Just watched Interstellar. There was a lot I liked about it, and a lot I didn't like.
I liked how the first half has pretty good science, and scientific thinking, combined with (for the first time ever) correctly used and labeled field equations and relativistic expressions on the blackboards.
I didn't like how in the second half pretty much every character starts acting like they were on Degrassi or The O.C. and drops all scientific and critical thinking in favor of acting like an angsty teenager.
I think I would've liked it a lot better if it didn't have such a promising first half. I was really, really into it and then it turned into me just scowling at the TV at parts and fast forwarding through "BUT YOU DONT UNDERSTAND, LOVE IS MORE STRONG THAN GRAVITY HERP DERP."
This is from someone who doesn't blink when every 5 seconds in retro gundam shows someone says "their souls are weighed down by Earth's gravity." While standing in an accelerated frame perfectly mimicking Earth's gravity. Interstellar tried to set itself up as more science than drama. Gundam gives you robots fighting in space.
