for Bard might be better than Evisceration overall.

Or should I still just unlock Heart Snatcher for the sake of having it?

I wouldn't bother with Heart Snatcher at all; such an amount of effort is not worth it for such a feeble weapon. Just use some combination of Behe(+1)/Jambiya/Blau if you're going purely daggers, otherwise one of those mainhanded with a Joytoy offhanded.

    Heart Snatcher is repulsive.

What I dont get is why Blade: Jin, which is another Critical Hit WS, deals so much damage when the NIN uses a Senji mainhand and its 3 hit compared to Evisceration and its 5 hits. Many people have said that the 6% Increase from HS makes Evisceration alot more powerful.

I have rdm leveled, and there's 2 occasions when I use hornetneedle. First being when one of my friends asked me to solo Sewer Syrup for them, I've done it about 20 times now. (Hornetneedle + Beestinger) + Enfire = broken as fuck on SS. The other time would be when I am helping break latents on weapons. Either main-hand this or off-hand it teamed with joytoy. Unless you have a kraken and club capped, you will never be able to keep up TP gain with any fairly geared melee job. To me this is just a toy, but its one of the more enjoyable ones, especially for rdm, and its pretty fun.
    Just my input.

Senji is a powerful weapon in its own right though, whereas HS is just a subpar dagger with a critical hit bonus; it may amplify your spike WSs a bit, but your DoT suffers and the majority of dagger's damage comes from DoT (Senji however is a good katana for DoT). I'm not a NIN though, so feel free to correct me <_<

As for Hornetneedle, I never bothered to use one on my THF and don't consider it useful at all. To me, low delay is not enough to justify using a weapon; it has to offer something coupled with the delay (Sirocco Kukri's wind effect etc).

Just get Joyeuse, it's easy. Just get a NIN friend to help you out. Duoing Charybdis with a competent NIN is simple.

Hornetneedle is the highest DPS dagger from 48 to 55. I think I offhanded it till I bought two darksteel kris+1 at 57. I loved having it on THF. Also, Sirocco Kukri is one of the highest DPS daggers. I'd offhand it regardless of it having wind effect or not. Only way I wouldn't is if I had a Mandau, in which I'd be spamming for X's.

    Do it.

Mercurial Kris is better damage per second for some fSTR values, and much better for TP gain, at least during that level range. I'm not advocating using it until 75.

    X's/Blau, Blau/Thief's Knife, P.harpe/blau, x's/shield, blau/shield, etc etc etc

I was under the impression that the +6%crit latent weapons only worked when that weapon is swung (aka not on WS when its used as offhand.)

Correct, only applies to that weapon.

I'm also a BRD, and only ever really pull out a weapon on the job in Campaign (if I need a job that can solo DD, I switch to BST).

If I wanted to have some fun in Campaign as BRD/NIN, which combination of my available weapons would be best, and which as main vs offhand? For BRD/NIN, I have a Swan Bilbo, an Assassin's Jambiya, a regular Jambiya, and a Dissector (locked atm but could be unlocked I guess).

I know a Joyeuse would be better than any of these, but camping Chary just for my BRD sounds like a horror story waiting to happen.

Thanks in advance for any advice, I appreciate it.
