I've had 2 people in my allience lot on the same item before, it was in sea so it wasn't the dynamis pool where you see peoples names next to the item.
Everyone but them passed, the item didn't fall, we had to wait for the 5 mins to be up.
I don't remember if the item went to the first lotter or last lotter, or if it was random, the sample size (of 1 occurrence) is too small to know what really happened.
Every time I've seen two people lot on the same item for the same amount, it's always gone to the person who cast lots first.
Also, I don't believe lotting a 0, 1, or 999 is actually possible in the treasure pool system. Back when it was common for everyone to lot currency and synth materials that dropped in dynamis, the highest lots we ever saw were 997 or 998 (I think there were some 998s). Since then, our previous sponsor and I have lotted every coin that has dropped in dynamis for the past year and a half, which is well over 15,000-18,000 (a low guess), and I've never once lotted 0, 1, or 999 because everyone always points out when I lot something over 990 or under 10, apparently it's funny 1-5 times per dynamis. <_<
I have no idea why those numbers aren't used in the lotting feature but are for /random, but whatever.![]()
I have a theory. If someone hasn't lotted an item, the game internally assigns a 1 lot, if someone passes, a 0 lot, and if someone QMs, it gives a 999 lot. Basically by using 3 values internally as reserved values, they can use code that relies less on conditional statements.
That's about the only plausible reason why I can see those 3 values not being allowed.
in dynamis myself and someone else lotted the same ammount on warrior hands, they went to me and i was the second lotter.
Regarding the whole 2 people lotting the same number on the same item thing, does anyone have an account of this happening at the same time?. Like both players hit the cast lot button at the exact same time. I've never actually tested it myself, but say if you were on vent with a friend and counted so that you both hit cast lot at the same time, I would be curious to see if it would produce the same number for both players. Obviously it might take a little practice before 2 people could get it right, but I think it's totally possible.
I'm almost certain I saw a 999 beat a 998 in Dynamis a while back. I'm under the impression 999 is only possible when there is already a 998 (probably to give everyone a chance)
Quatermaster could set the value to 1000-1024 anyway. The conditions would remain the same, and they don't need to allocate a bigger memory space for the number.
And to add more lotting flukes, here is a picture I took last month. The first 2 were on the same cell, but he passed and lotted on 2nd one.

That's some REALLY flukey shit.
As for the /wait 1.8 /random thing, a friend and I were doing that some yesterday to test it out, and I will say there is definitely something to it, though we couldn't always get high rolls, the times when we both rolled at about the same time (and the numbers popped up at just about exactly the same time) we were consistently within 50~100 of the others roll.
It was kind of weird seeing 658, 629... 992, 953... 123, 152 type rolls over and over.
Got my first 1 that way, and did 130 twice in 3 rolls, it did seem to give a lot more 900's than I ever get normally, so yeah... not foolproof, not super useful, but it's a neat trick.
Not that it adds anything to the thread, but here's my craziest moment ever with /random:

My fav thing to do in besieged is:
/shout Roll 995 or higher and win 5k (Can try as many times as you like)
I've seen someone lot a 999 before and someone i knew a long time ago said that he lotted a zero before. Was on a kindred's seal in sky while farming someone 998'd was missezjingles i think? Then kaida pulled a 999 was on sylph server. I SS'd it but it was on my old computer before it got fried so no longer have it but if anyone that used to farm in that really old sky ls would know what i'm talking about. Maybe misterjingles remembers it I think he posts here when hes not on wow ;o
When I get some time, I'm going to try to make a macro for rolling only double-digit numbers or zero, also if I can con somebody into rolling with me to see how far apart our rolls are. I'll probably post results here
