Auction draft is tough. It's not too bad if you do a ton of research and know what your doing going in. Going through it once definitely helped. If you're worried about a lack of preparation (or you can't make the draft time), I'd certainly consider switching leagues and doing the snake draft. Deejay and Tyven both are willing to trade.

You'd be easy to beat, I'd just force you to overpay for gates and tomlinson, you'd bite.

doubt I'd be early enough to make a decent bid on LT anyway, and who says I want an injured Gates?

You bid at anytime. THing about auction drafts, everyone has an equal chance at every player. Deejay and Tyven did the mock last night and loved the layout of the auction draft and now want to trade spots with people. I don't have a lot of faith in having all twelve of our people show up to the draft, if that happens, we'll probably have to swap those people with people from your league so they can autodraft on yours. Can't autodraft in auction.

I'm not really sure how well that would work since I believe West's draft is the same time as ours? The people swapped wouldn't have their autodraft orders setup or even be signed up for that league... seems like it'd work if West's draft was a day or two after but not if it's at the same time.

Yeah. I was completely bullshitting my way through last night just to get a hang of things. Can't wait. I've done a little work, but scrapped my notes, lol. If I make notes, I'll keep second guessing myself, so I'm gonna handle it on the night of the draft. I have another draft tonight anyway. Tyche, who should I draft first? I'm picking in the middle of the round.

This league isn't serious. Just with a few RL friends and some strangers.

If all the large backs are off the board, there's a huge talent dropoff at running back. No Gore, westbrook, jackson, addai, or peterson...I'd take Brady. I'd rather have Brady then worry about if Larry Johnson will be half decent or if Willis McGahee will keep his job. Take Brady in the middle to late first round and take a Thomas Jones or Graham in the second.

I'm betting on Michael Turner actually being a fairly decent pick this year (not first round or anything). He's stepping into a situation to be starting running back in what's basically gotta depend plenty on the run to help out Ryan. I suck at gambling though so don't take my word for it.

Anyone is welcome to joining the draft room tomorrow - we will be conducting it on Yahoo Messenger. If anyone wants the DraftDominator setup file, or our mock draft results from last night, IM or Yahoo me at moodgravy and I'll be more than happy to send it over.

Tyven, DeeJay, or Recuperi -- I haven't received word from any owners that they will be opting to switch leagues, but I know for sure Samsonight might miss the back end of the draft. If this is the case, would any of you like to pick up from where he leaves off? I still haven't gotten word if Sam wants to do this, but just putting it out there. This wouldn't be switching spots, you'd only be drafting for him.

Also, despite our drafts being almost at the same time, you can always autopick in a snake draft. You can also take about 10-15 minutes between picks, meaning you can go away for like 5-10 minutes at a time and still be really caught up.

eh, since I'm sure there won't be 3 people wanting to swap over, I suppose I could finish his spot for him. It'd be up to him though, I really wish I was there for the mock draft to see how it worked. Why couldn't you guys do that today instead of the only day I had night class?

    BGEasters:

I should be able to be home by 5:30pm PST (8:30 EST), quite possibly sooner. I'll get it all set up tonight and will figure out exactly how it works, should be ready to draft before I get on. I will make a post here when I leave work so you'll have about a 15 min warning.

I guess I'll swap... really don't want to leave the east league where I've been for 2 years, but fuck an auction.

Really man..? What's wrong with an auction draft =\ Trust me, it's so much fun. Those of you who attended yesterday's mock, chime in I say.

PS: I say this because I don't want Tyven to join.

Hm. So I'm pick 7 in my draft, and the #1 guy stated he wanted to take Brady first. So.. hrm. Do I take Portis if he's still there? Tough choice. I know he'll flourish in Jim Zorn's offense, but by how much? Dunno.

Thanks for the Offer Recuperi, but unless it is someone who was there last night or has alot of experience with auctions, I'd rather have my real life friend finish the draft for me. We do FFL with our rl friends each year and he and I discuss football constantly so he knows the style of team I like and which players I'm high on and which I dislike. He's never done an Auction but I explained how the mock went and what strategy I wanted to employ throughout the draft and I think he should be able to do a good job finishing up.

The big thing is can we make sure everyone is ready to go at 8:30 if not earlier? I know often times people say they are ready then some little thing pushes it all back 5 minutes, then another 5 minutes and so on, if we actually start as soon as byrd gets home I think I should be there for a good majority of the draft.

Why Portis? I'd probably take Addai or Lynch if they're still there, since the top 3 are probably already gone anyway. Jackson might be a good choice too assuming he stays healthy, but then he might even be gone by then too

And yeah I understand your reasoning there, I was just offering if there wasn't any other option for ya. That's why I was saying I wish they had the practice draft thing Monday or Today, since Tuesday was the only day I couldn't do the mock draft with em
