    Desperately Seeking Cephs

    Seriously, fuck this assault.

4 times of fishing till the last minute and not getting the god damned orobon.

Fish -> kill nms till one of the NPCs get a positive message.

Fish -> kill nms till that NPC tells you where to fish.

Fish -> Kill nms till the Orobon pops.

Except the orobon never fucking pops.

    Fuck you SE.

I'm 2/2 on that one, you must be doing something really wrong.

You are welcome, I'm not the one who needs the win :3

P.S. Your battle flow is fine, either move a bit to the left or right when fishing the monster to kill faster so you dont run out of time. The fishing spot is not very sensitive but it matters.

This made me laugh more than it should have. As for the assault, I've never tried it so I can't offer any advice.

Last 2 times we got the "if you dont mind the qiqirns, then the spot just to my right is good".

We fished to his right (from very close to as far as that inlet would let) for 10 min and got shit.

Could he be talking about the little island right across from him with all the qiqirns? We didnt think so since we would have to go ALL the way around the map to get there.

I struggled with this the first time, but the second, what we did is split up, and had someone (or two people, depending on jobs) fishing next to each NPC. Popped on the brd on first cast. So, I suggest doing this, since it made this assault really easy.

The directions on otherwiki are vague and terrible. I have no idea what most of them mean as far as the references for where to fish are.

He probably did, I'm 3/3 on this and two of the times we got sent somewhere halfway across the map where he says it's good fishing (once only it was immediately to the NPC's left). He's literal with the description from what I've gathered. If there are supposed to be qiqirns near the Orobon then go where the qiqirns are. When you get the right spot the Orobon will show up in 1 or 2 fishings, if nothing shows up keep moving.

I don't remember if you can catch real fish, but if you can, you should avoid reeling in real fish, it's a waste of time.
2 teams of 3 players, once you reeled 1 monster per player, move to the next npc... and should be good.

We have done this maybe 5 or 6 times and won each time but I am not the fisherman so let me ask her when she logs on.

This Assault used to be insanely difficult, but they nerfed the Krakens at some point. They used to eat people alive.

This assault does suck. My static went 1/2 and we only won because we got damned lucky. We followed all directions and got nada the first run, then we got lucky and one of our groups caught the NM first cast.

Definitely do 2 groups of 3 though. Helps speed things up with at least the first section.

Defintily, the first time I did it the Kraken killed 2 people with 1k+ Tenticle > Maelstrom. Recently though it seems a bit easier, it just takes some getting used to where you should fish for the Orobon. Once you kind of understand the map, it's not too bad. When you get to the point of finding the Orobon finally, move around every 2-3 casts, usually if your lucky you'll nail it pretty quick. Fastest it's ever been fished was the 2nd cast, longest took me about 10 casts and almost timed out >_>. Just don't give up & move around a lot at the end into obscure places.

Oh, and don't do the Fairy Apkallu one if this Assault angers you...Fairy Apkallu are 100x worse... >_> *grumblesfuckingpenguins*

Went 1/1 last night, got really fucking lucky.

We fished up the primary mobs, 3 guys went to negative, found the 1 positive dude, expected to fish up/kill 3-4 more mobs then get told where to go and instead got the orobon.

    Was in there 11min.

I'd done this before for myself and it was hell, last week a good friend LS mate needed it and even though I swore I'd never do it again I broke down since he helped me get Captain. So I explained to them the strategy:

Fish up a few mobs, kill them, go talk to your npc which we assigned beforehand, and when we get a positive message to go fish there. Once his messages changes we move to a different npc etc.

So we enter, each check our assigned npc to double check none have the positive message right away and one person fishes. First cast/pull up was the Orobin NM lol. I couldn't believe it. We didn't even need to get the positive message, apparently it can be fished up before that if you're incredibly lucky.

Your best bet is when he tells you that, the spot is near the galka, as the spot is right in front of him.

But otherwise yeah the spot can be far away from any NPC.

First time I tried this, I got the message that they were to his right and we didn't want to go all the way to the island, fished for 15 minutes no dice(trio). Second time, it was the first cast as soon as a npc gave a positive response >_>
