Server Transfers - A Year Later

I've come really close to moving back to midgard a couple times (was my birth server; my ls moved to hades when it opened) but never quite got to the point where I didn't feel like I was ready to leave my friends in hades behind. the fact that someone over there has my name now was another reason I wasn't in a rush to do it lol

I'll probably end up quitting before moving at this point but I do like that the option is available for people who need to move to friends rather than away.

Personally I havent been too fond of them. I know from our linkshell, it kinda seems like 90% of the people who have server transfered have turned out to be horrible. We have gotten several good ones however but overall, I think the whole process has been dissapointing.

Although it kinda seems like average person coming from another server doesnt fit too well into the Seraph mindframe.

I hate the server transfer thing. So many of my friends got hacked and transferred servers for 6-8 months before SE would do anything and get their accounts back. Server transfer only upped the RMT activity imo. Worst idea they have ever had for their players. Best idea they have ever had for their income. The amount of money they are making off server transfers is stupid.

My LS has had a lot of server transfer applicants. We only ever accepted 3 all of which went through a BG background check. First quit the game shortly after but was a nice guy and we had np with while in the LS. 2nd quit the LS. 3rd joined just recently and is working out fine so far.

There may be some good that comes out of it however imo the good in no way outweighs the bad.

You know that's not the only reason why you hate it.

We're currently at a 100% Failure rate on people who transfer , well it could be 66% but one of them has gone missing , haven't seen him in forever.

I personally can't say server transfering has brought much to Odin besides more Linkshells, more shouts and more head aches. As a leader of one of the older HNM LS on Odin it's become almost a monthly annoyance to see new LS come out of no where and magically claim Fafnir and it's pot luck if they're going to Win, Claim darters at 20% or just out right rage it. I think most of the established LS on Odin took a hit with members losing interest in end game as well after this. The more LS that showed up, the less overall claims, the quicker people tired out. I can't even tell you how many failed "NEW END GAME LINKSHELL" shouts I've seen that show up as nothing. Most LS on Odin have no success with server transfers as is. The ones that do background check find out hardly anything good has come across. Then we have the one LS that doesn't background check and just quickly fills up King camps with 25-30 people a day. And everyday it seems like someone we've never seen on Odin is in their LS.

It also seems like most ppl who transfer to Odin are gone after 3 months, but there's always someone coming over to replace them. I mean Odin was crowded before but there's sometimes when it's impossible to find a decent merit camp, do limbus, do dynamis. Hell I've seen over 150 people in Hazhalm at one given time before. Just so many people trying to do something. I think one thing SE could change is make the waiting time longer than 3 months. I think servers would see less flakes overall knowing that they don't have the luxury of jumping constantly.

in regards to hex, that may not be a bad idea, except heres a twist. make the time limit on hopping vary depending on the crowding situation of that server... obviously odin/baha/asura would have higher wait times than fairy/cerb/alex etc etc

personally though, i have seen quite a few people hop over to alex, and we have some pretty high quality people, but of course we got a few low quality ones too, thats how it is always going to be...

our first few cross servers were absolute fail, either couldnt play, couldnt stay, or loot whores who ditched for another shell because they felt they deserved more

we got some new ones though and theyve turned out amazing, weve been pretty successful and some of our most reliable and strongest new members are transfers. All in all Im still on a love/hate with it. We need the big purple dino to come back to feed the septimus though

The damage hasnt been too high i suppose so far. The main problem with the server transfers is that for some reason entire legions of shitty linkshells transfer to quetz with the intention of "taking over" when there are social linkshells that can play better than they can. It would be a bigger problem if it wasnt for the fact that said linkshells get outclassed upon entry and discover that there are no open range fafnir just waiting to hand out ridills by the dozen. Generally these linkshells are also swaming with bots too.

One year later and I'm seeing that server transfer hasn't caused the collapse of the game like some of it's naysayers soapbox'd.

In my current linkshell, we had 3-4 cross server applicants, including myself. Out of those, I am currently the only one remaining. I'd say we have something of a 60-70% failure rate when it comes to cross-server apps. After being burned by a certain few, we went to the point of actually closing them off entirely for a period of time. Right now we have a few that are holding up to that failure rate, but the one's I'd keep fit in well with the rest of the linkshell.

I personally will cross servers after i level up brd and drg. Not because of endgame drama lama or shit like that. More so since how i have only one other friend playing this game atm who would be willing to switch serves with me. We both have gotten tiered of seeing the same people. so we wouldn't mind changing just to get to know new people.


There are always shit heads who abuse any system in place. Then there are people who just want something a bit different.

anyways it's a plus. sept if a hole HNMLS decides to move servers and rape your endgame. then that sucks

So far having transferred my only complaint is not really knowing anyone, and that its highlighted with horrible accuracy the depth of which you depend on other people to play this game. I have yet to really make an active attempt to get back in endgame, mainly because most of what I've researched don't do things when I would be able to (Because I'd be asleep or at work).

Having said that, I'm not going back for a while. I can't afford it ; ; (also I'm still with the boyfriend, that would probably raise a couple 's)

Worst fucking idea ever. We used to have a fair balance of every ls claiming an average amount. One linkshell inparticular claiming slightly more then average. Now we got all kujata and alexander's trash claiming 98% of every ground king. Fuck you SE, Fuck you!

We've had one transfer from Shiva that is absolutely fantastic, great player, great member, really nice guy. The rest has been pretty garbage. Though to be fair we've also lost some of our garbage members, but they probably would have just quit the game with no transfer available since they couldn't get a LS here anymore, so I don't think it's really helped.
