Like Xant said, she drove 2 cars? What, how did she get a knife in the back of the second car? She stole bullets from herself? Who did she kill in the woods? Also, she survives all that shit, what the hell? It tied into the beginning, but I rewatched the beginning and its her thats screaming at the dude in the car, not Alex... so... what?

Martyrs does it 100x better and makes it make a shitload more sense too.

@Tyven I wouldn't watch the second half of martyrs with the wife unless she has a thick stomach...

To add another movie I've watch: Sunshine. That movie is my absolute favorite sci-fi movie strictly about space. Sci-fi to the effect that it's sci-fi but doesn't go into all sorts of outlandish crazy shit like Star wars/Startrek or Alien or anything like that.

If you hate the latter 3rd of sunshine that's just like, your opinion, man; but I hate you and you're wrong.
    Spoiler: show
what do you mean Sunshine doesn't go outlandish? freaking Cinder from Killer Instinct is in it.

I enjoyed it, but didn't think it was all that great. Mainly just watched it because my son's name is Jiro as well.
    also

Just watched Cabin in the Woods. Second half was definitely worth the boring first half.

The people that would be fascinated with $200, 20 minute meals of raw fish have a disproportionate influence on "film" hype. It is just a doc on a sushi restaurant or two owned by a stubborn old man that will die as miserable as he lived...

    Christoph Waltz was awesome though.
Never expect anything more than fascination and regret from a Tarintino movie. Kill Bill was that last time I did either with his material.

World War Z was a pleasant surprise. Had its share of hollywood cheese but overall was really intense.

    Tarantino is my absolute favorite
I know he's not for everyone, but what don't you like about him? I thought Django was a (his) masterpiece personally, awesome movie with awesome homages, and an awesome soundtrack.

I watched Martyrs years ago while completely and totally stoned. Needless to say it did not do good things for my mind or stomach.

Was still pretty awesome to watch though.

I saw the devil; has the same actor from old boy in it (Min-sik Choi). Korea is definitely my #1 favorite films from asia. Maybe I haven't seen the right japanese movies, but both this and oldboy blow everything from japan that I've seen out of the water.

Specific to I saw the devil: The cinematic quality is amazing. It's essentially a movie from hollywood with korean actors. The actor is absolutely great, and the movie is just all around good. The plot is fairly cookie cutter revenge compared to Oldboy, but it's still beautifully executed. Also, couple hot korean chicks tits. I wish I could understand korean, because the script seems great. 10/10 would bang everyone in this movie again.

Edit: So I posted that at what I thought was the end of the movie, and now that I've finished it... I think this might top old boy for me.

i like jp cinema because it tends to be more reserved, slow, and generally appealing to artsy fartsy bullshit; totally see why it isnt for everyone. from what i seen, kfilms tend to be more extravagant and like you said closer to hollywood films within an asian context/lens (which is a-ok)

that being said i hated i saw the devil lol
don't get me wrong its a fun watch but it was full of macho braindead melodrama (i feel like melodrama plagues a lot of korean films, even if they are great)
(some gripes that really annoyed me)
    Spoiler: show
like really dude reaches into the sewer drain for no reason to find his dead wife's engagement ring? someone accidentally drops her head which rolls right at his feet just as he arrives, giving him a chance to show sentimentality? you let a taxi driver die simply because you wanted some irrational hunt bullshit/some hamfisted character development of becoming the devil? closeups of your phone cuz its dope as shit? the butcher completely predicts the killers' revenge plans because it's the logical course of action for the lowest common denominator of evil? CMON MAN

also i dont remember if i already posted about it but Sword of Doom is the goddamn absolute tits i think it might be my fav samurai film even with its very unfortunate/obvious flaw
