    Physics-defying: Cheap power from water

BlackLight's physics-defying promise: Cheap power from water

Pretty interesting article, some small company has supposedly found a very efficient way to alter hydrogen atoms which produces heat to create steam and turn a turbine. The article mentions they have serious funding from big names such as Michael Jordan and Shelby Brewer. Now I don't know anything about the physics behind it but there is a link to the process behind the product. I really hope they're successful in implementing it.

P.S. This guy's hands are massive.

The thing he's holding is big, too.

Imagine how big they'd look if the cameraman played with a wide-angle or fisheye lens to make them look even bigger.

First thing that stands out: Proposed dark matter candidates have GREATER mass than observed particles, and do NOT interact strongly with baryonic matter. Theories involving Dark Matter suggest that it does not interact with itself in such a way that would allow it to shed heat either, though Dark Matter involving Supersymmetric particles is COMPLETELY THEORETICAL and unproven at the current time.

Decreasing the energy in a hydrogen atoms electron wouldn't turn it into Dark Matter, and if it did, it wouldn't interact with the catalysts to produce energy as he is describing.

Now, to be fair, the vacuum is not at it's lowest energy state, I don't like his formulation of a GUT theory, but it is not entirely unlikely that he has stumbled upon some way to briefly violate the ground state of an electron.

It wouldn't be physics defying (hint: nothing is), but I'd like to know more about the catalyst which is causing this interaction, because frankly it scares the shit out of me when you start talking about violating ground states.

Just as an example: the vacuum is in a semi-stable non-zero energy state, if you were able to upset that balance, you could in theory trigger the same sort of phase change which was associated with primal symmetry breaking, dropping the vacuum to a true(r) ground state, liberating incredible amounts of energy, and altering the entire structure of the universe as the phase change propagated.

It is unlikely anything we know of could survive this sort of event, though I doubt that is actually what is going on... that term "reduced ground state" is still uncomfortable to hear.

Mills' theory, which he expounds upon in his self-published 2,000 page book, The Grand Unified Theory of Classical Quantum Mechanics, rests on what he describes as his discovery of the hydrino - an altered version of hydrogen that has an energy level lower than its ground state, or the baseline energy level. These modified atoms, he argues, are the stuff that comprises dark matter, the invisible material that many scientists believe composes more than 90% of the universe.
Okay, now I see why no other scientist takes this guy seriously.

Yeah, it sounds like there is something fishy going on which he is hiding with obscure doubletalk...

Does the talk of reduced ground states make you uncomfortable, Woozie?

The last time ground states for particles were adjusted, was when the Universe cooled enough for electrons to couple strongly to atomic nuclei, and space became "clear" to electromagnetic radiation.

If he's already tested this out, and it only takes one of said reactions to like destroyeverythingomg, wouldn't it be kinda pointless to worry about it now? Is it something that will only occur when he installs fifty of them into one location? Not sure I understand the threat if he's had it working, its using the same principles, and nothing has gone wrong~

Basically I'm saying, if it's doing what he claims, it's scary.

If it's been doing this, and nothing remotely bad has shown signs of happening, it isn't doing what he claims.

Right, that's what I figure. Either it is, and we're safe, and no need to worry anymore, or it isn't, and no need to worry, cuz he most likely isn't going to go from whatever he has to something like that, especially if what he's doing is working.

I wouldn't waste time worrying about others' scientific exploits because, if you think about it, anyone anywhere could be doing anything.

It doesn't matter whether its someone here on earth, or another lifeform a vigintillion lightmillenia away, or a natural reaction occuring somewhere in the infinite expanse of the universe... it only has to happen once, to a single subatomic particle, and boom-- we all rearrange ourselves into something else.

Worrying won't change that, or prevent it. Just be glad there are no reactions capable of affecting the past, if you go with the larger-universe-in-multiple-dimensions-of-which-we-only-experience-a-slice-of theory.

These stories have been bouncing around the news constantly for years. Not even a month ago it was a japanese company that supposedly powered a car with water. It was such an obvious phony, they had like a funnel in the back with a little cup they just effortlessly poured water into. Give me a break. Don't believe the hype till you see the technology for sale in a store with your own two eyes. If someone really does make such a huge breakthrough, you won't have to hear about it in some niche article on CNN.
