    Character display prob

New laptop, not greatest but was cheap and just need it for playing for couple weeks while I'm away from home.

    Vista Home Premium 32bit
    Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz
    3.0GB RAM
Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family

Character looks like the screenshot. Anyone know why?

I'm having the same problem, I was about to post about this too. I just reinstalled FFXI on my laptop, logged in and got this:

sorry to necro but didnt wanna make a new thread for something that has been asked already and also wanted to maybe catch attention of the people who posted this thread earlier

reinstalled ffxi recently, using same exact computer i used to play it on (worked completely fine), and i updated my drivers.

i'm definitely not great with computers at all so if anyone have any insight on how to solve this problem that would be great, or if the previous posters know how they fixed it that would be awesome too. thanks

Thats your first problem, other than that your specs are fine.

Updating drivers is getting colder in a hot-cold game scheme of things. The 965 chipset needs a very specific older driver to avoid these character rendering issues.

Happened to me. I reply with a fix towards the end of the thread under the name 'Deelessthanthree'. I couldn't provide actual links to the fix topic though (URL-posting restrictions on new fourm accounts).

This later thread has links to the fix topic.
