It was more to test if I can pull off the (completely unnecessary lol) rain effect. I haven't played FFXI in... jesus, almost 2 and a half years now, and I made this maybe a year ago for shits and giggles. Densetsu isn't even a real person (well, I'm sure there's someone on at least one server with the name Densetsu <_< but this particular elvaan with Aegis and Hydra Haub is not one of them... if he is, that's just plain creepy).

Background was a touched-up in-game screenshot. Character was just taken from model viewer.

Thank you, and nope didn't use After Effects, I merged all the layers to one image, then added another layer for just the rain. I forgot exactly how I made the rain but it was something like render clouds > some kind of filter > motion blur > edit opacity. I made it kind of bigger than the canvas, so then I could put the whole thing into ImageReady and make an animated GIF by dragging the rain in the direction it was falling in every image.

I hope that makes sense; it's been a while since I've used Photoshop, and the fact that it's almost 3:30 AM doesn't help matters <_<
